Does anyone have a good recommendation for a Kindle Paperwhite (10th generation) cover?

My current cover has not been allowing “sleeping” and is running my battery down constantly. 🙄

I‘ve heard it‘s best to buy an Amazon Kindle cover (my current one is not made by Amazon), but I‘ve noticed even those have some mixed reviews.

Any advice? TIA!

MaureenMc I decided to go with a sleeve instead of a cover for my new Paperwhite. May be an option for you? 3y
robinb @MaureenMc thanks, Maureen. Unfortunately I‘m so spoiled to the look and feel of covers that I‘m not sure I would be happy with a sleeve. 🙄😆🤷🏻‍♀️ 3y
eanderson Depending on what you like and the generation of paperwhite, I have a Cobak one that I love! It‘s pretty durable! 3y
robinb @eanderson I have the 10th generation (the latest) model. I saw the Cobak, and it was on my list of possibilities, but I've decided to go with BOZHUORUI (on Amazon). I think they would probably both be good choices. Thanks for the suggestion, Elisabeth! (edited) 3y

Leaving 21-25 as free spaces. Needless to say I think this will be my best chance at actually getting a bingo! @TheAromaofBooks

slategreyskies I like the idea of breaking a bigger book into smaller chunks! I may have to do that too. :) 3y
TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! I'm trying to decide if I want to tackle one of my chunky books this month, too haha 3y
Sargar114 @slategreyskies I think that‘s the only way I will actually get a bingo haha. Also… I stole the idea from @TheAromaofBooks so it‘s allowed lol (edited) 3y
TheAromaofBooks Oh totally allowed!! And sometimes I do it more based on a book that “feels“ like a chunkster because of the topic or how it's written. It genuinely helps me tackle books I otherwise put off because it feels like it's “worth“ as much as the other books on the list haha 3y

Hello Littens, especially you Kindle-Paperwhite users:

I keep doing “something” (assuming it is me?!) that resets the font to the tiniest smallest number. What am I doing? It seems like I do complicated steps to get it back to a readable font so ... I am stumped.

Any helpful guidance would be appreciated. And sympathy too. 😂👓🔎

Photo crossing Mississippi River

rockpools I‘m having a horrible time with all of the print everywhere being Much Too Small, so you have my sympathy! If I pinch my fingers together on the screen, the font size shrinks. If I flick them apart, it grows. That might be easier than fiddling about with umpteen steps to get the size back? (I‘ve just discovered this, so not too sure how to describe it!) 4y
BkClubCare @rockpools - THANK YOU! I might be doing this somehow when I turn pages or access the menu #shrug 🤷‍♀️ I am not having a good experience, gaws I feel old. I want to flip to precious pages but it goes in the wrong direction and ... I‘m hopeless. 🤣. Update: yes, it worked. Thank you! (edited) 4y

Which one do you like better? After the pain of moving way too many boxes of books I‘m seriously considering getting an e-reader. I like the idea of a non-Amazon option but it seems like Amazon has better options and e-book sales??

TrishB I have a paperwhite and really like it. 4y
candority I have a Kobo (Aura Edition 2) and it‘s been great. There are less eBook sales with Kobo vs Kindle and they don‘t always line up, which can be frustrating when you know a great book is on sale for Kindle, but Kobo still has a lot of great sales in my opinion. I‘m not sure if it‘s still an issue, but Kindle never used to work with the eBook formats from Canadian libraries, but Kobo does. So if you‘re a library user, definitely consider that! 4y
Ast_Arslan I had Kobo long time ago but it was a bad experience, now I have Kindle and I just love it. It's easy and plus amazon has a lot of daily and monthly offers for ebook 🤩 4y

CBee Never had a Kobo but I adore my Kindle! I have a Paperwhite. 4y
teebe @candority thanks, this helps! I found out from a review that Kobo does price matching for ebooks so it is possible to get Kindle prices with some extra steps. (edited) 4y
candority @teebe You‘re welcome! That‘s good to know. I may need to look into that! 4y
teebe @Ast_Arslan yeah I‘ve seen a lot of reviews that say kobo is awful and a lot that say it‘s the best. I‘m trying to figure out why there‘s such a divide there lol 4y
teebe @CBee @TrishB thanks for your input! Paperwhite is definitely the recommendation I get most often and I‘m considering it 4y
Ast_Arslan @teebe I also have friends that love kobo but one day my device decided to cancel all my books. I switched it off and on again, but nothing worked. 4y

I have a few questions for those of you Kindle owners who subscribe to Kindle Unlimited.

Do you feel that it‘s worth the price? Are you pleased with the amount/variety of ebooks offered? Do they offer more recent books, or are they mostly older ones?

I subscribed YEARS ago when the service was fairly new and wasn‘t impressed with the offerings. Thinking I might give it another try.

TIA...💕

SassyBookworm I wasn‘t impressed when I had a subscription. Plus I‘m at times a slower reader so it wasn‘t worth my money. I now use Libby through my library for ebooks and found the selection so much better! Plus I can suggest new ebooks and so far they have added all the ones I‘ve asked for. I also use the audiobooks on Libby too. It‘s so much better in my opinion plus it‘s FREE! ☺️ 4y
Schnoebs It really depends heavily on what you read. I personally love it even if I don‘t read enough each month for it at times. It‘s my go to for fantasy romance and being able to try out authors before buying the physical copies. I also like that I can keep 10 things saved on my ereader so that I already have options to sort through when I‘m in the mood for that type of read. 4y
Amie I did a free trial for a few months and did not use it at all. There are books in it that I want to read, but I get so many ebooks from my library that it just isn't worth it for me. If I didn't have access to two robust public library ebook collections, then it's something I would consider. 4y
See All 6 Comments
robinb @SassyBookworm @Schnoebs @Amie thanks so much for responding! One of the reasons I was considering it is I get so tempted by those special prices that pop up...$.99, 1.99, etc. and those start to add up. It‘s not like my TBR list is not already overflowing either. 🙄 I think I‘ll wait for now, practice self control and use Libby more often. I sometimes get frustrated with Libby because my local library is not overly large. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks again! 💕 4y
Chelsea.Poole If you have accounts at other libraries you can add libraries to your Libby app and search their collections as well. I use several different libraries on my app. Usually at least one has a less popular book I‘m looking for. 4y

Wow. I wonder if this could mean cheaper ebooks in the future. I guess there was already a lawsuit against Apple that lead to cheaper ebooks until Amazon cut in.
https://www.seattletimes.com/business/amazon/amazon-and-major-publishers-collude...

Clare-Dragonfly Interesting. This is sort of the opposite of what happened when ebooks were first becoming popular, with Apple and the publishers colluding against Amazon. 4y
Patchshank @Clare-Dragonfly Yeah. You would think some laws would have been passed to prevent it from happening again. Or maybe there were and Amazon found loopholes? Who knows. Damn greedy companies. 4y

1. Somewhat... I read most books as ebooks from the library because it‘s convenient and free, but when it comes to actually buying books I usually only buy ebooks if it‘s a Kindle deal so the price is significantly marked down, otherwise I‘d rather buy the physical book and just get it used if I‘m on a budget.
2. Kindle app, Libby, Axis360, Hoopla

#Two4Tuesday

SleepyDragon I read mostly ebooks from the library as well, but have noticed lately that less are available than a year ago. Licenses on a few books I have on my wishlist have not been renewed. I think the costs are affecting my reading via my library district's budget constraints. Have you noticed a difference with your library? 5y
shadowspeak17 @SleepyDragon Now that you mention it, I have noticed that there seem to be fewer books that I‘m interested in on the various platforms I use to checkout ebooks from the library. Before I just kind of assumed it was because I like reading some not so popular books, but I think what you‘re saying makes more sense. 🤔 5y

I‘m a bit of a gadget freak and have had a variety of e-readers including Nook, Nook Glowlight, Kindle, Kindle Fire, and Kindle Paperwhite (which was my favorite). Meet my latest acquisition. It‘s not the newest Oasis ; it‘s the previous generation, but it‘s new to me. I‘m excited to see if I like it as much as the Paperwhite. Also, I think the case I got for it is so pretty. 😊

ljuliel Very nice ! Enjoy. 5y
TheAromaofBooks Oh I love the case!! Just curious, what made you switch to the Oasis? I have a lot of love for my Paperwhite. 5y
KathyWheeler @TheAromaofBooks It truly was simply my love of gadgets. I love my Paperwhite too; I just wanted a new toy. The Oasis does have physical buttons for page turning and it‘s lighter than even my Paperwhite. When I got to work today, I found out I‘d won an Apple Watch from our rec center. If I‘d known that earlier, I probably wouldn‘t have the Oasis. The watch would have satisfied my tech lust.😄 5y
TheAromaofBooks haha that is so funny, but I know the feeling. And now you have TWO new toys! Physical buttons for page turning would actually be great. I don't read on my phone as much as I used to, but I always used my phone buttons for page turning when I did. 5y
KathyWheeler @TheAromaofBooks I do like having the physical buttons. When I went from the Kindle to the Paperwhite, that was the one thing I missed. 5y

Littens could I get your opinions please?

Those who buy and read ebooks a lot which company do you buy from and why? (Amazon, B&N, Kobo, etc.)

I‘ve used Amazon Kindle for years and have quite an extensive library but am considering if I should make the switch to another provider. Thoughts?

Thanks! ☺️

AkashaVampie I do Amazon. I have always done Amazon. 5y
Amiable I have purchased e-books from Barnes & Noble for years. I started with that because I had a Nook and the Kindle then didn‘t allow for the e-pub format, which was the format that the library had available for e-books. Plus, I was never happy with Amazon‘s business model in dealing with authors and publishers. And the way they treat their employees. (edited) 5y
Reagan I love my kobo. 5y
See All 11 Comments
Lcsmcat I use all three. I have a larger library on Kindle because I started with them, but I mostly use it for public domain books now. I prefer Kobo for books that I can get that way because I can support my local independent book store, and often use it for books by living authors. I have the nook app because I inherited my mother-in-law‘s Nook, which I have since passed on to my daughter, but have fewer books on it. 5y
amywithbooks I have exclusively used kindle for ebooks, I've never had any complaints! 5y
Hazel2019 I really like shopping at B&N. You go in, are surrounded by books. Just a great place to be. It is more expensive though - especially when purchasing at the physical locations. Amazon would be my second choice. 5y
AmyG I have an ipad where I do everything. I mostly read ebooks from apple and amazon (I have a kindle app on my ipad). 5y
Texreader Amazon Kindle because I like all the freebies 5y
tournevis If you are in the US, Kobo is less interesting because the catalogue is smaller than Amazon. B&N works on Kobo if you sideload, though. In fact, the ability to sideload is Kobo's best, greatest feature. The difference used to be enormous, but now, if you're in the US, it's more about which language you read in. If it's English, Kobo has fewer books in the Kobo store than Amazon. If it's any other language, Kobo it is. 5y
Redwritinghood I buy on Kindle and have no problems with it. I haven‘t used the others, though, so I can‘t compare. 5y
TheLibrarian I‘ve only used Amazon for my Kindle but I love it. With the decline in B&N, I was worried what would happen to my ebooks if I had their ereader. 5y

cathipink Whoa. I don't read ebooks at all - this would be challenging for me as a student. I wonder of pricing will change. 5y
Leftcoastzen @cathipink I have heard that from many students. Some really prefer real books , some say they find a difference in retention of the materials. 5y
See All 7 Comments
Patchshank If they drop the prices of textbooks it might be worth it. But I see them jacking the prices up because college students will no longer be able to buy used books. 5y
NeonKnight Agree about the issue of pricing. Always preferred physical copies as well. I can‘t explain why, but the material always felt more accessible that way. 5y
daniwithtea I‘d prefer real textbooks for sure, but I always go with the e-text when available because the cost differs by orders of magnitude. What drives me nuts about the e-texts though is that they‘re not normal ebooks - they‘re only accessible through the publishers web apps, which forces me to read on my computer at my desk rather than my kindle. :/ 5y
