Welcome to Litsy!

Last week, my city hosted its 2nd annual bookstore crawl. It was an absolute blast! Over four days I visited 21 bookstores. I did some on my own, others with friends, and a bunch with my daughter. We had the best time visiting some of our favorites and discovering new ones. I love supporting these local shops that are such cultural hubs in our community.

Today, in the UK we celebrate World Book Day. I saw so many children walking to school in some great outfits. I love the fact that every child will receive a book token today which can be exchanged for a book. This could be the first book that some children may own. Encouraging the next generation to read is so important ❤️💕

I spent most of my time as a #longtimefed more or less in the realm of soft power. It‘s another topic I can‘t possibly do justice to in 451 characters, except to say I know whereof I speak when it comes to this area.

Pulling direct aid from the developing world, especially in the cruel and abrupt way we did so, opens up a huge space for China to swoop in. But we “need Ukraine‘s minerals” to combat China.

Then we humiliate Zelenskyy in the WH.*

My 2 biggest joys are my Valentine‘s card from my grandson. He knows I love books so he made a cover of a Stephen King book, Harry Potter and coffee. Kid so gets his Nana.

Also it‘s going to snow for 2 days so lots of reading…that‘s 2 joys. And the last is peace and quiet because my husband will be skiing. 🤣

We‘re quite excited! Our labradoodle Bernie has aspired to be a therapy dog for 7ish years. We‘ve moved 3x in those years, so we‘ve done a lot of preparing/training. My husband Matthew and Bernie will be testing tomorrow for Companion Paws Canada. Our trainer says they‘re ready. I know they‘re ready. Crossing all our paws that test jitters don‘t make either of them too nervous. 🦮💜🐾
