Here's to Us | Elin Hilderbrand
An emotional, heartwarming story from New York Times bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand about a grieving family that finds solace where they least expect it. Celebrity chef Deacon Thorpe has always been a force of nature with an insatiable appetite for life. But after that appetite contributes to Deacon's shocking death in his favorite place on earth, a ramshackle Nantucket summer cottage, his (messy, complicated) family is reeling. Now Deacon's three wives, his children, and his best friend gather on the island he loved to say farewell. The three very different women have long been bitter rivals, each wanting to claim the primary place in Deacon's life and his heart. But as they slowly let go of the resentments they've held onto for years and remember the good times, secrets are revealed, confidences are shared, and improbable bonds are formed as this unlikely family says goodbye to the man who brought them all together, for better or worse--and the women he loved find new ways to love again.

I needed another easy listen after the hurricane build up and let down( to which I‘m not complaining). Tomorrow I think I can do a little more serious reading. This book was a 3.5 stars.

This was as expected. Lots of Nantucket scenery and rich white people problems. A basic beach read.

MicrobeMom Funny I never love Elin Hilderbrand‘s book, but yet I have read almost all of them. I think they are an escape for me. 5mo
GypsyKat @MicrobeMom Oh they‘re definitely a form of escapism! The main reason I read them is for that beach feeling. 5mo

1st book finished in #24B4Monday.My goal is to complete books that I already started to read.I read 103 pages to finish the book.As it is common in this author, this is another family drama developed in Nantucket with funny scenes. The Nantucket house must be divided between 2 ex-wives and the widow. All of them will share a weekend at the beach house with their children😱3.4⭐️ from ok-to-soso @TheReadingMermaid @Andrew65 @jb72 🤗mug by @hermyknee

This was a good book to read at the start of the summer season. I always end up wanting to visit Nantucket when I finish one of her books. This one was a little predictable, but still enjoyable. I seem to be on a food book kick, so I was happy to see that recipes were included with it 😊

Definitely only a so-so read for me but I felt like that might be a possibility going into it. The plot/storyline wasn‘t terrible but the characters did absolutely nothing for me, at all. Famous chef Deacon Thorpe dies and his 3 wives/children gather at his beloved Nantucket home to say goodbye. You can imagine the drama that ensues but unfortunately none of the characters were enjoyable much less love able. An ok read.

Good little book. Chef Deacon Thorpe dies. His three ex wives & kids gather at family beach house in Nantucket. Lies, tears and drama. Easy to sink into this one. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Getting another big snow storm here, so reading about beaches and sunshine was a good escape!

I always enjoy Elin hilderbrand, I consider her one of my favorite authors although that list is admittedly long! For some reason, I found this book a little bit more difficult to get into. It just didn't Captivate me like her others. Having said that, the story came together in the last third of the book for me and it did include recipes which is always a bonus (I'll be making at least 1 of them). Still, a decent read and I would recommend it.

Chasing_Pages I plan on reading this next month at the beach. 3y

I always look forward to reading Elin Hilderbrand's books. While I enjoyed Here's to Us, it just lacked a little something that her other books have. It didn't draw me in and leave me as emotionally vested as usual.

Entertaining. Three wives/ex-wives and their children spend the weekend at their recently deceased husband/ex-husband's vacation home and all sorts of drama ensues. I listened to the audiobook while doing stuff around the house. I wouldn't listen to it around kids, though. I'll chalk this one up to a guilty pleasure read

Cute. There were some eye rolling incidents: Belinda who is described as having milky white skin and strawberry blond hair was nominated for an Oscar for playing Cleopatra. Somewhere the book mentioned she played someone from Vietnam. But I liked it.

Elin Hilderbrand will never disappoint me with her writing. I've never been to Nantucket. I doubt I'll ever get there. But her ability to make me feel like I've just vacationed there for the last 400 pages is amazing. Add to that her ability to make me feel "all the feels" through each of her characters, and I'm a goner. I will always read her books. I will always do so as soon as they are released. And you should too. Highly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mimm Love it this book 😍 3y

Hilderbrand is synonymous with summer and once again, she has crafted a sinfully delicious novel that her fans will devour. Her descriptions of the island of Nantucket are beautiful and after reading each of her novels I always find myself longing to visit there so I can visit the markets, eat some fresh seafood and relax on the beach. www.novelgossip.com

Ok, so normally I love Hilderbrand's novels, but this one didn't work for me. I found the first 50 pages utterly depressing and the characters to be insufferable. They were always bickering and complaining.

Love, love, love- as always. Hilderbrand has a way of making you love and hate every character simply because she writes "human" so well. And I remain in love with Nantucket because of her despite having never set foot there. No better author to read in the summer, I sing her praises to everyone.
