I‘ve made a lot of progress on downloading more of my ebooks to my computer. I downloaded books for 5 hours and 30 minutes tonight and I‘m still not done yet. I have 3,529 books. I made it to page 58 out of 142 pages of books on my Amazon account. I stopped on page 58. I have until Feb 26 to download my ebooks. I‘m stopping tonight and starting again tomorrow. My hand is tired.

I read some of this book today and journaled when I woke up today and just finished journaling before bed and now, I‘m laying in bed on my phone so I‘m going to try to get some sleep.

Tonight, I started downloading my Kindle books to my computer. I have 3,000+ ebooks on my Kindle. I downloaded 500 books. There‘s only a few days left until Amazon turns into a paid library where they can edit books and remove books whenever they want to. I feel better already that I‘m taking control over my ebooks so the books will actually belong to me and when they‘re all on my computer, they can‘t mess with them or take them away.

I‘ve decided that I‘m going to download my ebooks because on February 26, Amazon is becoming a paid library. If we don‘t download our ebooks to our computers then Amazon can take them away from us. I don‘t want to lose my books. They‘re mine. I paid for them. I have 3,000+ ebooks on my Kindle. I was just talking to my mom about this and she told me that I can just save them as files to my computer and that I don‘t even need a USB drive.

I saw this post in a Facebook group I‘m in about the change from Amazon happening on February 26. This is the second part of it.

CatLass007 I didn‘t know anything about this change! Will it also affect Audible? 2d
kelli7990 @CatLass007 I don‘t know. I haven‘t decided if I want to deal with downloading my ebooks to a USB drive or not. I don‘t think I have a USB drive. 2d
CatLass007 This is just another way for Amazon to rip off their customers. 2d
kelli7990 @CatLass007 I was just talking to my mom about this and she told me that I don‘t have to download my books to a USB drive and that all I have to do is just download them and save them as files to my computer. It sounds like they want to become a paid library but I don‘t understand why. I already use Libby and I pay for Kindle Unlimited. Why would I want to pay to rent ebooks from them? That‘s not right. 2d
CatLass007 No, it‘s absolutely not right. I‘ve actually lost a couple of audiobooks from Audible in the past. But there‘s a way to download audiobooks from the Amazon site to get those books back. 2d

I wanted to share some things I highlighted from this book I‘m reading called “My Healthy Noggin” by Bokinia Colbert. These 5 things I‘ve highlighted are some things to think about for today. It‘s making me think.

I read some more of this book. I journaled before bed last night and then today when I woke up. I slept through the night last night after I journaled and I played a guided sleep meditation on YouTube when I went to sleep last night. I didn‘t wake up during my sleep once. I usually wake up more than once while sleeping but that didn‘t happen last night. I think the journaling helped. My mind wasn‘t racing at all when I got in bed last night.

I was reading the book My Healthy Noggin by Bokinia Colbert this afternoon. I highlighted these journaling prompts that the author says to incorporate into journaling along with this book. I could do the visualization exercises, the self reflection prompts and gratitude journaling or I could continue doing the stream of consciousness writing like I did today. I don‘t think there‘s a right or wrong way to start journaling.

I just read more of this book this afternoon. There was another empty page for journaling along with this book and I just did some journaling after waking up this afternoon. It turns out that I had a lot to say about Amazon but I feel better. I think I needed to write about it because I stayed up all night last night worrying about it. I‘ve learned that this is part of having Anxiety. If I worry about something, it keeps me up at night.

Wow. I didn‘t know Amazon did that. I‘m not switching to another e-reader because I‘m happy with what I have but this makes me look at them differently so basically, none of us have ever owned our Kindle books. We‘ve only been buying a license to rent them this whole time. Is Amazon trying to become a paid library?

Ok. I get it now. Amazon wants us to only use their e-readers. Well, this doesn‘t affect me because I‘m not switching to another e-reader. I like my Kindle. I‘m happy with it. It works well for me. I don‘t see any reason why I should switch to something else.

Nebklvr They have also switched versions of books. So you may buy one version and end up with another. 4d
kelli7990 @Nebklvr Now that I think about it, I have noticed that with some ebooks I‘ve bought from them in the past before where I bought a version with a certain cover and then next time I notice when I‘m going through my ebooks on my account that the covers have been updated. If they change the cover of the book, does that mean that they can also edit it if they don‘t like what the book says? I never thought about it before but that‘s scary. (edited) 3d
Nebklvr @kelli7990 I think it was a thing when people were complaining about Roald Dahl books where people were censoring his writings so I would say yes. 3d

What‘s highlighted in purple is what‘s standing out to me in the article I just shared a link to. We don‘t actually own our digital content that we pay for. We‘re just buying a license to rent it. I‘ve heard that it‘s always been that way. Why didn‘t anyone tell me this? I just found out about this and I‘m trying to process it.

https://www.theverge.com/news/612898/amazon-removing-kindle-book-download-transf...

I just found out about this. I‘ve never used this feature. So basically after Feb 26, you won‘t actually own your Kindle books. We‘re just going to be buying a license to rent our books and I guess that means if they remove the ebook from their website then you lose the ebook. I wonder if they‘ll start doing this on Audible too.

kelli7990 Apparently if you want to actually own your Kindle books then you need to download them to your computer and transfer them over to a USB drive only if you want to actually own them and then put them on another e-reader. If you don‘t do that then you can only read those books on your Kindle. I plan to keep the books on my Kindle. I don‘t plan to put them on another e-reader. 4d

I just started this book. I like it so far. It has journaling prompts. It mentions stream of consciousness writing which I‘ve done before and I just did my first journal entry along with this book. Taylor Bradshaw (a folk musician I listen to) made a book of creative exercises and I did them. Stream of consciousness writing was one of the exercises. He said he learned about it from a book he read called “The Artist‘s Way” by Julia Cameron.

kelli7990 Stream of consciousness writing is very easy. Just start writing down whatever thoughts come to your mind without thinking about what you‘re writing. I like doing it because I‘ve realized that my thoughts are all over the place. I think that comes with having Anxiety but it seems like it makes my mind be quiet because I think too much about things sometimes. 4d

1. I finished a 3 book series for #serieslove2025 which was my goal for this readathon.

2. After I finished a series then I decided to start the tagged book because it‘s one of my #roll100 books and I wasn‘t in the mood for another romance novel. I haven‘t written my review for it yet because I just finished it but I enjoyed it and I‘m looking forward to reading my other #roll100 books now.

After I finished reading all 3 books in the Fueled Obsession series by Amanda Heartley last night, I decided to start this book. I wasn‘t in the mood for another romance novel. I like this book so far. It has spells, invocations, mythology and watercolor images of ocean life. My zodiac sign is Cancer so I‘m a water sign. I‘ve always liked the water. I won‘t be doing the spells or invocations but I think the mythology is interesting.

For #weeklyfavorites, my favorite for the first week was Piranesi. This is considered a fantasy but it felt like I was in a dream. I never understood what was going on but I enjoyed the writing.

My favorite for the second week is a bad boy romance series that I just finished reading tonight. It‘s a romance between a race car driver and a nurse. I really liked this series. It took me from Feb 9-15 just to read all 3 books.

I kept looking at it and thinking that I messed up on crocheting the petals but my mom said that the stitches look consistent.

I‘m joining the #realmofelderlings readalong this month. We‘re reading Assassin‘s Apprentice. I‘m interested to see what I think about this series. I‘ve never read Robin Hobb. I‘ve heard of this series because Becca And The Books on YouTube has talked about the series on her channel and her book club The Catchup Book Club read the series but I didn‘t read it when they were reading it because I wasn‘t ready to commit to it yet.

kelli7990 I don‘t know anything about this series or what to expect. I don‘t know if it‘s anything like A Song Of Ice And Fire or if it‘s different. I still feel intimidated by it because there‘s so many books but I‘m glad that I‘m reading it with a group and not by myself. I don‘t know how long it‘ll take for me to read this book. In January, I bought this Kindle holder from Amazon that has this bowl in it. I‘ve been seeing people in the Kindle group I‘m in on Facebook talking about this so I decided to order it. My mom had to help me with the arm that holds the Kindle up. People online were saying that this holder was easy to assemble but it wasn‘t easy for me. I used it once and I liked it. I don‘t think the arm is heavy enough to hold up an iPad or a tablet though.

kelli7990 I tried putting my iPad on the holder with the cover on it and it seemed like the iPad was too heavy. I was worried it was going to fall off if I left it on the holder. I also tried putting my Kindle on the holder with my Kindle cover and page turner but that didn‘t work. I had to take my Kindle cover off of my Kindle to put it on the holder so I could use my page turner remote. I put my phone on the holder and it was sturdy. (edited) 3w
