Well, I‘ve had enough of working today (and all weekend 😡) so I‘m going to sit down by the fire, no doubt under a heavy dog, and make a start on one of these lovelies. (Or all of them, knowing me!)

The Wilson is my #bookspin for January, and Queen is right in the middle of the bingo board, and I haven‘t made a dent in #readingtheamericas yet.

I‘m also reading an #arc of The New Life and listening to 2am in Little America.

Cinfhen Sigh, gone was one of my FAVORITE books two years ago❣️❣️❣️I did audio, which was read by author and SO GOOD 😊 3w
Cathythoughts Sitting down by the fire to read ❤️Enjoy 3w

squirrelbrain @TrishB - other than 3 days off over Xmas, I‘ve worked every day since mid-November. ☹️ I keep saying I‘ll have a weekend off but it doesn‘t happen. 3w
TrishB That‘s not good 😞 take care! Hope the weekend off comes soon. 3w
Ruthiella If I didn‘t have a the weekend, I‘d be in big trouble. I‘m already dreading Monday. 😰 You‘ve got some great books there. I really liked 3w
SamAnne I really enjoyed the audio of Sigh, Gone. 3w
squirrelbrain Glad to hear you liked that one @Ruthiella All the days just blur into one at the moment, but at least I don‘t get the #sundaygrumps! (It‘s every day instead! 😬) 3w
BarbaraBB Sorry to hear you‘ve been working so hard during the weekend - again. I hope you‘ve had a relaxing afternoon at least! 3w
Megabooks I hope you have a good week, Helen, and that you were able to enjoy the weekend a bit. 💜 3w

I‘ve no idea what to read at the moment, as I‘m in that weird limbo waiting for next year‘s challenges. I picked Adam O‘Riordan‘s The Falling Thread off my shelf but that gets average reviews so back it‘s gone, for now.

I couldn‘t get Minnie‘s memoir on audio, following @Megabooks recommendation, but I‘m sure print will be just as good.

I‘ll finish A German Christmas today and will have some driving time tomorrow to listen to more of Dinosaurs.

Cinfhen I‘m saving the Driver but I‘m looking forward to it‼️‼️ 2mo
Megabooks I hope you enjoy it!! 👍🏻👍🏻 2mo

Apologies Cindy; I haven‘t done a #bookreport or a #weeklyforecast for a couple of weeks now as I haven‘t had the time. I haven‘t had a day off for 3 weeks, inc weekends, which means I‘ve only finished 3 books in December so far. 😞

Anyhow, I finally found the time to start these two beautiful Christmas books last night, from the lovely @julesG - note the Xmassy bookmarks too!

I‘ve also just started Mouth to Mouth & The Rabbit Hutch, for #tob.

julesG My pleasure! Hope you can put your feet up and enjoy some quiet time. 2mo

I‘ll continue to dip into Bibliomaniac, which is really fun. I started School last night, and it‘s on the #ToB longlist. I also borrowed Cult Classic from BorrowBox due to ToB. I reserved Haven too and it was available in a few weeks time, but then appeared overnight!

I‘ll hopefully finish the Perry today. My next audio was going to be Olga (ToB again!) but I wonder if it would fit for Puerto Rico for #readingtheamericas23?

squirrelbrain It seems to be set in NYC, although about Puerto Ricans. I think the author is American-born too, so maybe it‘s a bit of a stretch? 2mo
TrishB I‘ll look out for your review on Schools- I have on my tbr! 2mo
rockpools Have a fantastic week Helen! I think I have Olga on kindle somewhere, so will look out for your review if you decide to read it now. 2mo

I started After Story yesterday and I am *loving* it so far, @CarolynM ! ❤️

I hope to start Agatha today, for #nonfictionnovember.

On Tuesday I‘m going to the Lake District (for work, not pleasure!) which will be 5 to 6 hours driving in one day. I‘ve just downloaded Matthew Perry to listen to but could do with mixing it up with some fiction too. I have an Audible credit - anyone got any recos of recent great fiction on audio?

Cinfhen The Matthew Perry audio is SO GOOD!!! Im gonna think about a fiction audio & get back to you. 3mo

Taste (@mitch) and The Undertaking were my next two picks from my selection jar. I‘m almost halfway through both, and loving them!

I‘m not sure I should be reading The Undertaking though Cindy as, from the hints you‘ve been dropping, I‘m wondering if it might fit a prompt for #booked2023?! 🤣

I‘m also listening to Mary Jane for #pop22.

I seem to be getting nowhere very quickly with the Irving though…🤷‍♀️

TrishB Aren‘t you enjoying the Irving? It‘s a big commitment if your not isn‘t it! 3mo
BarbaraBB The Undertaking is one I want to read too after 3mo
squirrelbrain I‘m not *not* enjoying it..🤔 @TrishB - I just can‘t seem to get into it; it‘s not grabbing me just yet. I‘ll keep going for a while longer though…. 3mo

squirrelbrain I saw that yesterday @TrishB 😬 3mo
Cinfhen I‘m glad you‘re enjoying Undertaking!!! I think you‘re safe to continue 😉 3mo
Cinfhen Mary Jane was SO FUN on audio!!! 3mo
squirrelbrain Phew re The Undertaking @Cinfhen - I thought it may be a WWII related prompt, or perhaps a gift from a friend, or an author you read in 2022. Hmm, maybe I‘m spending too much time trying to decipher your emojis…bring on November! 🤣 3mo
Cinfhen Ohhhhh…..you might have actually figured one out!!!! Well done 🙌🏻💓😁 3mo
squirrelbrain Ooh, I wonder which one?! @Cinfhen 🤔 3mo

I‘ve added so many fab books to my physical TBR pile in recent weeks that I decided to make a selection jar (squirrel mug!).

My first pick was the Almanac (@youneverarrived) and I thought that might be a book to dip in and out of so I also picked The Age of Miracles (@oryx). Turns out I can‘t put either book down!

I started the Irving 6 weeks ago when I got the ARC and didn‘t get very far, so I‘m picking it up again now.

squirrelbrain Apologies if it looks like a spider has taken up residence on my books; it‘s just a tassel from a bookmark! 🤣 4mo
TrishB 😂😂 I think the Irving is out soon. I may put on my Christmas list! 4mo
Cinfhen Excellent choices!!! I‘m also curious about the new Irving but it‘s quite a #Chunkster 4mo

BarbaraBB Looks like a shiny and inviting stack. 4mo
Oryx I'm glad Miracles has made the unputdownable category! I really thought it was great. How is the Irving going? 4mo
squirrelbrain Well, I haven‘t read any more of the Irving since Gladstone‘s @oryx, so I really need to read a few more chapters to see what I think…. 4mo
squirrelbrain It‘s 900 pages! @Cinfhen 😱 4mo

I‘m going to start Counterfeit today - thank you @Caroline2 ! 😘

The others are all my current picks to take to the Reading Retreat weekend on Friday, but I reserve the right to change my mind several (make that a dozen) times before then!

I also have Corrections in Ink on audio, which I‘ll probably finish on the drive over there, after which I have the Anna Wintour biography lined up on audio.

BarbaraBB Great choices. I am especially looking forward to the O‘Farrell! 4mo
Caroline2 Ohhh good looking stack. I hope you enjoy it. I found it very readable. 👍 4mo

Tomorrow and Case Study are ongoing; I hope to finish both this week. If I do then I‘ll make a start on Trust.

I started Treacle Walker on audio this morning, but only listened to about 15 minutes. (Having said that, it‘s less than 2 hours anyway)

After that I‘m undecided whether to use this month‘s Audible credit on Glory… I‘m not sure if it‘s my thing but can‘t get it for ‘free‘ anywhere else.

Have a good week everyone!

Cinfhen Lots of #Booker progress!!! 6mo

Oh dear, it appears I collected even more reservations from the library yesterday, to add to the eleventy-two I already have! From this pile, I‘ll read Trespasses this week, as someone else has already reserved it.

I‘ve just started the Hart, which I think I‘m going to enjoy. Maps, on audio, is so good but a tough listen so can only do a bit at a time.

Then it depends what makes the Booker #longlist….

TrishB A lovely pile 😁 6mo
Cathythoughts You are going great Helen 👏🏻 I‘ve fallen behind, I‘m waiting for the list to come out now and I‘ll decide what I can do then 👍🏻😁 6mo

Cathythoughts Oh stop ! 😂 the flipping stress of it all …. Im sure your ones will be in there. I havnt even touched the surface… I‘m just waiting now ( 2 days. ) excited to see what comes up. (edited) 6mo
squirrelbrain I know @Cathythoughts - at least I‘ve got a huuuuge library pile of ‘possibles‘ and, if they‘re not on the list, I‘m sure some will go back unread… 6mo
Cathythoughts I love the excitement/ drama of it all. ♥️ 6mo
BarbaraBB I‘m waiting eagerly for the longlist too. Not sure if I will read them all but at least I can make up my mind then! 6mo
squirrelbrain It depends what they sound like doesn‘t it @BarbaraBB but, you know me, I‘m sure I‘ll try to read them all, regardless! 🤷‍♀️ 6mo
BarbaraBB You will! And you will pull me in probably 😉 6mo
Caroline2 Oh I have Trespassers and Devotion too if ya fancy a buddy read?? 6mo
squirrelbrain You know I‘m always up for a buddy read! @Caroline2 The only issue is that I‘ve already started Trespasses - about 70 pages in but not that much time to read at the mo so you‘ll probably catch me up! 6mo
Caroline2 @squirrelbrain Okey dokey, I just finished a book last night. I was gonna catch up on my chunkster but I can squeeze in Trespasses. 😉 6mo

Not much change from yesterday‘s #bookreport as I have these 4 ongoing and *must* finish them before I start any more… (chances of that happening?! 🤔)

Brown Girls on audio is only short, so I may add something else later in the week. (See, I‘m already coming up with excuses! 🤣)

I‘m halfway through True Biz and have only just started the other two. A busy week to come so maybe not much time for reading anyway…

Cinfhen I enjoyed Brown Girls on audio and it is VERY SHORT ❣️🙌🏻🎧 (edited) 8mo

I‘ll finish How High for #camplitsy (of course!) and start on True Biz.

I‘m a bit more than half through The Shipping News, which I‘m still enjoying. Loving the Ali on audio; only an hour or two to go on that.

Just started Metronome as it‘s featured on BBC2‘s Between The Covers this week; it appears to be an apocalyptic novel 🤔! @Oryx @Hooked_on_books

Hope everyone has a good week!

thereadingpal Good luck with your reading! 8mo

I‘ll continue on with How High for #camplitsy and also hope to finish We Own This City this week.

I hadn‘t realised #summerheat weekend was so close (how is it nearly June already?!) so I‘ll start Seven Days for that.

Love Marriage is reviewed on the BBC programme Between the Covers on Wednesday so I started that today. I won‘t finish it for then, even though I‘m reading on Kindle as well as listening, but loving it so far!

Cathythoughts Busy week Helen 😁 enjoy. x 8mo

This week I shall mostly be reading black books!

I started Ghost before I went on holiday but didn‘t take it with me. It‘s very unusual and atmospheric; I‘m enjoying it @Cathythoughts

Also about halfway through We Own This City; it‘s fascinating but perhaps not quite as amazing as I hoped.

And then, of course, I need to make a start on How High for #campToB, as I‘ll be Camp Leader in June!

Have a great week everyone!

Suddenly things have got rather busy on the book front! I‘m already reading The Namesake and the Prince Philip book; both are great. Just started The Love Hypothesis on audio this morning, for #pop22.

My library has just changed from Libby to BorrowBox and has pushed both my Abedin and Guncle holds at me this morning; there doesn‘t appear to be a postpone option like on Libby?

The Glass Hotel is a #buddyread starting today.

julesG Oooh, I really really liked The Guncle. 9mo

squirrelbrain I‘ll let you know @BarbaraBB ! 9mo
squirrelbrain I recall your review @julesG and I‘ve been trying to get hold of it ever since. I think I‘d rather have audio, but I can‘t so…. 🤷‍♀️ 9mo
Lyssa131330 My library has been using BorrowBox for a while and I haven‘t found an option to push the reserve but on the plus side it normally lets me renew a book even if someone is waiting, which is really handy for those times you only have a few chapters left to finish it off 9mo
squirrelbrain That‘s good to know @Lyssa131330 as I borrowed 4 books all at once and not sure if I‘ll get time to read them all! Also a niggle though, Libby used to allow 4 loans AND 4 holds - BorrowBox is a total of 4. 😠 9mo

I‘m listening to Rebel on audio, fascinating so far. I‘ve just started Build Your House ( from the #womensprize long list) and Mermaid Singing. (I decided to read this first before our #buddyread @CarolynM to get an idea of the background).

Haven‘t started the Yanagihara yet and thought it looked like a smaller book than her other two but the writing is *tiny*….!

Hope everyone has a good week!

I seem to be going unintentionally monochrome for most of my books this week, other than Will. Absolutely loving this on audio; there‘s so many extras that would be missed in print.

Unorthodox is my last book for this quarter‘s #booked2022.

Salt Lick is on the Women‘s Prize longlist - it‘s a little bit pandemic-y for me at the moment.

Haven‘t started the Towles yet, but really looking forward to it.

The Great Mistake and the Lebowitz are the next two that I‘ve picked off my too-large library pile. Started The Great Mistake last night - seems good so far.

I‘ll also continue with Say Nothing, a mix of audio and print.

Tirra Lirra is a #buddyread with @BarbaraBB and I might pick something else to take on our short 2-night camping trip - depends how far I get with these….

Hope everyone has a good week!

I‘ll see how I get on with Lincoln this evening, if I can motivate myself, as I‘m quite enjoying it when I *do* pick it up.

Bees is another #buddyread with @Caroline2 - a joint effort to clear our TBR shelves.

The Lippman is the next random pick off the TBR.

Hopefully I‘ll finally finish The Sentence this week as I need to drive to a couple of meetings so can listen in the car. Our Riches was on Libby, on audio, and sounds interesting.

TrishB Look at that colour coordination 😁 have a good week. 11mo

squirrelbrain Yes, why not @BarbaraBB ? I‘ll be away camping (hopefully) for some of the week, but I‘ll still need a book or two (or six!) won‘t I? 😁 11mo
BarbaraBB Spring is in the air, how lovely you go camping! You‘ll need lots of books indeed 😉 11mo

Ghosts of Spain has been ongoing for some time, but it‘s really fascinating.

Mermaid is a #buddyread with @Caroline2 and @julesG - haven‘t got any further than yesterday as last night was more of a TV night rather than reading.

Primates is the next one off my TBR shelf (picked by random number)- it gets very mixed reviews so we‘ll see.

Hopefully get some #audiowalking time to listen to The Sentence, but the weather still looks iffy this week.

TrishB Yes still looking very iffy! 11mo

Hopefully I‘ll get some more #audiowalking time this week so I can finish The Maid. I‘ll dip into some more of Ghosts too.

I‘ve only just started the top two, but both seem great so far.

The bottom 3 are ARCs due to be published this week so I‘m going to try to read at least one. Not sure why I feel the urge to suddenly be up to date with NetGalley when I have books on there published over a year ago…. But there you go! 😁 I‘ve heard good things about Black Cake so may go for that one first.

Hope everyone has a great week!

I‘m about 70% through Prodigal Summer and really enjoying it so far. About 30% through Four Thousand Weeks and can‘t seem to get into it just yet. I‘m certainly not finding it uplifting as it claims on the blurb.

I should finish Crying on audio this week; not sure what I‘ll listen to next though. I do have some Kingsolver short essays on Scribd audio.

And finally, I just fancied Rewind, off my physical TBR shelf.

Loving both Flight Behaviour (#authoramonth) and Tiddas (#nywd)which is on audio. I think I might finish that this week, as I have about 3 hours to go so I‘ll move on to the Setterfield, which is my other #nywd on audio.

Fault Lines is also for #nywd (I‘m getting through them, @LeeRHarry !😁). The two other books arrived on Libby today and are both short graphic books that will take about 10 minutes each to read. 🤣

I‘m about halfway through Copeland Cane (from the #ToBshortlist) and enjoying it so far; should finish it this week.

Small Things Like These has just come up on Libby and is very short, more like a novella.

Infinite Country is a #buddyread with @BarbaraBB - I have this as both e-book and audio on Scribd so I may mix it up, as I haven‘t got a clue what else to listen to on audio.

It‘s turned chilly here so it‘s definitely fire-on weather! Started Past the Shallows last night, which feels as though it‘s going to be a tough one. @TrishB So then I‘ve picked something fluffy for after that!

Then of course is our #readingretreat trip to Gladstone‘s Library on Friday. Here‘s my tentative pile, plus Kindle as I plan to read the latest Kim Stone too. I reserve the right to change my mind at least 17 times before Friday! 😁

TrishB I haven‘t even started the weekend planning, will probably also change my mind many times. Past the Shallows is lump in your throat stuff. 1y
Cathythoughts Bit of a dip in temperature here too … I love it ❤️ yay 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 fires 1y
LeeRHarry Ooh Past the Shallows is a tough one - love Favel Parrett though 😊 1y

BarbaraBB That‘s the retreat with @TrishB and @Cathythoughts and some more Littens? So awesome! And you cannot go wrong with Once There We‘re Wolves! (edited) 1y
BarbaraBB Wow, so cool. Please share pictures! 1y
squirrelbrain Oh we will @BarbaraBB - you‘ll be sick of seeing us next weekend! 🤣 1y
Cathythoughts Oh have a great time you guys !!! Sooo exciting.. all you lovely Littens & my birthday twin 👯‍♀️… Enjoy, I‘m so jealous XXXX take pics please 1y
CarolynM Past the Shallows - beautifully written but it's bleak. Hope you all have a wonderful time at the retreat. 1y

Forgot to post my #bookreport yesterday so here it is alongside my #weeklyforecast.

A good week last week - Cloud Cuckoo land was the absolute stand-out.

Just started Passing on audio, and about halfway through the Redondo, which is my last prompt for #booked2021.

The Franzen came off hold on Libby a few days ago so I need to get to that ASAP as it‘s a chunkster…. And Little Reunions, from @BarbaraBB is the next book out of my lucky dip jar.

BarbaraBB I hope you‘ll like it! 1y
Cinfhen Excellent week and looks like another winning week in the works 🥰 1y
Megabooks Loved Crossroads! I hope you do too. 1y

The Scent Keeper is the next book out of my lucky dip jar; looking forward to it! @robinb

I requested Josh‘s book on Libby and it came through yesterday - I‘m an 80s kid rather than 90s but thought it might be interesting; Neighbours on TV twice a day was definitely a thing when we were kids!

I‘ll also listen to some more of the Doerr on audio, although I‘ve got some work to do this week, so less time for #audiowalking.

Cinfhen The Scent Keeper has been lingering on my TBR too!! Will be curious to hear your thoughts ☺️ 1y
Caroline2 I loved neighbours!!! 😆 1y
robinb Yay! I‘ll be interested to see what you think! 1y
Cathythoughts Looking good 👍🏻❤️ 1y

Struggling a bit with the Roth. I parked it last week when I was on holiday but it‘s for my course so I‘ll try to plough through it this week.

Just started ‘The Cat..‘ on audio, which won‘t take long as it‘s only 5 hours; then I‘ll move onto the Doerr.(lots of post-holiday ironing to do! 🙄).

The Grohl came up on Libby last week, with no hold so I snagged it. About 40% in - good so far!

Hope your weekend is fab and all is going well Cindy 😘

Amiable I struggled with this Roth, too. I thought his novel “The Plot Against America” was a better and more engrossing read. 1y
squirrelbrain I‘ve read some more this afternoon @Amiable and I‘m getting (a bit) more into it. Clearly wasn‘t the right type of book to read on holiday though! 😬 1y
Caroline2 Be interesting to hear what you think of the Doer. It sounds really interesting. 1y
Cinfhen Ohhhh, maybe Grohl is on US Libby… must investigate 1y

My October is BUSY so I‘m keeping things light and mostly audios. Three Sisters publishes on Tuesday - another fictionalized story based on real people who survived the Holocaust. It‘s compelling and sad but something is a bit off for me. I‘m at 50% so it could pick up. The other 3 books I‘m excited for and they are all on audio. Traveling (🤞🏼🤞🏼) this week so I may have spotty WiFi.
Have a wonderful week xx

Had to go out peopling this afternoon - so long since we‘ve had to do that! An engagement party, luckily it was lovely weather so it was outside.

Anyway, that‘s why my #weeklyforecast is late today…

I‘m planning on starting As I Lay Dying and Ceremony, ready for my American Literature course that starts at the end of the month. Just started Listen, which is an ARC and about halfway through Mrs March on audio.

Have a good week, all! 😁

Cinfhen Ugh!! Peopling!!! Glad the weather was nice 😊 Enjoy your reads!!!! 1y
TrishB Good plan 👍🏻 1y
Caroline2 Argh! Peopling!! Scary!! It‘s weird socialising again isn‘t it. I‘m still find it nerve wreaking! I‘ve read the sound and the fury (which was mega weird and hardwork!). I‘ll be interested to hear what you think of Dying. 1y
See All 7 Comments
Hooked_on_books I read Ceremony many moons ago and don‘t remember details, but I remember loving it. 1y
Cathythoughts Peopling 😳🙄 here we go again .. I have to go to a wedding this Friday.. I think I‘ll find the peopling exhausting. Books look good 👍🏻💫 1y
squirrelbrain That‘s good to know @Hooked_on_books as I‘m quite nervous about reading it - hopefully I‘ll love it too! 1y
squirrelbrain Peopling is difficult for us bookworms isn‘t it?! @Caroline2 @Cathythoughts 1y

A joint #bookreport and #weeklyforecast this week, as I seem to be reading far too many books at once again, so the two things are pretty similar.

The top 3 are books that I finished this week. Loved Early Morning Riser, Married to Bhutan was a pick and A Passage North was a so-so.

Loving all of the 6 ongoing / forecast books, apart from The Fortune Men which I‘m struggling with a little bit.

Have a great week everyone!

BarbaraBB I wanted to read A Passage North so much but now you make me hesitate! 1y
squirrelbrain Don‘t let me put you off @BarbaraBB - you might love it! 1y
rockpools All the books 😁. I‘m still technically reading A Passage North (as I have been for at least 2 months). I really not to make that to-bail-or-not decision. Hope your current 6 remain fab! 1y

Thought I‘d go for a couple of hardback chunksters this week….

I can‘t resist a New York book and the cover / spine of this one really called to me from the library shelf.

The NF, about Jeffrey Epstein, got great reviews in the press a few weeks ago so I‘m hoping for good things.

Have a great week everyone!

DrexEdit With blurbs from John Irving and Lev Grossman; it would be hard to go wrong with that one! 😊 1y
TrishB Enjoy 👍🏻 1y
squirrelbrain I certainly hope so @DrexEdit ! 1y

Unwell Women is proving to be a dense, difficult read, but still interesting so I will persevere…. The other two ongoing books are audio so I‘ll alternate with those, although not sure I‘ll get much audio walking done this week.

Up next, I‘m thinking these two… one for #saudiarabia for #readingasia2021 (thanks @rockpools !) and the other as a #buddyread with @BarbaraBB

rockpools Hope you like it! Is that you finished with the challenge then? Have a good week, Helen. 1y
squirrelbrain I have one more to go after that @rockpools - hopefully should read both this month! Have a great week yourself! 1y
Cinfhen Woohoo 🙌🏻 I‘m still missing about 4/5 countries 1y
BarbaraBB You‘re finishing Asia this month? So good! And I am looking forward to Stone Angel. I thought Carolyn would join us too? 1y

This week I am mostly reading books with long titles that begin with the word ‘Everyone‘! 🤪

I know it‘s a bit early to start Witch for CampToB @BarbaraBB but I never know how much audio time I‘ll get, so better safe than sorry. I‘ll probably finish the other ‘Everyone‘ today - it‘s OK. Unwell Women is quite dense so will take a bit of getting through and, so far, I think the Osman is better than the first book!

Have a fab week everyone!

Cinfhen I‘m excited for the new murder club 💕 2y
marleed I loved EKYMIsaW and the Thursday Murder Club! 2y
squirrelbrain I just listened to a bit of Witch on an audio walk @marleed - very snarky and I think I‘m going to like it! 2y

I left my #weeklyforecast until later in the day as I couldn‘t figure out what I wanted to read this week…but I still can‘t!

The three books shown here are all ongoing; Sunset is on audio and only about an hour to go so I should do that this week, even though no time for audio walking. The other two I‘m completely engrossed in, which probably isn‘t helping the choice for next books. #bookhangover incoming!

TrishB I already don‘t want to read what I posted this morning! 2y
rockpools I LOVE that Sunset cover. Have a good week Helen. 2y

I started We Begin at The End yesterday and can‘t put it down….have you had time to start it yet @Caroline2 ?

The Shafak is calling to me (ie it‘s in the right place on my #bookspinbingo card!) - I think you sent me this one Caroline, so you‘re to blame for a lot of this weeks forecast!

I can also blame @rockpools too, though, for reminding me about the Wakenhyrst buddy read. And…about 2 hours to go on my audio of The Other Black Girl.

BarbaraBB I bet you‘ll finish it today! 2y
rockpools Oops. Sorry! I‘m interested in all 3 of your others (and also not looking because 📚📚📚😁) Have a good week Helen! 2y

Cathythoughts I hear all good things about The Other Black Girl ( I might do audio 2y
squirrelbrain I‘ve just finished Begin At The End @Cathythoughts - very good! The Other Black Girl is not what I expected at all, which I think everyone has said, but the audio is great! 2y

I started Priestdaddy last night (a gift from @Oryx in a pre-pandemic meet-up!) - very funny so far. Also started The Bamboo Stalk last night, for #readingasia2021 #kuwait.

Hoping to start We Begin At The End on Friday, as a #buddyread with @Caroline2 . I‘ll try to listen to some of The Other BlackGirl on audio, but it‘s not looking promising for #audiowalking this week - the forecast is for rain (and too many work meetings!)

TrishB A good week ahead there👍🏻 2y
AlaMich Priestdaddy is great on audio too, since she knows exactly how her family members sound. 😂 2y

Arkrayder @cathythoughts. Might seem like a random question, but is the Kindle Oasis worth the money? Thinking of buying one. I‘m using a paperwhite right now. Thank you! 2y
Cathythoughts @Arkrayder No problem 👍🏻😁. I have it a few years now & I originally got it for audio books ( with Bluetooth accessories) ( you couldn‘t get audio on the paper white then ) .. but I‘ve ended up only using my phone for audible. I like it & it is a nice change .. I have really enjoyed it , but it‘s starting to break down a bit ( little things , but I can still buy books & read on it ). I‘ll probably have to get a new one soon too. 👇🏻 2y
Cathythoughts @Arkrayder I‘m really enjoying it. Mainly it‘s just that bit bigger & slimmer .. aesthetics ! … I hope that‘s some help. Let me know how you get on 👍🏻 (edited) 2y

I started The Other Black Girl on audio yesterday - at the moment it‘s a bit long-winded, which is annoying me! I will persevere, but I just got notified about the Biden on Libby audio so thought I‘d give that a shot instead.

Loving Milk Fed so far, and Journey to Khiva is from the (physical) library for #readingasia2021.

Have a great week, everyone!

I started Still Life a couple of days ago - not as good as Tin Man but still loving it. I plan to start Empire of Pain tonight. Nine Nasty Words is a #buddyread with @julesG - I‘ll hopefully get enough time for an #audiowalk this week in order to make a start on it.

And then.... it‘s the most wonderful time of the month! #bookspinbingo will determine what else I make a start on this week!

Cinfhen Ohhhhh, a new Winman!!! Did you know @KarenUK 2y
Cinfhen I LOVED Empire of Pain. Such an engrossing story. Super interesting and plenty to make your blood boil 2y

Been doing a bit of campervan packing this morning, ready to go camping. Talking 3 books even though we‘re only going for 4 days and won‘t have much reading time...!

The top 2 are for #readingasia2021 (#taiwan and #afghanistan) and I‘ve been saving the bottom one especially for camping - I think it sounds perfect for a few days doing noting in nature!

Caroline2 Oh yeah, I‘d be interested in Kate‘s book too. Let me know what you think. And yes, always better to have too many books. I went to Ibiza when I was 21, my friends laughed at me for taking a book. I finished it on day 3 and was then left totally bereft as I didn‘t have another book to read!!! 😆 I always take loads of books away now! 👍 2y
rockpools Have a FAB time! And what @Caroline2 said - I‘m curious about that one too 😊 2y
squirrelbrain @Caroline2 @rockpools - I‘m taking my Kindle too, just in case! Well, what if I don‘t like *any* of my books?! I‘ll let you know about Kate‘s book - I‘m really looking forward to it. 2y

Finished nearly all ongoing books yesterday, except for Klara and the Sun on audio.

These are the two I picked off my library pile this morning, so we‘ll see if I start them later or get distracted by something else shiny!

They‘re both for #readingasia2021, one fiction, one NF.

Cinfhen Interested in hearing your thoughts on both of these 😊 2y

I was waiting for @TheAromaofBooks to draw the bingo numbers before posting my #weeklyforecast! 😘 Very excited to start on my Poirot re-read. Not sure how many I‘ll get through but I got 3 out of the library for starters....

The other 3 books are already ongoing and I‘m enjoying them all. River Town is unexpected - I didn‘t expect to like it this much. Unsettled Ground is intriguing so far and I‘m learning a lot from Black, Listed.

TheAromaofBooks Yay!!!! 2y
Cinfhen Woohoo 🎉 which country is 2y

Needless Street came through on Libby yesterday, having indicated a 6 week wait just last week. I started it last night - weird and wonderful so far.

I‘m *loving* The One Armed Sister on audio - this one should definitely be on the #womensprize shortlist when it comes out on Tuesday.

I then need a new physical book to read - not sure I have enough from Friday‘s library haul.... 🤷‍♀️

TrishB 😂😂 just about enough! 2y
Cathythoughts I‘d say you‘ll be ok 😂 2y

I wasn‘t sure about Death in the Air at first but it improved on further reading yesterday. I‘m still not loving the #qatar book though.

Nearly finished Small Pleasures on audio so will start my next #womensprize choice this week. River Town was on my forecast last week but I didn‘t get to it - hopefully I will this week. I also need some more fiction in my physical books so I‘m going with this for #srilanka.

Cinfhen Yay!! Lots of interesting books / I‘ve been eyeing this one for the title alone 2y

I have two physical books and one audio (Small Pleasures) on the go at the mo. I have a plan to get some more walking in this week so I‘ll hopefully move onto one of my other audiobooks (bottom right).

I‘ve ticked off quite a few books on my #bookspinbingo card but not a bingo yet, and one of the other 3 books will help. Although I‘ve just realised they‘re all NF so I might need some fiction too... 🤷‍♀️Decisions, decisions!

TrishB Lots of choices 👍🏻 2y

Cinfhen I think we discussed that before @KarenUK so crazy. I love that you have a first person account. 2y
Megabooks River Town is fantastic! 2y
squirrelbrain I‘ve borrowed that from my Mum @Megabooks - she has book 2 in the series too. I only realised today that it is a trilogy so I was going to try to find her book 3 as she loves both of the ones she has read. None of the books seem to be easily available in the UK. 2y
Megabooks @squirrelbrain I only have ebooks of them or else I‘d send them along. The first and second books are great! The third book is not nearly as good as River Town and (edited) 2y
Megabooks This is the third one. I didn‘t care for it. 2y
squirrelbrain Thanks for that @Megabooks - maybe I won‘t continue the search for book 3 then! 2y
Megabooks I‘d definitely get a feel for the first two before looking for the third. I also really loved this about moving to Egypt during the Arab Spring with his wife and young twins. But see if you like him first 😉 2y
