TheAromaofBooks When I read this several years ago, I remember enjoying the not-story chapters even more than the story chapters. I think Steinbeck's writing is so beautiful. 2mo
dabbe Oh, this novel. My heart weeps not just at the story of the Joads but at Steinbeck's sublime writing. 🩶🖤🩶 2mo
BookNAround I love that so many people like this book so much. It 100% is not for me (I loathe it). In fact, no Steinbeck book I‘ve ever read has been for me (I do still have high hopes for Travels with Charley though). 😂 2mo
BarkingMadRead @BookNAround this is my second attempt. Now I have to finish it 🤣 2mo

Bklover I love East of Eden so much that I am worried this one will be disappointing. 🤨 2mo
willaful This opening reminded me of the terrible fires of 2020, and a day when the sky was so red it felt apocalyptic. :-( 2mo
Bklover Hiya! Can you add me to the list? 2mo
BarkingMadRead @bklover absolutely 2mo
ElizaMarie I am behind - I ended up getting the Audio, because I went everywhere BUT a bookstore this weekend. Anyway, listening to Chapter 1 - I can tell I am going to enjoy this so far. It feels ominous (Also kinda going in blind, never tried to read it, never saw any of the screen adaptation - not sure how many there are). Excited to be in this group! 2mo

Sparklemn I really hope the creature has followed him and Henry to England and left the family in peace. However, I fear their journey may not end well. (edited) 3mo
Clare-Dragonfly I don‘t think this is going to go well for Henry… 3mo

dabbe I think “moist“ was used in different forms more than once! 🤣 I love the setup to a long flashback of what happens at Dorlcote Mill on the Floss River. No dental floss here whatsoever! 🤩 9mo
Sparklemn “There is a remnant still of last year‘s golden clusters of beehive-ricks rising at intervals beyond the hedgerows…” Such beautiful writing! 9mo

Every Grain of Sand | David P. Wichman, Heather Ebert

“My life had taken off. I wasn‘t making anywhere close to ten thousand dollars a month, but I had more equity in living than I‘d had in decades on the street. Just as Jeff Stevenson had taught me all those years earlier, I saw how I could truly manifest and create my own life...

bibliobliss ...Immersed in a raw form of gratitude, I couldn‘t help thinking, Oh my God, I survived! I‘m clean and sober. I‘m not digging into a trash can or sticking a needle into my arm. Every day, a laundry list of joys flooded my mind.“

I loved this book way more than I expected. The world building surrounding this story is so unique and beautiful. I especially loved how we discovered it alongside the main character. With a lot of YA novels I can usually guess what's going to happen but there were so many twists and beautiful turns.
