It was fun to go back to my childhood detective days & reread the first book with #EBBR I remembered most of the stories in this one & how smart they made me feel when I managed to figure them out as a child (& now as an adult although how much was memory & how much was getting hopefully smarter as I aged!) 😉😂 I have the 2nd book checked out from the library & I‘m looking forward to it.

Spending my #HyggeHour with Encyclopedia Brown for #EBBR & when I finish it I may try to start Run or I may go to sleep. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The dried cinnamon Fuji apples are pretty much total sugar but they are so darn good! 😋

How did Monday get here so soon again? 😬 It‘s going to be another busy work week but teaching workshops online so no Hilo trip.

DELIGHTFUL! I can‘t believe I never read these as a kid. I adore the format - short stories with the solution to the mysteries at the end, giving you time to puzzle out the solution, if you can. This was a lot of fun. #EBBR

This made me laugh. I wonder if that's been there since 1963 or if it's been added to new editions to help the post-internet generations. 🤔😁

I loved this series as a kid and really enjoyed revisiting the first book for #EBBR. I had the entire series and both of my kids read them when they were younger. Such a fun series and format.

Loved these as a young person, had forgotten about them until @Ruthiella started #EBBR (thanks) and I still do!
Encyclopedia Brown helps his father (police chief) solve crimes, and sets up his own detective agency. Very short stories where the reader is asked to figure out how the crime was solved. Really good read for young people (5th or 6th grade maybe) interested in detective stories.

I have never read or heard of this series, but I am looking forward to reading it and others in the series.

I read this series when I was young and it brought out my love for mysteries, detective stories and even series reading.
My daughter fell in love with them as a kid and is a big reader of many genres but loves mysteries the most.

Day 24 of #scarathlondailyprompts is lies.
I adore this series. I was ecstatic when my son was enthusiastic about reading these too.
The lies Bugs Meany tells brings Encyclopedia a lot of business, and he always outsmarts Bugs.

Here I will note 365 books (or as many as I will have before I get tired) that have shaped my taste in literature. No explanations, no reviews. Just the cover of the book.

Well, since I had to set aside The House of the Seven Gables until I can find a copy with larger (non-microscopic) print, I pulled this classic off the shelf. I used to read these as a kid but only ever solved about half of them. This was fun!

Getting down to the wire here with #20Series20Days! For Day Eighteen, I‘m going with the Encyclopedia Brown series which I read as a kid. More Sherlock Holmes than Nancy Drew or The Hardy Boys, Encyclopedia solved most cases using science and/or logic. Loved ‘em! 😍

#riotgrams theme for the day is beloved series. I used to devour Encyclopedia Brown books. These books were like Sherlock Holmes for youth: everything from backwards writing to subtle clues to brain puzzles, I ate these books up. I have no idea why they are not as popular nowadays, except that I doubt that kids know what an encyclopedia is. Lol! I always wanted to write the female-led version ... Anyone else love this series?

Day23 #FeistyFeb #boyinthetitle Apparently the few books I have read with 'boy' in the title (at least the recorded ones) were from childhood, pictured in the top row. The bottom row has two unread boy-titled books that have been on my #TBR list for ages: 'About a Boy' & 'A Suitable Boy' and one that I am anticipating-'New Boy' is the upcoming Hogarth Shakespeare adaptation of Othello by Tracy Chevalier due out in May. 📚👍

#FeistyFeb confession.... Soooooo according to my Libib app I have no books with the word boy in the title, Google helped me with this one. I loved these books as a kid!
