Pippin and I are enjoying a quiet evening on the sunporch. I'm really glad I got an eARC of this book because it's just what I needed after a long day. A little magic, a little romance, and some great characters.

My entire #BookHaul from the Columbus Festival of Books! I only actually bought one book, but I met all of these authors and got their books signed. I've been reading Alexandra Rowland and Sarah Gailey for years, so it was extra cool to finally meet them both in person. 🥰
I'm vending at the Columbus Festival of Books this weekend and it's been so fun! It's 90° in the shade, but people are still turning out to buy books and meet authors. My TBR pile has gotten so much longer! 😅

Mid-year check in!
How are you doing with your 2024 reading goals and challenges?
Them: Come to this awesome block party. There will be food, and music, and vendors...
Me: Can I bring my book?
Subterranean Press: Would you like a new Travis Baldree short story?
Me: *grabby hands* YES!!!
If you're like me and have cards at multiple libraries this site is going to be infinitely valuable to you. You enter which libraries you have cards at and then can search all of them at once (unlike in the Libby app).

You're welcome. ☺️
I've run out of bookshelf space (again), so it's time for another massive purge. 😳😳😳
Today I had the honor of hearing Kate Moore speak on the steps of the Wood Country Lunatic Asylum (c.1885) about the tagged book. It was a phenomenal place to be talking about the struggles of a sane woman who was committed less than 10 years prior to this building being used. We got to tour the asylum afterward, as well as get our books signed.
HUGE thank you to @WildAlaskaBibliophile for picking this as one of my 12-in-12 reads this year. 💜💜
Pippin, Tommy, and I are finishing up the tagged ebook. While I liked Kitasei's first novel better overall, I still think this one is worth reading if you're a scifi fan. It took me a little while to connect with the characters. Maya (the MC) isn't super likeable, but she definitely grew on me. This is part museum heist, part space horror. There's some great banter, really unique "alien" races, and just the right amount of nail biting action.
A beautiful evening and a good book.
(Bonus Tommy cat snoozing in the sunshine.)
If you're a huge comic book fan you probably know who Tom King is, but back in 2012 he also wrote what is, arguably, the best comic book novel of all time. He was doing a signing at Motor City Comic Con today, so I snuck away from the booth to meet him. He was thrilled that I had an ARC of the book and was utterly delightful. I very rarely wait in lines to meet celebs at shows, but this was a good exception.
Okay, but all books that take place in a space should include diagrams of the ship! This book has two and they really help visualize what's going on. I can use my imagination for a castle, or even a city, but I have no reference points for spaceships. It's one of the things that typically turns me away from hard scifi...
We're doing the Night Market at the Toledo Botanical Gardens tonight, so I'm taking the opportunity to run around and take fun product photos. 🥰

Forward all my calls to the forest. I'll be out here reading with the birds and squirrels (but hopefully not with the neighborhood bear).
Did I have plans tonight? Yes.
Did I cancel them the minute I got an eARC of the new Singing Hills novella? Also, yes.
🤣🤣🤣
I'm working Penguicon in Ypsilanti, Michigan this weekend, but when there are no customers in sight I'm definitely reading the new Cat Shaw ARC behind the counter. 😅
We're having crazy thunderstorms this afternoon! There are probably productive things I should be doing, but I can't resist curling up in the sunroom, listening to the rain hit the metal roof, and reading a great book. 🥰
I'm going to be hanging out talking books at Grand Rapids Comic Con this weekend. They've got pretty good literary lineup, so I'm definitely going to be getting some books signed.

We're in the path of totality for the eclipse, so I'm chilling in the yard with a book, waiting for the moon snakes to devour the sun. 🤷♀️
AHHHHH! Exciting news! We're officially doing the Columbus Book Festival (Columbus, Ohio) AND the Southern Book Festival (Nashville, TN)! I'm so excited to have two great bookish shows coming up. I volunteer my booth as a spot for a Litsy meet-up. 🥰
#BookFestival #Studio42Books
Just popping in to say hello! Show season has started and I've been crazy busy and haven't kept up with Litsy the way I'd like to. (And yes, I owe some people #LitsyLove letters, too)
Pippin and I have taken the evening off and are cuddled up reading the latest Valdemar trilogy and drinking tea.
A gender swapped, feminist Orpheus and Eurydice?
Yes, please!
As a related side-note: I saw Hadestown last week and it was one of the, if not THE best shows I've ever seen live. If you're a musical and/or mythology buff you have to check that it out!
We head home on Friday, so I need to enjoy beach reading while I can. I'm so glad I upgraded to the glare proof edition when I upgraded my Kindle - it makes reading in the sun SO much easier!
We're in Florida for the week visiting my snowbird parents. I could happily read on the beach all day, but everyone else started whinning about silly things like being hungry, and not wanting to miss the Super Bowl. 😮💨
JoAnn Fabrics has these really cute bookish birdhouses on sale right now! I, obviously, had to get one. 🥰📚🐦
I stopped by Dollar Tree today and found this cute Valentine's Day decoration. It's three-dimensional, and they had a few different designs. I figured I should get one for my romance shelf. 🥰
I'm typically a fan of Michaelides' brand of pretentious psycho-lit, but I think this one just went too far for me.
It felt like there were no bread crumbs and the twist was out of the blue. Combine that with characters that were all various degrees of horrible... well, I just didn't like this one much at all. Meh.
My first book is the tagged, second book in The Last Binding trilogy. I finished the series today (book #7 for the year!) and give the series 5 stars overall. I think this was the weakest of the series, but still really good. If you like spicy historic fantasy check this one out!
#SundayFunday @BookmarkTavern
I'm listening to the latest Natalie Haynes (who is brilliant) while working on my 2024 reading #bujo. If you can't tell by the tail, Tommy is helping. 😁
There are two fictionalized versions of the Medea story coming out this year and I'm really excited to read them both. Luckily, I have an eGalley of this one and a happy Pippin to help me read it.

Okay, littens, help me pick some books! I'm going to split the year between Litsy and Facebook suggestions, so tag your favorite book or a book you're looking forward to reading. Help me find some new favorites! 🥰
I read 257 books in 2023, here are my favorites!
💜💜
Happy holidays, everyone! I wish you all good company, yummy food, and lots of books. 🥰
My partner did such a great job with holiday gifts this year! He got me a remote page turner for my Kindle and this amazing book haul! The Fitzgerald is the fancy Broken Binding edition, the Barker is signed, and the Burton is the illustrated edition that I've been lusting after for ages! I feel very happy and spoiled. 🥰
I don't even know how to review this one except to say it was one of the best books I've read this year, but also BRUTAL.
Basically, a bunch of children are raised by their "Father", who might be a god, and are trained in a single subject, such as languages, animals, reincarnation, murder... And maybe the world might end? Or maybe the god might retire? Or maybe a man in a tutu might murder everyone? Come for the violence, stay for the feelings!
My friend got me the CUTEST bookends and stickers as a holiday gift! Aren't these the greatest?
If you're looking for a seasonal read that isn't a romantic comedy you should check out The Kingdom of Sweets. It's a dark fairytale inspired by The Nutcracker that centers around a set of twins (one light and one dark), their magician godfather, and a fairy who rules over a land of confections. It's dark, twisty, and wonderful. 4☆
Did I resort to turning the page on my kindle with my nose, because both hands were occupied by cats? Yes. Yes, I did. 😅
Tonight Pippin and I are starting this fake dating, enemies-to-lovers, GBBO inspired romance. I have this book and one graphic novel to read and I'll have finished all my 2023 reading challenges! Pip is just happy that it's an ebook, so I have a hand free to give him belly rubs.
#CatsOfLitsy
I've been burning through audiobooks the last few days, trying to finish up my #2023 reading challenges. Unfortunately, a few of the prompts were ones I had put off, because they sounded boring/terrible... and now I have to finish them all in the next couple weeks. 😅 Dammit, Past Me, why couldn't you have spaced them throughout the year?
Bonus photo of Tommy being a festive chonk. #CatsOfLitsy
Jo Segura in conversion with Anastasia Ryan tonight at Gathering Volumes!
All of my #CardSwap cards and half of my #LitsyLove cards are going out today!
@LibrarianRyan
Did I NEED more bookish holiday ornaments? No.
Did I buy this one at Target? Hell, yeah, I did! 📚🎄
