This book is super useful for guys without communication skills
“Everybody in the world is seeking happiness—and there is one sure way to find it. That is by controlling your thoughts. Happiness doesn't depend on outward conditions. It depends on inner conditions.”
A milestone! Thanks @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego for being the like that put me at the mark! Does this mean y'all like me? 😁😁😁
Someone told me this book still held up. It‘s not that I disagree, but I suspect that many women naturally approach situations in the recommended ways (e.g., kindness, flattery, make them think it‘s their idea) because men still don‘t listen to us in the same way they listen to each other. So I felt more annoyed than inspired by it. In fact, it often felt downright condescending. 🤷🏼♀️
Love this book so much...
I find that smiles are bringing me dollars, many dollars everyday.... There is nothing either good or evil but your thought makes it so and if you aspire to be a great conversationalist be an attentive listener, to be interesting be interested. A man without a smiling face must not open a shop........
Here lies the body of William Jay,
Who died maintaining his right of way--
He was right, dead right, as he sped along,
But he's just as dead as if he were wrong.
There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so
"I consider my ability to arouse enthusiasm among my people... The greatest asset I possess, and the way to develop the best that is in a person is by appreciation and encouragement... I never critizie anyone. I believe in giving a person incentive to work. So I am anxious to praise but loath to find fault."
Such an interesting mindset, and such a great correlation to positive reinforcement.
Once I did bad and that I heard ever/Twice I did good, but that I heard never
I understand why this is a classic. The advice is still very relevant. The #audiobook is really well done though it could probably use a refresh. The cover could use an update also.
When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bristling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity.

Prompt: Friendship Day
There are so many good books with excellent examples of friends. These books were the ones that came to my mind first.
3/5 🌟 Just finished it today! Not sure how to feel, not really the book I'd recommend to someone who wants to make friends but definitely one for people in #business #sales and the #workplace. The tips come off manipulative when applied to actual friendships but fit right in for businesses. Also, many of the examples felt convenient so I took them with a grain of salt. Wouldn't spend money on this, the tips aren't anything eye opening #selfhelp
My teacher recommended this book to me a year ago and I'm finally getting to it ??? so far so good, the principles make me think "well DUH" up until I realize that maybe it's not so duh, sort of like the common sense not being so common sense anymore, enjoying it so far #selfhelp #selfimprovement #work #relations
This book is a classic. In short, everyone should read this book. The world would become a better place. Then re-read it. I still have a lot to learn from this title.
Very interesting book full of good practical advice for dealing with people. Although it‘s a quick read, it‘s packed with sensible advice and I‘ll definitely be re-reading it multiple times (as the author suggests doing) in order to absorb as much of the advice as possible and put it into effect. I expect to update this review in the future as I try out Carnegie‘s tactics.
“It isn‘t what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it.”
― Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends and Influence People
A book as valid today as when it was written! A classic.
The first ever book which i read. A whole lot of example to understand the action points that should be followed in our day today life.
What is active listening? Simple, just pay attention to what people are saying, ask questions, be interested and just let the other person speak. By listening we are doing a lot of good in the world.
(This is the spanish version, but it basically says: an easy way to become a good conversationalist. 👇👇comment below if you know the original).
I have not even finished it and it is already a life changing book. It is not a personal-growth nor self-help nor coaching book, it is simply a book based on research and sincerity. I will recommend to everybody reading it
“ON MAY 7, 1931, the most sensational manhunt New York City had ever known had come to its climax.”

I think this is the first time I've ever caught one of the litfluence "milestones" right on the nose. No giveaway involved. Just patting myself on the back for managing this feat. Sorry.
(It only took me close to three years to hit this! ?)
Born into poverty, Dale Carnagey joined his high school debating team, became a top salesman, changed his name slightly and made a lot of money telling people how to manipulate others.

A must read for everyone! Great book that is still relevant today
This is in the same vein for me as how to keep people from pushing your buttons. Both helpful.

This one is for you @SassenachTheBookWizard we all know how much you hate book covers that don't match the content.
So, I reached this milestone last night when I was sleeping! Thanks everyone! #15000litfluence
By the far the best book i have ever read on developing human relations... this should be a no-brainer for all the book nerds. Definitely recommend it for everyone.

Must read book, without a doubt.
This book was not what I expected. I think it is done a disservice by its title, which to me sounded like a selfish approach to get ahead. I resisted reading it but wanted to read all the classic sales books and I‘m glad I did. Rather than teaching how to be fake it actually lays out the reasons why it pays to be nice. What a refreshing reminder of how the world should operate. The principles still hold true even 80 years later!
“Let me repeat: The principles taught in this book will work only when they come from the heart. I am not advocating a bag of tricks. I am talking about a new way of life.” ❤️ key to the whole book right there❤️
Reading this book at a nail salon.......Finding myself trying to hide the title. Why? I‘m actually really enjoying this book and have been pleasantly surprised at how genuine and true the advice is. The title makes it sound like you are learning how to manipulate and deceive but it doesn‘t feel that way. Did I compliment my nail tech on the massage and get an extra 5 minutes? Maybe 😇. But it made both of us feel good.....
“Don‘t criticize, condemn or complain”. #WhatWouldLincolnDo 🎩
Principle #2: Give honest and sincere appreciation. 🙏
Might as well start with the classics........2/100. #100books1000days
Buddha said : “Hatred is never ended by hatred but by love,” and a misunderstanding is never ended by an argument but by tact, diplomacy, conciliation and a sympathetic desire to see the other person‘s viewpoint.
A definite touchstone on behavioural psychology. This book is more about how to program your own self to get along well in society than influencing others.
By fighting you never get enough, by yielding You get more than expected
Took me a while to finish that one, geez! This is two books in one. Did not realize this was published in 1936/1944! Great, sound ideas for life and work. How to Stop Worrying second book got tedious after a while. Worth it overall.

Started this a couple weeks ago but my September TBR is a Dale Carnegie book edition that includes both How To Win Friends and Influence People and How to Stop Worrying and Start Living all in one. Some things that seem obvious, some good reminders, and some good new ideas that will help me start the school year with my students, parents, and colleagues right!
