Can you believe it's my first time reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe? The audiobook was simply delightful. With my background knowledge, the allegory was unmistakable. But, I truly think this story would capture the heart of every child and adult alike.

Ruthiella Read The Magician‘s Nephew too. It‘s delightful tells us how Narnia came to be. 1mo

The religious allegories were a little bit more toned down in this one, but it still suffers from antagonists lacking any real motivation.

what kills me is sentences like “Battles are ugly when women fight“ as if women haven't been serving in the military alongside men. Men feeling like women beat them at anything (including war) is a whole different can of worms and has been around for longer than this book.

Doppoetry I also find it ironic that Lewis is so anti-school when he's gone to one of the most prestigious colleges, is a scholar, and is well respected at that. I don't doubt teachers can be terrible to students, especially back in the day, but come on. 1mo

The narrative focuses on themes of bravery, atonement, and sacrifice. The moral of the story is that compassion, self-belief, and sticking up for what is right may bring about positive change. I would have the student have fun and act out this book to understand the characters more.

Here‘s her stack of books for that. She‘s really excited to continue the exploration in September.

What a beautiful story, I had seen the movie when it came out (I was 9) but I don‘t think I fully understood the significance ❤️ I can‘t wait to watch it again as an adult after reading the book 🥹❤️

First time rereading since childhood — maybe at age 8 or so — and Edmund is even more of a shit than I remembered (like, way earlier than the bewitched Turkish Delights). Plus, the Biblical allegory is much more obvious. Still, it IS wonderfully atmospheric and charming. Full of enchanting visuals that I was pleased to find have lingered much more accurately in my memory.

“Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia.” After reading this classic and magical adventure you‘ll feel like a king or queen of Narnia forever. This world in the wardrobe will become like a second home and every friendly creature will be your dearest friend. Your heart will race and break along side the Pecensie children as they learn and teach us what courage, humility and self sacrifice truly is. #narnia #52challenge

Harry potter and The hobbit are books that people dive into the world and learn more about it. The Chronicles of Narnia is another book that has a world with many different aspects. This book has been banned because of violence, gore, and mystical factors but what people might not know about it is that it is a huge symbol of the bible.

One of my all time faves. I finished this today with my Year 9 class! C S Lewis's childhood home, 'Little Lea' is literally around the corner to the school I teach in ... I have been known to peer through the gates 😉

I first read this book when I was younger, but at the time, I didn't really care for it. I never even finished the rest of the series. So, I decided to try them again. I enjoyed it much more this time around. I still wouldn't say it's one of my favorite books, but I did like it, and I actually want to continue the series this time.

My Sunday is very, very cold and wet today!

Generally speaking, I associate fantasy with my childhood. My dad read to me and my sisters every night until we moved into a house with bedrooms for all of us.

But specifically, the tagged book and the whole series. I can‘t read them myself now without hearing his voice in my head. ❤️

I've placed the 2010 movie on my queue at Disney+ and looking forward to that this weekend.

I've also placed the next book in the series (by publication date) on hold. That will come in before the first of the year but won't be read until 2023.

Zoes_Human I remember the delight I had in reading “The Magician's Nephew“ the first time after having read “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe“. It was both thrilling and thought-provoking to me to have discovered the history. It made me look around the world with wonder and start thinking about how everyone around me had stories in their past that I might not know yet. I was 7 or 8 at the time, and it changed my perspective forever. 2y

Having watched the movie a few times, which I really like, I‘m glad I‘ve finally read the book. I was impressed with how closely the movie followed the book. I think though I would have liked the book more if I hadn‘t seen the movie. It lacked the novelty of the first book, The Magician‘s Nephew (& I may have missed Kenneth Branaugh‘s brilliant narration from the Magician). But of course it was still excellent and I look forward to the next book.

#OnThisDay in 1950 the world was introduced to the magical land of Narnia with the publication of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The first glimpse of the story came to Lewis at the age of 16 when he imagined a fawn walking through a snowy wood. Many years later that fawn became Mr Tumnus and Narnia was born. Another beloved character didn't appear in the story's earliest drafts, can you guess who? #HistoryGetsLIT

Our Airbnb was located on Aslan Cir., and some of the other streets I noticed were Tumnus, Caspian, and Dawn Treader. How cute!

Bonus: incredible views of the Chugach Range in the background.

✨Dancer. Writer. Model. Actress. Pilot. Nurse. ✨
These were all words to describe who Renie, my Grandmother, was; but her most treasured titles were Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She lost her battle with cancer yesterday. She was 92 years young 😎She spent 40+ years as a nurse; in retirement she wrote psychology textbooks, devotionals, and poetry. She modeled for a few years, too. She loved to read, and the tagged book ⬇️

MoonWitch94 series was her ultimate favorite. She bought them for me as a child. She loved wine, board games, reading mystery novels, tap dancing (she started at 75!!!) and acting. She was truly something. We will treasure the memory of this accomplished & complicated woman forever. Love you, Ia-Ia (pronounced Ya-Ya). 💜 2y
