Catching up. I finished Coraline on 10/25. Somehow I have never read the book or watched the movie till now. I think the movie might have been slightly creepier than the book, but I enjoyed both. Meme unintentionally also has candles which was my cover hunt prompt for this one. 🕯️ #HauntedShelf #SkeletonCrew #BookSpinBingo #ReadAway2024 #Spookoween #31by31 #LongNights
Audio and I have watched the movie. I love the movie; honestly more so than the book still. The audiobook, read by the author, was really well done overall. The added sound effects was fun, though his voice was monotonous a lot. I‘m trying not to compare to the movie. I can see how the second half gets spookier for the age group it‘s for. Otherwise, as an adult reading a middle aged story, it was well paced and justified in about all Coraline did
Check out this stunning commemorative artwork celebrating the 15th anniversary of “Coraline“, featured on Stumptown‘s cold brew can!
I‘ve seen the movie a hundred times and thought I should finally read the book. It did not disappoint! Even though the movie and book are drastically different, they are both good in their own ways!

Bored one day, Coraline opens a door the other side of which is normally blocked off only to find it leads to a replica of her home under the sway of the Other Mother. Can she find her way back to this world or is she trapped in the Other Mother's world?
A talking cat but no Cat King :-( . Otherwise a creepy fun read, though I'm not sure how I would have reacted if it had been available while I was in the target age group.
My #FaveBookmark is one that I made with the quote, “Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten." by Neil Gaiman in the book, Coraline.

1. @tiedyedude and I moved to Alaska in July.
2. I'm not sure what the most recent one was, but it might've been Coraline, which I read way back around 2009 while living in California. I love both the book and the movie! #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView
Second Gaiman I read for my bookclub this year. Didn‘t care much about it, though. Maybe it was too short.
Spooky Cute!
“There was nothing in the corner. Nothing but the old door that opened onto the brick wall“
“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.“ — Neil Gaiman
This book can stimulate discussions about contentment, the allure of the unknown, and the importance of home. It's an excellent choice for sparking creative writing projects inspired by the otherworldly
I‘ve had a Saturday night in watching movies while my boyfriend is out at a friend from school‘s birthday party so here‘s my lineup for tonight. We‘ve got some very creepy, some not very creepy, and the surprisingly good Totally Killer that just came out!

Thanks @TheSpineView for the #Two4Tuesday tag! 👻
1️⃣ Reese‘s Pumpkins or Russell Stover Marshmallow Pumpkins (dark chocolate or caramel & marshmallow) 🎃
2️⃣ Coraline is a spooky favorite. The movie is on my #Scarathlon watchlist for Team #SpookyGhostClub 👻 but I will probably try to work the audiobook (with Neil Gaiman narrating) in too. 🐀🐀🐀
Anyone want to play? Consider yourself tagged! 🎃

I need to reread this book for #Scarathlon
Wonder if I can work it in? 🤔
This was my fourth time rereading this book, and I still absolutely love it! I always am so shocked by how dark this story goes considering it's targeted at kids, but the atmosphere makes the book so eerie and whimsical.
5/5 🌟
neil gaiman is a master…i have read many of his other books but never this small and scary gem. loved it!

Coraline by Neil Gaiman is a story that follows a young girl, Coraline Jones, as she discovers an alternate universe in her new home. While seeming like the perfect utopia at first, with another mother and father, Coraline quickly realizes the true intentions of her other mother and must find a way to destroy her as she tries to get Coraline to stay in this alternate universe. If you like books that make you feel unsettled, you will like this book
This is a lovely, sweet, charming story, and also really sinister and creepy. Classic Neil Gaiman. Listened to the audiobook, great narration by Dawn French.
A creepy yet endearing read. I love the movie and finally decided to read the book to fulfill a reading challenge prompt. This is one of those rare times where I love both the movie and the book. Coraline is an unexpected heroine. Calm but acknowledging her fear along the way.
FYI Neil Gaiman has a lovely voice. He narrated the audiobook.
Lookie what I painted. 😍
Yes, those are real buttons for her eyes.

I could have sworn that I posted this when I listened to this. But anyway, I listened to the Audible version of it. I loved the production of it! It was great!

Neil Gaiman is such a favourite of mine; I've been wanting to read this book since I watched the film years ago and it definitely didn't disappoint🪡🧵 #Scarathlon #TeamMonsterMash
Love this book more with every re-read. 💜
The mix of creepy with the wonderment of childhood imagination pulls me into this story every time I read it. If you've never read it, do yourself a favor and add it to your TBR.

“It is astonishing just how much of what we are can be tied to the beds we wake up in in the morning, and it is astonishing how fragile that can be.”
A perfect example of speculative fiction. It breaks down the 3rd wall and creates this book that is filled with imagery. It shows how you can be kind, curious, and courageous.
A book that‘s with mystery and mysterious events. A wonderful that keeps you on your toes the whole time.
I love this movie/book! I would definitely want to show this in my classrooms, to show that we should be appreciated of what we have and that the grass isn‘t always greener on the other side. I believe this is also a great movie to show because of how beautifully told it is and how beautiful the movie is!
Coraline is a book/movie about a young girl who is unhappy in her life, and finds a passage way to another world where everything is greater. She finds out that things aren‘t always as they seem, and sometimes what we have is what‘s best for us.
