This was a cute and quick read. Though the romance was a tad rushed, I enjoyed the characters and the plot itself as well. Overall, a good read to get you out of a reading slump.

A fun YA regency-esque adventure romance with likable characters and twists and turns. First book of a trilogy. I‘m definitely reading the next two.

Juliana studies lady-beetles, but is sent to her Aunt‘s house in order to be trained for her Coming Out Season in London.

Spencer is hanging out with his friend while secretly working for the War Office. They meet, come up with a plan to get their friends together, and are pulled closer 🔽

Juliana found it remarkable that those esteemed as paragons of polite society were often the most discourteous dragons.

Delightful diversion for difficult times. In the flavor of Julia Quinn and Jane Austen, but easy to read and very innocent - perfectly acceptable for a younger but advanced reader.

Day 3 of #AdventRecommends - this book was on my TBR for about 3 years before I read this!

Juliana is interested in science and ladybugs. She gets sent to London and secretly works on her research. She meets Spencer who works as a spy in the war office. They work together and obviously fall in love. It‘s a YA Historical Romance, so you kind of have to know what you‘re in for.

I absolutely loved this book. It‘s been on my TBR for so long and it did not disappoint! Compared to Jane Austen, this book was fabulous. Juliana and Spencer are a great pair. Juliana‘s cousin Carrie is just as great. Juliana is such a strong, smart woman and she doesn‘t change her ways, even if society doesn‘t like it.

Bought this book for the cover, was hooked by the first paragraph:

Reminiscent of The Pink Carnation series but without the duel timelines, Love, Lies as Spies is a smart and light Regency era read.

This was the perfect palette cleanser after the darker book I just read. A delightful comedy of manners to clear away the brain from stark noir.

Sweet and fun. Meandering at times, jumpy (lacking smooth transitions) at others. Many characters also could have been developed more. If you like light YA, you'll probably enjoy it. P.S. Keys have nothing to do with the story, other than the general association with spying. But it's a pretty cover!

Banter and adventure. Solid Regency romance

This was so much fun! Regency romance with espionage intrigue and a bluestocking heroine who studies ladybugs. It is silly and irrevernt and I loved every minute. So good!

Though I'm confused by all the keys on the cover. No keys were involved in this book at all.

If you love the Pink Carnation series, you'll love this one.

Ready for something a bit light-hearted after Purple Hibiscus. This looks fun.

I'm not usually a fan of this time period but I really enjoyed this book. It was funny, surprisingly action packed and such an enjoyable read.

Starting this book today!

A solid debut. After a lighthearted but memorable beginning, I thought it lost some steam in the middle and got unnecessarily convoluted but overall it was a fun read. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the author's future works. 3 stars.
