Kinda slow but overall good. I‘m interested enough to keep going in the series thanks to everyone saying the next books are better.

Can‘t believe I waited so long to read this!!! I haven‘t read a book this fast in a looonnngggg time and now I must have the second one!! If you love fantasy, this is a must read. It‘s been around for a long time but if you have been putting it off, don‘t wait! As I wait for book two to arrive I‘m trying to choose one of the books in the background. My reading bug is back! 📚

I started this on my Kindle awhile ago, and for some reason, it just didn‘t grab me right away - I must not have been in the mood for it. I know it‘s such a beloved series, so I thought I would give it another try with the dramatized adaptation audiobooks. I can understand the appeal and the potential - I imagine the rest of the books in the series will only get better now that the story is set up. 🎧

I finally jumped on the bandwagon and started this series. Full of tropes - unreasonably feisty heroine, good at hunting with a bow, pretty enough but fairly ordinary except for her feistiness, is sentenced to fairyland a la Beauty and the Beast. Incredibly hot male fairies find her irresistibly attractive. She has to save the fairy realm against impossible odds using cunning and bravery. The fresh writing made it all enjoyable. On to book 2!

Returned the #audiobooks via #hoopla

This was an enjoyable book! Totally loved the “Beauty and the Beast” vibes.

The romance was heartwarming 💘
Believable characters, liked their flaws, and how they still had hope
A lot of tragedy is experienced by the characters, yet they still live with the pain and seek justice

I‘ll continue the series. I hear book two is the best of them.

Started this #audiobook and got through three hours in my first sitting. Seems very Beauty and the Beast so far. I like it, waiting for some action to start soon.

willaful I remember finding the audiobook rather repetitive in style -- a dramatized adaption sounds like a good idea. 2mo
peaKnit I enjoy the cast audio, so immersive! I‘m mid book 3 of series. 2mo
CrowCAH @willaful I like the extra sounds, helps the story a bit. 2mo
CrowCAH @peaKnit yeah, not too many do the immersive audio, so when I saw Hoopla had it, I wanted to do that version and not the regular audio. 2mo

I have this book on kindle, IRL and audio- and with my brain fog lifting (thanks to HRT) I decided to reread and see if i still enjoyed it - and I did. I love a Beauty and The Beast type story and really enjoyed the Fae and storyline. It made a huge difference having all three formats available.

Gissy I need to re-read those first 2 books and finish the series.. 2mo

I went in with low expectations because it is so popular. I was delightfully surprised by this book and I enjoyed the story and love interest. My only complaint would be the slower pacing in the beginning.

I finally got around to reading this. While the book was really fun and I still am curious as to what happens next, I just felt like some things were ridiculous. The twist/big reveal was pretty obvious and a little bit too manipulated for the sake of making it make sense with everything that‘s happened. I did enjoy the second half a lot though, and I love how dark and gory it is. It‘s not a cute story, it‘s ugly in a good way. Also Nesta>>>>>>>

Margot Robbie has hinted that there might be a screen adaption of 'A Court of Thorns and Roses' coming our way.

Last year, she was spotted with the author of the series Sarah J. Maas after news of a previous TV series with Hulu fell through.

When asked if her production company is creating a series on the hugely popular books, Margot replied: "We all need that - the world needs that. I'll see what I can do."

While I loved the character building during this book, and how the actual story went, I liked the rest of the books in this series more. The first book felt, to me, more like a setup for the real story, than the actual story. On that note, I couldn't put this (or any other of this series) book down!

vivastory @GingerAntics There was a recent post on IG from Book Riot saying that one of many goals of Project 2025 is to prosecute (hefty fines for big publishers/authors & potential jailtime for indie publishers/authors) if the far right take the majority next year. 4mo
GingerAntics @vivastory I‘ve heard that from other places. Talk about total loss of literature freedom in this country. We might as well be North Korea or China or Cuba. 4mo
Mimi28 It‘s a shame, so sad 😞 4mo
Bookwomble @GingerAntics From my reading of the report, it seems that public schools and libraries are being forced to comply with the ban, but it doesn't seem to prohibit the books being sold and read privately. I could be wrong, but that's how I understood the Guardian article. Obviously, that's still fascist censorship. 4mo
The_Book_Ninja @GingerAntics 1) Isn‘t the far-right‘s mantra “freedom of speech”? 2) Who is reading these books to the illiterate morons in the 1st place? They would have never known if someone didn‘t snitch! 4mo
IndoorDame It only gets worse if we don‘t fight. Right now 3 states have versions of these laws around schools and public libraries, but that number can multiply fast, and the laws can expand in scope. 4mo

Haven't read a fantasy book in ages and this one was the perfect choice to bring me back to the genre. I really enjoyed the characters and plot and how the book takes inspiration from so many other quality fantasy tales from the canon and yet is wonderfully fresh and exciting. CatLass007 @Cupcake12 I‘ve been seeing articles about them recently and when I found out that one meets at a nearby coffeehouse, I thought I‘d check it out. The way it‘s described is that the first 30 minutes are spent chatting and getting settled in and ordering food and/or drinks. The next hour is spent silently reading whatever we choose to bring with us. The final 30 minutes are spent chatting about what was read and anything else that strikes our fa. 8mo
