Dollar Tree, you done good!
So excited to see these 😁 💵 🌳
I‘ve been at a library conference this week and have had some very special experiences. The most exciting? See Judy Blume-a dream come true! She was a true delight-funny, tough, and so supportive of librarians and libraries!
Episode 234 of my book podcast can only be described with one word: ICONIC. It brings together two true QUEENS of YA, with Meg Cabot as my guest and Judy Blume‘s BLUBBER as the topic of conversation. 👑👑👑 Tune in to hear Meg share her love for and personal connection with this complicated book. We talk about bullying, banned books, diet culture, and more. ✨ Listen at the link in my bio!

I‘m sure I would have felt differently about this book if I‘d read it as a kid instead of as an adult. I assume it‘s supposed to teach kids a lesson about why they shouldn‘t bully people, but by the end of the book none of the characters really seemed to have learned their lesson.
Kids are mean. I‘m not going to lie, I almost bailed on this one. I understand exactly what the author was trying to do, but it was incredibly hard to listen too. I was only teased once growing up (about some shoes), but I never wore those shoes again. I can recognize that this is a good book, it was just hard for me to read. #booked2021 #jewishauthor
thanks for tag @Skygoddess1
Read this book a long time ago in elementary school. I would reread again for fun.
I like reading and turning pages
Thankful for the great weather this week
let‘s play @lazylokistarkthorcaptain and @Alora

Blume is the reason I became a reader, her books hooked me and I loved them. A few of my original Blume books from childhood. Blubber was a favorite.
I love the simple cover of the book with a little sketched out whale. Judy Blume books always have great style in my opinion.
This book does a great job of relating to real life situations that children would be able to understand. Jill just wants to focus on halloween but she has a report she‘s dreading working on.
This books represents the cruelty children can bring to each other while at school. It uses real life situations that can happen to anyone when bullying occurs inside or outside of a classroom. Genre:Realistic Fiction; Published: 1974
“Wendy and Caroline made copies of their How to Have Fun with Blubber list and on Monday morning they passed them out.”
This is a good book to share with students especially around the middle school ages when bullying can be very prevalent. It is important to address those topics before they have a chance to become issues.
This is a realistic story about a girl named Linda.she is made fun of in her class and called Blubber. This book addresses the problem of social dynamics and cruelty that comes with bullying.
I like the quote because it shows that sometimes you have to be brave and make the first move to achieve what you want in life! You can‘t let people push you around and walk all over you and this quote really brings that out!
I like the style of the chapter titles because it provides a glimpse into what might happen within the chapter!
Published in 1974, this realistic fiction book focuses on the topic of bullying and how it effects students in and out of the school. Unfortunately, it is honestly portrays the realities of life for some children today and it illuminates the problems and issues of growing up in today‘s world especially with the use of technology. It is a great story for children to know they aren‘t alone in their struggles and that there is hope.
This book is about children making fun of someone named Linda. They call her blubber because she is obese and so her class have her that named since she did a book report on whales.
At 80, living legend / author Judy Blume may not come to mind as #yourbestamericangirl but she has written stories that American kids think about and shaped the way tweens and teenage girls talk about puberty, periods and female sexual experiences. Recently she has granted film rights for her book, Are You There God? It‘s Me, Margaret, to be adapted into a film.

The first book I fell in love with. Thank you Judy Blume, you made my adolescence so much less awkward. What was the first book you fell in love with?

My top five are Blubber, Are You There God It‘s Me Margaret, Just as Long As We‘re Together, Starring Sally J. Freedman as Herself, and Summer Sisters. I‘ve read almost everything she‘s written when I was young. Which of her books would you like to see made into a movie?
This book is such a sweet book. Whenever I read it, I felt that I needed to donate to some cause for children like the ones in the book. I feel like this book teaches grades 2 - 5 (although watch out for bad things like cussing and sexual references. I can‘t remember if this book have any like other Judy Blume books.) about anti-bullying and standing up for themselves. I highly recommend you read this book, and other books written by Judy Blume!
1. So Long and Thanks for All the Fish
2. Hippie Boy by Ingrid Ricks
3. Kids can be cruel (tagged)
4. You do you.

I never really thought about how many Judy Blume books were banned and/or controversial. I also found it interesting that Blubber was supposedly banned because the bully was never punished. As an elementary teacher currently living in a world of "no punishments" I find this really interesting. Nevertheless, she was one of my favorite authors growing up, maybe because she was so groundbreaking. #bannedbooklove #backtoreading
It's Friday and there's classrooms that need help to teach kids! Leila Roy and Kelly Jensen selected another two classrooms that you can help by donating or signal boosting: http://bookriot.com/2017/03/24/324-action-item-literacy-activities-and-a-classro...
Gonna reread this old beater of mine for an Adolescent/Emerging Adulthood Psych class.
This edition was printed in 1985 & it was a hand-me-down from my ma's friend that I obtained circa 1990.
Can a bitch write 7 pages minimum on Miss Judy's "Blubber"?
IDK. It depends. Is it a dare, or a double dare?
Excited to start the #birthdaychallenge today. Thanks @TheNextBook for the idea! I'd have liked to start with some long, worthy tome but Blubber was the book from 1974 that jumped out at me. Judy Blume was one of the first authors I got genuinely excited about but I never read this one... #christmastimereads #7booksin7days #book6
Throw back to childhood reading- love all the Judy Blume books! #SeasonsReadings2016 #BooksWithSilhouettes @RealLifeReading
If I recall, the major events in this little gem occurred surrounding Halloween. That makes it a not-scary Halloween book for #AllHallowsRead
