Money and vacation would be the two choices, but to choose one I would definitely choose #3.

These are the 2 books I‘m deciding between for #lmpbc #groupo I haven‘t read either so any preferences or should it be a surprise?
@RavenLovelyReads @ladyneverwhere @Shakespearience

So - doing long haul next week. This is my first list to choose from for the flight!
Any thoughts peeps?
Want something easy to get into and will keep me engaged! May turn out to be none of the above of course.

rockpools You‘ll need to take at least 3 of those! 6y
TrishB @RachelO these are all on my kindle 😁😁 I take a couple of paperbacks too just in case. First time I did long haul I read 4 books! I have since learned that I also need to sleep on the plane as we go straight into work... 6y
OnePageAtATime A woman is no man and cross her heart look really good and I've heard good things about them both. 6y
See All 26 Comments
rockpools @TrishB That‘s alright then! Wouldn‘t want you to run out of books mid-flight 😁. But long-haul + work - urgh! Sounds exhausting! 6y
TrishB @RachelO I‘d be really paranoid about that! Yeah, it‘s not so exciting when it‘s work! 6y
TrishB @OnePageAtATime they do sound good don‘t they! 6y
MicheleinPhilly I also bring my Kindle and at least 2 hard copies “just in case.” The flight can be 3 hours and I‘m loaded up like I‘m heading to Australia. ☺️ 6y
TrishB @MicheleinPhilly you just never know! 6y
Cathythoughts I did get The Cut Out Girl recently ( havnt read ) must look them all up 👍🏻❤️.... great opportunity to sit back & read 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 6y
Birdsong28 Cross her Heart!!! 📚📖 6y
TrishB @Cathythoughts so many books 😁 6y
TrishB @Birdsong28 👍🏻👍🏻 I like an emphatic decision! 6y
j9brown A Woman Is No Man was really excellent 👍 6y
Cathythoughts So many books is right ... wonderful 💫💫💫 6y
TrishB @j9brown thanks 👍🏻 6y
JennyM I‘ve got this one waiting at the library. It is supposed to be all kinds of excellent 6y
MicheleinPhilly My wife just reminded me that when we did actually go to Australia I did not yet have a Kindle. I said, “So how many books did I bring??? We were there for 2 weeks?” Her response: “🙄🙄🙄A LOT.” 😬 6y
rwmg If fhey have room for all the films and music on the seat console, why not a well stocked ereader while they're at it. 6y
TrishB @MicheleinPhilly 😂😂 definitely me on holiday a few years ago! 6y
TrishB @rwmg great idea! Get out there selling it. Would have to have a good cross selection though wouldn‘t it! 6y
Reggie I‘m sad to say I have not read any of these. Safe travels TrishB!! 6y
TrishB @Reggie 👍🏻 any other recommendations accepted! 6y
Andrew65 The Chess Men as I love Peter May‘s writing and it rounds off the Lewis Trilogy perfectly and gave me one of my most jaw dropping moments in a book! Shock and awe! My second choice would be Solomon Creed, Simon Toyne is another superb writer and this is best read when you‘ve got a lot of time to read it so looks as if it fits the bill. (edited) 6y
TrishB @Andrew65 thanks for pointing out that‘s the third! As I haven‘t read the second yet, doh. Have on my kindle though, so I guess this should be The Lewis Man! And maybe the 3rd on my way home....I haven‘t read any Toyne yet 🤞🏻 6y
Andrew65 @TrishB Definitely need to read book 2 before book 3 as what happens in one definitely affects the next. Also one on each journey would be good as I think they need to be read closely together. Can not recommend Simon Toyne‘s Sanctus Trilogy highly enough. (edited) 6y
TrishB Thanks 👍🏻 have stacked that Toyne one. Is Solomon Creed a stand alone? Just checking! 6y

@cathysaid @sprainedbrain @EmilyM. So here are two choices I found on my TBR list. I'm going to look for more, but this is a start! The only thing is Clock Dance is not in paperback yet 😒. I don't know how everyone feels about shipping a hardcover book around. I'll take the books in the comments.

sprainedbrain Too funny... Evelyn Hugo was one of the (many) I was thinking of sending, but mine is a hardcover. So, I would vote for that one, but honestly wouldn‘t mind shipping a hardcover or reading the other one! 6y
See All 10 Comments
aroc This one gets my vote! I loved it! 6y
EmilyM I am good with either--I don't mind shipping a hardcover! 6y
cathysaid @EmilyM @sprainedbrain I agree. No problems here with sending a hard cover. I have read 7 husbands but loved it so much I would be happy to read again. Either book works for me. 6y
sprainedbrain Ok I‘m changing my vote... since Cathy has read Evelyn, can we do Clock Dance? 6y
EclecticBookLover Clock Dance it is! @sprainedbrain @cathysaid @EmilyM 😁. They both sound really good, but I was hoping everyone would like Clock Dance 😊 6y
EmilyM Yay! It has been on my list of books to read! 6y

TsundokuAleax I am interested in either Daisy Jones or Washington Black. 6y

@jmofo @Butterfinger @sprainedbrain I think I have narrowed it down to 4: 1. Sons and Lovers by DH Lawrence-the only Lawrence I want to reread. Read it when I was about 16. About the relationship between a son and his mother, and now that I have grown sons I want to reread. 2. Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann-family saga one of my favorite books ever. I‘m really leaning towards this, but it‘s long (700+pp) and I don‘t want to burden anyone.

arubabookwoman 3. Group Portrait With Lady by Heinrich Boll-read about the time he won the Nobel. Written in an interesting documentarian style. I would be interested in seeing if his writing of a woman comports with 21st century feminist sensibilities. 4. Catch 22 by Joseph Heller—in these tumultuous times this might be particularly relevant. Might be too similar in tone to Confederacy of Dunces though.#lmpbc (edited) 6y
sprainedbrain I know I sound like a broken record, but I would seriously be happy with any of these, including Buddenbrooks. All are on my tbr, and I don‘t already have any of them. I was just reading reviews on Buddenbrooks and it‘s very intriguing! 6y
jmofo @arubabookwoman I, too, am good with any of these. 😬 6y

Birdsong28 I do prefer paperback but any format is good. Just Read!!! 📚📖 6y
Kaye I feel like that argument is going on in my head. Can‘t concentrate and stick with a book, so I‘d be happy to read either one, just READ. 6y
Cailey_Mac I prefer a physical copy, but I can say it is nice to have a kindle as well as the kindle app, so when I may not have a physical book (gasp) I can still read. Or if the physical copy is $16 and the ebook is $1.99, I‘m going to go with the ebook😇😋📚 6y
KrystleTheBookSlayer I like and use both! Physical books are always comforting to me, but I still love my kindle especially for late night reading and I'm a sucker for any e-book sale. 6y
Slajaunie I love paper books but my kindle app has been a savior when I have forgotten to bring a book with me. It is also handy when reading a series and the closest book store is almost 2 hours away! 6y
Weaponxgirl I like both at different times, kindle paperwhite at night so I don't have to turn on a main light, physical if it's a particularly beautiful copy. Just having books available at all times is great 6y
Wordsareweapons I can‘t do ebooks. I find I don‘t actually read anything I just skim the page which results in a lot of back and forth page turning 6y

Good Morning Littens!

Today, I present my tea, with the dishwasher in the background. Just had a temper tantrum fight with my daughter, who just picked a fight because... I don't know. It always drains me when she picks a fight over stupid stuff, like her shoe laces, and storms off to school.

My morning is supposed to include loads of exercise - the physiotherapy kind - accompanied by an audiobook.

Which one should I pick?

laurieluna I'm not looking forward to those sorts of fights with my boys. Sending love and hugs and hope you get it sorted later. ❤ I really enjoyed caraval, however it's the only one of those I've read. X 7y
julesG @miralunasbooknook Thanks. Boys are a little easier - at least that's my experience with my 12.5 y/o. 7y
laurieluna @julesG here's hoping. From what I remember of my brother, he mostly just grunted at my mum. It was me who used to have the tantrums with her! 🙈 She's my best friend now though! 7y
See All 13 Comments
kgriffith I‘m voting for the one that looks like I might enjoy it but I don‘t already have it stacked, so I need someone to pre-screen 😋😉 7y
rockpools Hope your day gets hugely better! I'd go for D.O.D.O - never heard of it before, but I had a very cool great aunt called Dodo 🤷🏻‍♀️ 7y
julesG @miralunasbooknook There's hope! 7y
julesG @kgriffith @RachelO - I guess I'll sample both. One for the foot and leg exercises, the other for the hand and arm ones. 😁 7y
rockpools 😆Perfect! 7y
Sarah83 Please DODO and tell me, if it's worth reading... 🤗 7y
julesG @Sarah83 will let you know as soon as I get to it 7y
ElishaLovesBooks I liked DODO a lot! But I read it in print, not on audio. It‘s long and has lots of sciencey (I just made that word up but it seems to fit 😂) magical details. I liked Caraval but didn‘t love it-also I read it in print not audio. Good luck! 7y
corycatelyn Caraval was good 7y
Tamra Oh yes, my 4th grade son is in that phase and funny enough, just one was about light-up shoelaces that I said he couldn‘t wear to school. Honestly, he never threw tantrums as a toddler, but as a 10 year old, you bet! 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ 7y
