Ghostly Echoes
Ghostly Echoes: A Jackaby Novel | William Ritter
Jenny Cavanaugh, the ghostly landlord of 826 Augur Lane, has enlisted the services of her detective-agency tenants to solve a decade-old murder--her own. Abigail Rook and her eccentric employer, R. F. Jackaby, dive into the cold case, starting with a search for Jennys fianc, who went missing the night she died. But when a new, gruesome murder closely mirrors the events of ten years prior, Abigail and Jackaby realize that Jennys case isnt so cold after all, and her killer may be far more dangerous than they suspected. Fantasy and folklore mix with mad science as Abigails race to unravel the mystery leads her across the cold cobblestones of nineteenth-century New England, down to the mythical underworld, and deep into her colleagues grim histories to battle the most deadly foe she has ever faced.

It been so long since I listened to the first 2 books in this series, but it was easy to pick back up on the adventures of Jackaby & Abigail Rook. This time, they are investigating some new deaths related to Jenny (the ghost that owns their house & whose murder hasn‘t been solved). There‘s interesting supernatural elements. Satisfying ending but with a lead-in to the last novel. I like the narration with this series. #frightclub #hauntedshelf

mcctrish This is such a good series 5d
Scochrane26 @mctrish I saw on GR that there‘s a story just about Abigail set after the 4th, so hopefully I can find that through my library. 4d

This is the 3rd in a series & it's a good one! We learn a lot more about Jackaby & his abilities & we finally learn what happened to Jenny Cavanaugh 10 years ago which turns out to be related to events in the first two books. I'm a little sad that there's only one more in this series.
Jackaby is a lovely character. ⬇️

bookandbedandtea I like how accepting he is of people (see Miss Lydia in this book) and beings in general and that he's motivated by a true desire to help those he can help. And his devotion to the ghostly Jenny is adorable! MOST of all I like that he and Abigail are not each others romantic interest. That's very refreshing. 4y
mcctrish I love this series 4y
TheAromaofBooks I LOVE the way Jackaby and Abigail aren't remotely romantic! Their friendship is so perfect to me. I'll be interested to see how you like the conclusion of the series. It wasn't exactly how I wanted it to end, but it was still solid. I kind of wish that Ritter had made each book its own small adventure instead of creating a giant over-arcing story. 4y
bookandbedandtea @mcctrish I'm really enjoying it! 😊 4y
bookandbedandtea @TheAromaofBooks 1st & 2nd books seem more like individual stories until you get to this one & realize they're all tied together. I too found myself wishing that wasn't the case. Still, I'll be glad to read the next one & see how it all comes together. Re J & A, I just LOVE that they are only friends. Most books throw a man & woman together then make them fall in love (which is often great!) but it's nice to read a book which leaves them friends. 4y

The third book in the Jackaby series is probably the best so far! Always a mix of fun, quirk, and supernatural danger, this book focused on the ghost, Jenny Cavanaugh and her search to find out who killed her. Lots of twists and turns, and there's a trip to the Underworld, which was super cool. I'm a little sad that book 4 is the end of this series.

Daisey I really enjoyed the first books in this series, but I‘ve never finished it. I should read the rest! (edited) 5y

Really liked this third instalment of this charming series. It definitely progressed along and answered quite a few questions. I wish these books were twice the length they are as I feel like these stories could be even grander.

I really enjoy the Jackaby series - nice middle grade/YA stories with a mix of horror, monsters, mystery, and folklore. This third book in the series is quite fun, with some extra character growth and just enough spooky action.

KathyWheeler I enjoyed these books too. This 3rd one sets up everything perfectly for The Dire King. 5y

Day 4 Post Challenge! Today's prompt is #CurrentlyReading and on Day 4 I was reading Ghostly Echoes by William Ritter! I was also listening to The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien!
I have since finished Ghostly Echoes and loved it! The whole Jackaby series is amazing! So mysterious & the World/Magic System is super interesting and you learn more and more each book!
As for The Silmarillion I still have NO IDEA what is going on!

I am still loving these books. they are detective novels, but with magic, set in the era of horse and carts, and they have a Sherlock/doctor who vibe I adore. I definitely liked this one better than book 2, and love finding out more about Jenny and also hints of Jackaby‘s past. I‘m hoping this series keeps going and going. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This series is so much fun, and while this book still has some of those funny, lighthearted moments, it had an overall darker, more serious tone. Also, the audiobook narrator is amazing!

I hardly read anything last month since I was focusing on writing and now I‘m in a bit of a funk 🙁. I have to read a book for book club, but after that I want to read some fun stuff to hopefully stop a slump before it gets too bad. I‘m thinking maybe the last two books in the Jackaby series? And I have plenty of graphic novels sitting on my shelves, so maybe I‘ll get through some of those, too. Gorgeous bookmark by Bibliophile Prints 😍

I think this may be my favorite of the series even though it is setting up for the final book. I love all of the characters, especially Jenny and Abigail. I was happy to see Jenny get some resolution about what happened to her. I think Abigail really shines in this one. I also love the addition of Lydia Lee.

Counting as part of the #screamathon due to supernatural characters. This is not a scary series.

4am and I‘ve just finished the third book in the Jackaby series by William Ritter. I really enjoyed this one, the new characters were brilliant(especially Charon, I hope the afterlife is exactly like that!)and the story was interesting. I really love that Jenny finally got her answers. It sets it up for the last book very neatly, The Dire King will be on the top of my next BookDepository.com order for sure! Highly recommended. 5⭐️

2. I picked up a Little Golden Book(I believe it was The Pokey Little Puppy)when I was 4yrs old & started reading. I credit my Auntie Lilla for feeding my addiction with old books.
3. I‘m an insomniac so most of my reading is done between 11pm & 5am. House is quiet, no traffic noise. Bliss.
