TheBookHippie OMG these peoples 😵‍💫 10mo
TheAromaofBooks It especially blows my mind that Cecil thinks he's the open-minded one for inviting “lower class“ people to come and live there 🙃 *edited because I totally spaced on Cecil's name and put him down as Cyrus* 😂 (edited) 10mo

mcctrish #quotingtheservants the fiasco lives up to his name #donttellmewhattodo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 10mo
Cuilin @TheAromaofBooks I also try to forget Cecil. 😑 10mo
TheBookHippie Priggish comes to mind 😵‍💫 10mo
Ruthiella He only sees Lucy as someone to be molded and reflect him back to himself. He does not appreciate her as her own person at all. (edited) 10mo
peanutnine So proud of Lucy for telling off Charlotte! How she still manages to meddle when she's not even there baffles me 🙄 10mo
Bklover Charlotte needs to stay in her own web. 🕷️🕸️ 10mo
ravenlee @TheAromaofBooks he doesn‘t deserve the attention required to keep his name straight. Ugh. 10mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig Cecil is such a prig! 10mo
dabbe @TheAromaofBooks Probably because Cyrus rhymes with “virus“. 😀 Cyrus Vys. #perfect 🤩🤩🤩 10mo
dabbe @Bklover Nice allusion! 🤩😍🤩 Or she needs to start spinning words in favor of Wilbur, I mean George. #thatllneverhappen 10mo
Clare-Dragonfly You could have said that every chapter so far! 😂 10mo
BarkingMadRead @Clare-Dragonfly I feel that in my soul 🤣🤣 10mo
Bookwormjillk These people are a trip. Loved Lucy telling Charlotte off. No one reads my mail Charlotte. 10mo

This was written in the 90s, but it seems to jive with what people are saying now. We have got to go back to actually educating children. We have got to stop fearing science or discrediting things that have been proven. America would not be in this mess if these people could think critically, for themselves.

Weaponxgirl I miss the 90s, remember when the worst thing that the president of America did was get a blow job? 5y

Thanks for your #20kgiveaway, @Crazeedi 🎉! The first book I remember reading on my own is “Ernie‘s Big Mess.” Kind-of prophetic. 😅

Crazeedi Thanks for sharing! Ernie's the best! 5y

I don‘t usually like books where the main character is a #hotmess. You know, the kind of situation where every time the character is making a decision you‘re yelling in your head, “DON‘T DO IT! STOP!” But somehow that worked for me with this book. I‘ve seen so-so reviews for this one, but I really liked it! Lots of suspense, it kept me riveted until the end. It‘s also very different than what I‘ve been reading. #firstbookofwintervacation

Cathythoughts Great review 👍🏻 5y
ElishaLovesBooks @Cathythoughts Thank you! 💕 5y
Soubhiville I love this author! 5y

BooknerdsLife Happy reading! One of my favorite books this year! 💕 6y
EadieB I have this on hold too! 6y
Andrew65 @BooknerdsLife That‘s what I keep hearing so looking forward to it. 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB I was surprised that my library didn‘t have this but bought the ebook. (edited) 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 Someone will definitely ask them to purchase it soon! 6y
AlaMich It‘s sooo good!! You guys will love it! And it is superb on audio; the narrator is outstanding. 6y
BooknerdsLife @Andrew65 Can't wait to hear what you think of it too 😃❤️ 6y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 I tried my library and overdrive, no book at my small library, overdrive 12 plus weeks🤨 so I bought, I wanted physical copy. I'm stoked! 6y
Andrew65 @AlaMich Great to hear! 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB They seem to have very few of the #BOTMBuddyReads 6y
Andrew65 @BooknerdsLife Will let you know. 6y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi I have the same problem with the #BOTMBuddyReads. My libraries are very behind the times with modern popular fiction. 6y
EadieB @andrew65 that‘s really deplorable! 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB They don‘t seem very up on modern fiction and keeping up with trends, other than favourite series. Not helped by budget cuts. One librarian recently hadn‘t even heard of Daphne Du Maurier! Can be very frustrating especially when you recommend ebooks that are highly rated which they ignore and they buy whole swathes of series that are second rate or smutty Romance Books. (edited) 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 That is definitely frustrating! 6y
TheBookHippie I'm ready!!!! 6y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Hope you‘re feeling better. 😍 6y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 I've turned on my library to maisel Dobbs series, Charles Todd's bess Crawford and Rutledge series and a few other newer books too. Did this by donating my books and they put in circulation. I will continue to give them books I think will reach a wider audience, and they can put others in their used book sale! 6y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi What a great idea! Some great series there too. 6y
Crazeedi @andrew65 I loved maisie earlier books, love all insp. Rutledge book, and I liked the first couple bess Crawford, then meh 6y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi Maisie is one of my favourite series and want to get to the others. Just too many series on the go. 😳 6y
Pamwurtzler I‘ll give it a try. I‘ve been wanting to read this . . . 6y
Andrew65 @Pamwurtzler Yey! Be great to have you join us. 😊 6y
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 we've had whooping cough, chicken pox, stomach flu, nasty strep throats at school thankfully I got the short lived stomach flu 😷🤢 blech ...son got a sprained wrist grand baby a nasty virus and high fevers and poor hubby came home to all this sick himself with a bad cold after being gone a week 🙄😭😭😭 #hotmess (edited) 6y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie What a terrible time you‘ve had! Hope you are all recovering now. Had some of those same things at school recently, but clear,y not to the same extent. Keep building up your strength and rest! 😳 6y

Hello, yes my name is hot mess Jess and I can‘t have nice things. Second night in a row that I‘ve knocked over wine on my coffee table 😐. I can‘t be the only one who has done something like this before!?
#hotmess

Drnkpnkprincess Hahahahahaha! No! I‘ve dropped my kindle in the bath multiple times. Ruining covers and kindles in one swoop 6y
dsfisher @HotMessJess There is a reason I went to stemless wine glasses 😳 6y
jamie_in_the_library Oh no! At least they weren‘t library books? 6y

TommieMarie74 I‘ve done it with Starbucks and with soda. I once tipped a Starbucks cup straight into my purse (while shopping) and ruined my book, my planner, and the entire (cream colored) purse. It‘s was a stellar day. Lol 6y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled I KNOW this is not the first time Ive seen wine spaz results on your books . . . 🤣🤪 6y
CouronneDhiver Oops! 🤪🍷 6y
HotMessJess @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled this is so common 🙄🙄 6y
HotMessJess @Drnkpnkprincess OH NO!! Did you get the new waterproof one? I asked for it for my bday 😺😺 6y
HotMessJess @TommieMarie74 I DID THAT THIS WEEKEND! Except it was with blue cheese dressing. ALL OVER EVERYTHING 6y
HotMessJess @dsfisher it was stemless 😩 I knocked it over and then I knocked an open bottle of wine over trying to fix it. At this point I think I might have to just drink from a sippy cup! 6y
HotMessJess @CouronneDhiver I can‘t have nice things 😅 6y
HotMessJess @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled ps- this isn‘t even half of the books I splattered 6y
TommieMarie74 @HotMessJess Omgosh!!! Blue cheese dressing is the worst with these situations. Even if you can clean it, that SMELL just lingers on and on. 🤢 6y
Drnkpnkprincess @HotMessJess no... I cannot have nice things so I went with another paperwhite. Plus the size is good for my exceptionally small hands. I‘m just not allowed to read my kindle in the tub anymore 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ 6y
Bookzombie @Drnkpnkprincess If I read on my Kindle in the tub, I put it in a baggie. I think I could save it if I dropped it. 🙂 (edited) 6y
HotMessJess @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled ITS TOO LATE! It was on the pile that was plastered 🤷🏼‍♀️ 6y

Ernie's Big Mess | Sarah Roberts, Joseph Mathieu
post image

It‘s time for our weekly #ThrowbackReadathon discussion question!

I‘m told I began reading at the tender age of two. This seems unlikely 😅. Suffice it to say, it was early. My first book was “Ernie‘s Big Mess,” which is pretty indicative of my life & overall demeanor. #hotmess

The #ThrowbackReadathon takes place Jan 25-28th. Revisit favorite books from your childhood; post reviews, quotes, & old photos, along with me & my co-host, @Clwojick !

Bookzombie I don‘t remember at all. 😂 I don‘t think my mom is a reliable memory bank either. I was the third kid. 😂 6y
MiyakoBunny It‘s possible my sister also started reading at age 2 😊💗 6y
monalyisha @Bookzombie Ha! I was the first so my baby book‘s pretty cute & detailed... at least, it WAS. Until my younger brother was born 7 years later. Bah! Siblings! 🙄😉 6y
See All 15 Comments
monalyisha @MiyakoBunny Whoa! I think what‘s more likely is that I memorized my favorites & pretended to “read.” I‘m very skilled at the arts of manipulation & subterfuge. (Not really. 😆) 6y
MiyakoBunny Lol 😂 ah I see like those your baby will learn to read infomercials 😂😂😂 6y
cobwebmoth I was 5. My first book was 6y
monalyisha @cobwebmoth 👏🏻❤️ Do you still like circus books? 6y
cobwebmoth @monalyisha I do!😊 6y
Clwojick #hotmess 😂 I'm dying! 😂😂😂 6y
Lizpixie I was about 4 and it was the Little Golden Book, Scuffy The Tugboat. My elder sister used to read it to me but had a hissy fit and said she wouldn‘t do it anymore. I picked it up and started reading it myself and never stopped! 6y
monalyisha @Lizpixie I repeat: “Siblings. 🙄😉” 6y
ElleSkel My mom says I was 3 when I started reading, but I can't be sure. Strange but I don't remember the first book I read just that it was illustrated by Gyo Fujikawa (even then I was preoccupied with the illustrations) and I circled all the 'the's in it because I was so proud that I finally understood how 'th' worked together. I got in big trouble for that. 6y
monalyisha @Elle_Skeldon I love that! Everyone insists “the” doesn‘t matter (esp. for titles). Meanwhile, you‘re hyper-focusing. Always supporting the underdogs (underwords?)! 💪🏻 6y
ElleSkel LOL @monalyisha ...underwords definately! 6y
Bookzombie @monalyisha It‘s funny you mentioned your baby book, I almost added that there was hardly anything in mine. 🙂 6y
