#LittensLoveRomance with almost half of the votes our May read has been selected! I‘ve never read this author but I‘ve seen her books around for years so I‘m looking forward to trying her. We‘ll be starting mid May and reading two chapters a day (or at your own pace). Please let me know if you want to be tagged in my daily posts

#Read2025

I‘m catching up on my April reviews this weekend & I loved this book! A good thing as it was a trifecta of challenge prompts: #AuthorAMonth #LiteraryCrew #BuddyRead & one of the books from @JacqMac ‘s #AuldLangSpine list. This is my third Kate Quinn book & maybe my favorite. The audiobook was stellar & I finished & listened to the author notes twice + an interview with the author & narrator who really brought the characters to life. ⬇️

DebinHawaii … I learned a lot about the Red Scare, McCarthy & Washington DC in the era. The mystery was good as was the ways the characters were introduced & their layers uncovered. I also enjoyed the sentient Briar House & the communal dinners with recipes & music selection of the times included. It kept me engrossed during lots of airport commutes in April & will likely be a favorite of the year for me. 1d

#Read2025 #MonthlyNonFiction

I‘m behind on reviews & discussion but I finished this for April‘s #Naturalitsy #BuddyRead I borrowed an ebook copy from the library & it‘s a quick & interesting book of essays about the Owens Valley & Mohave Desert in California. Written in 1903, it‘s wonderful nature writing & while my version may have suffered for lack of photos, the writing was descriptive enough to make me see it in my mind. While reading & ⬇️

DebinHawaii …stopping to Google more details, I found out/realized that From 1942 to 1945, during World War II, the first Japanese American Internment camp operated in the Owens valley at Manzanar. Maybe it‘s only interesting to me because I grew up reading & rereading the book tagged below but I like when I can tie books together. A enjoyable read overall, I would buy a print copy (hopefully with pictures) for my shelves. (edited) 3d

Ruthiella Perfect. I‘m a little behind and need to catch up. Hopefully I will be done with The Girls on Sunday. 🤞 (edited) 4d
Jess861 @Ruthiella Perfect - I'm not exactly sure when I'll post discussions this weekend as it'll be whenever I get some time free from the kiddos. I don't expect a lot of activity on this book and jumping in anytime works of course :) - I'll make sure to mark as a spoiler if there is anything given away in the discussion point! 3d

💐 Did you enjoy the book?
🍾 What makes it a modernist novel?
💐 What was the connection between Clarissa and Septimus?
🍾 What was the significance of Clarissa's parties?
💐 Do you think Woolf successfully captures the minutiae of everyday life in a 24-hour period?

julieclair Didn‘t get to this one this month, but want to. Too many books… too little time… 3d
TheBookHippie I learned a lot from this read and I had the photography book of this- HUGE BOOK - so you could read and almost jump in the picture. I did read it in bits and I think that‘s the best way. Librarian said it was dry but I didn‘t feel that way. I found it informative. 8h
TheBookHippie lol look at the questions - I always found desert BORING and now I can see beauty- like I said having the massive pictures made you live in the photo and is brilliant way of understanding the author. Does the author like people? Maybe not. I don‘t think it matters. 🙃 could be me reading in it‘s been a bit much here in life. 8h
