This is an amazing book narrated by a horse named Joey during WWI. Joey does different jobs and ends up traveling a lot during the course of the war. It touches on some hard topics and has some truly sad scenes, but it also has a happy ending.

Great story even if you are not a horse lover as myself. In WWI it is estimated that 8 million horses died and in WWII, despite armies being mechanized, another 2 - 5 million gave their lives.
Morpurgo is becoming my fav modern children‘s author. ðŸ´ðŸ´ðŸ´ðŸ´
November was another good reading month with lots of middle grade and YA along with a few other books. I think my favorites were the tagged War Horse and Black Brother, Black Brother. I only fit in 2 from the 1001books list, but I‘m hoping for a few more before the end of the year. I also managed to get a bingo this month!

I read this book for the first time several years ago and just finished a reread today in order to discuss it with a student. It‘s such a wonderful story!

Prompt: Stage Play
This book was a stage play and a movie. I read the book but never say the movie or play.
A simple book about World War 1 from the point of view of a horse, Joey.
The needless expense of human and animal life was heart breaking.
My #doublespin read for July. @TheAromaofBooks
A story from the eyes of Joey, a horse, dealing with the First World War.
“I use my own life, I use history and I try to write another truth.†Listening to the #bigbookweekend authors from yesterday. Loved listening to Michael Morpurgo talk about how he wrote War Horse and Private Peaceful. I loved reading his books as a child and I love tutoring with them now. https://myvlf.com/
A little bit of hope and encouragement today from Michael Morpurgo, the author of War Horse and many other lovely books.
I hope you‘re all keeping well physically , emotionally, and spiritually. I‘m so fond of you all and wish you well!

Got the paper back in this and the ebook was that good film amazing but sad.
I‘m always having problems when seasons change. A sinus infection sounds like nothing but my chest, throat and ear burns. My tongue is swollen, my joints hurt. And I can‘t speak. So here I am, stuck in bed, listening to audiobooks. 😅 #livinginthedesert
War has never been close to home for me, I don't have any family that has served and it's always been a distant topic in my house. Reading this book is the first time I've ever truly considered war as anything different from just existing, and I'm so conflicted.
War horse has a piece of my heart as well as my innocence, and not to be dramatic, but my world will forever be tinged with the ugliness Joey faced in this book.
I didn't expect to get so emotional at this book! Written from the horse's perspective, it gives a whole new view on WWII.
Book 4 done.

Changed my mind for book 4 of the #24in48 readathon. I started Cabal by Clive Barker and couldn't focus on it, so tried this and sank right in. Loving it so far, but I need to turn in for the night, two hours behind schedule though...

Maybe it's because it's been such a long time since last l read children literature, but l expected a bit more from this book.
It felt very distant. I was never completely evolved, maybe because l found some of the events unlikely.
I'm happy l read it, but l did expect more.
Pumpkin and chocolate chips muffins and current reads.
Looks like a good Sunday.
I was trying to finish Northanger Abbey for the #NorthangerAbbeyReadalong #JaneAustenReadalong (for which l'm hopelessly behind) when l suddenly realised that l should really start the second book for the #BookAWeek challenge.
Let's see whether l can read a bit of both today
Today I looked the film adaptation. I love this movie. #horse #worldwar #friendship #warhorse

A brilliant book that was made into a stunning piece of theatre which i was lucky to see a few years ago. The creation of mechanical horses was amazing - if you haven't seen it I'd recommend and there wasn't a dry eye in our family outing.
I loved War Horse in London's West End. I'd never read it so decided to use to fulfill several challenge tasks -- book w. animal in the title/also a play/a movie you've already seen/you can read in a day. I'm glad I listened because it's different from the play/movie in several ways, including that the book is narrated by the horse and it has a less intense ending. It made me sad to imagine horses at war, but it was a great listen!
5* - A brilliantly written and emotional story! If you had told me that a book written from the POV of a horse would grip me and I'd finish it in 1 day, I'd have laughed at you!
I fell in love with Joey, felt his fear, pain and joy. I wish there had been more, but at the same time, the book was perfect â¤ï¸
There was only one obvious choice for me for todays #novemberbynumbers. A beautiful story of Albert and his horse Joey. Joey narrates this tale of their journey during WW1 and how their friendship survives through several harrowing ordeals. #11 #eleven #weshallrememberthem
Today I graduated from Newcastle Uni with a 2:1 in my English degree - an already overwhelming and exciting ceremony was made even better by an appearance from Michael Morpurgo who received an honorary degree from the uni, an absolute favourite author of mine from childhood with classics such as Kensuke's Kingdom, Private Peaceful and War Horse 🎓📚â¤ï¸
A few of my books that relate to the Great War in a way or another.
I don't know why, l've become fascinared with #WWI lately (in addition to the 1920s) and l wonder whether these times we are living are to be blamed for that

#day22 of the #Augustphotochallenge for @TheSpinecrackersBookClub definitely a challenge today #booksaboutinnocence I found this one hard to define but eventually settled on Morpurgo because his books write wonderfully about the innocence of children and animals but at the same time show a harder side of life.
