A long marriage is still a desire of my heart. It‘s not a life sentence unless you are Sophie and Dan! Healthy middle class couple with a possible 68 years of marital what!!?? The idea makes them panic. The audio is enjoyable. #2021readingchallenge
Day 12 - #Surprise #MagicalMay
#SurpriseMe #SophieKinsella
I think I would like to read this book! It looks interesting to me!
Book 48 I listened to the majority of this book in one go as I was cleaning out my classroom for the year. The story vacillates between almost-romantic comedy and almost-thriller; not doing either well. It was okay for a listen, but not well-written.
This was not my favorite Kinsella, but I did enjoy it. There were several parts where I laughed out loud, and thanks to #bookspin, I finally got it read and off my #TBR!
Surprise me!

Another fun, witty read from Sophie Kinsella. I liked the characters in this one, found the twins quite amusing. Story was abit of a cliche but I sort of expect that with chit lit. I am enjoying reading her books inbetween my usual genre 😊
Book 1 of 20 for #bfcr4
Another pleasure read by Sophie Kinsella. She took a normal marriage and made it an intriguing love story with plenty of twists and turns.
Both boxes have arrived! 🤗🥳👻🎃🧥🧣🧤🍁🍂❄

Princess Sylvie emerges from her childlike self to a strong feminist woman in this laugh-out-loud book. What is shown as a perfect marriage quickly unravels in the midst of too many secrets and not enough communication. Some dark family secrets emerge which paints things in an entirely different light but allow for healing and a rebonding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #mbcreadathon #mbcfrogsread11
I had one of those nights when I couldn‘t sleep, so I finished off this audiobook while tossing and turning. I really enjoyed it, but that didn‘t #SurpriseMe since I love the majority of this authors novels. 😆♥️
With life expectancy increasing, the idea of being married to someone FOREVER can seem.... Daunting.... So Sylvie and Dan start coming up with surprises for each other to keep things interesting. The biggest surprise though, is something that has been affecting their marriage from almost the very beginning.... Not what I was expecting, but a very pleasing, light read. But once you know the twist, I don't think you could enjoy a re-read as much...
I feel like all of Sophie Kinsella's female characters are the same, and each book is just a different point in their life or like an alternate reality. In to it though.
Just got an email notice that this one is due back on Tuesday, so I'm slipping it in before the next book I had planned to read.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. At first I thought it would be a typical Sophie Kinsella book, but ended up being quite a good book. 4⭐️
No 4 and final book for #deweysreadathon #24readathon Going to read until I get tired. May sleep on the couch (I have a sheet and a blanket on the couch).
Though I usually have a lot of fun with Kinsella‘s books, this one just wasn‘t one of my favorites of hers... the premise just kind of kicked off strangely to me with a husband & wife being horrified to learn they have 68 more years of married life ahead of them... so they start surprising each other to spice up their marriage with some predictably disastrous results. There are a few funny moments but it just wasn‘t my favorite for #AudioColoring
Just finished reading #ioweyouone haven't read this one yet but always read Sophie kinsella books and I hadn't realised how much I had missed her east flow of writing!!
A few #PrettyinPink covers (though pink covers are rare in my shelves, and don't always indicate happy books). And for balance, a super cute picture of Blue Ivy at the Grammys a few years ago. I love her suit! #literarylove
I thought “Surprise Me” was going to be the fun popcorn read I was craving. I thought it was going to be about a husband and wife trying to put some spark in their marriage and hijinks ensuing. Although the book started that way, it morphed into a boring melodrama (is her husband cheating??? What‘s his secret????) that was infuriatingly predictable.
I may have gone overboard with my #CupidGoesPostal . 🤷🏻♀️ #ValentinesBookExchange
Image has been blurred for the books‘ protection.
With 45 minutes to spare... success! 4 books in 5 days. Whew! Those who accomplish 24 in 48 are my heroes!
Thank you @Andrew65 and @TheReadingMermaid for your organization and encouraging words!
#24b42019 is in the books!
So distracted from reading... Kir Royal to drink and CNN hosts to laugh at...A Cooper is a hoot! Happy New Year all!
Oh, there are gonna be spoilers.
First, it starts off as one book and ends up as another. Very annoying. You think it‘s going to be a light-hearted romp with a husband and wife trying to put a spark in their marriage.
Hijinks half heartedly ensue. Our plucky heroine is thrown into many embarrassing situations, very few of which are funny. Of course things get out of hand what follows are several chapters where wife thinks husband is cheating.
Ok, I made a list of books I own that I am going to read THIS YEAR! So no more buying books except My Sister the Serial Killer ( which I pre-ordered). My GR reading goal is set at 60. These will get me there.
This is my Saturday. I already got my word count in for #nanowrimo and now I‘m settling in to read and fight the last bit of my cold 🤧Are any other Littens doing NaNoWriMo? How is it going?
"If love is easy, you're not doing it right."
"Love is finding one person infinitely fascinating."
"I am a person, and I want to commit to another person."
"Nothing changes if nothing changes."
Sylvie and Dan have a happy marriage and believe they know everything there is to know about each other. Until it's mentioned to them that they could be together another sixty-eight years... and panic sets in.
And now for something light on this gloomy day! #24B4Monday
Which I know is irrational. But what‘s so great about being rational.
I fully admit to loving me some Sophie Kinsella! I always know I‘m going to laugh a lot and end up loving her characters. What I didn‘t think of before this novel was how much more I could appreciate her stories with an excellent audiobook narrator. Surprise Me ended up....well surprising me! This one had everything I typically love while also being touching and multi-layered. Now I want to go back and listen to her other novels! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 1/2
I have read every one of her books and I‘m never disappointed. This one is another great read. Sophie captures real life so well and makes us relate so closely with her characters. I‘ll be pre ordering her next book.
I still think we need something between "Pick" and "So-So" but I'll be generous with "Pick". It's wasn't great but it was interesting and entertaining. It definitely picked up the last half. I saw a few reviews around where readers gave up on it. So, my advice is stick it out if we might give up, it does get better.
#currentlyreading Most of the reviews of this book seem rather "Eh" but I'm giving it a shot. I picked it up for literally a quarter at a thift store. I have other books on the shelf I'm more excited to read but if I put this one off any longer I'll probably never read it. So, giving it a shot.
The novelty of a happily married heroine was nice. But it took that heroine waaaaay too many pages to realize she had daddy issues. #jesshowreads2018
