Goodnight Beautiful
Goodnight Beautiful | Aimee Molloy
From "master of clever misdirection" (Kirkus Reviews) Aimee Molloy, author of the New York Times bestseller The Perfect Mother, comes an irresistible psychological thriller featuring a newly married woman whose life is turned upside down when her husband goes missing. Golden boy and reformed heartbreaker Sam Statler is looking forward to returning to his hometown of Orlando, New York, with his clever new wife, Annie. They've bought the house of their dreams and Sam, a therapist, is finally opening his own practice, attending to the egos of his (mostly female) clientele. Sensitive, curious, with a dimple to die for, Sam is a changed man--nothing like his no-good father, who left his own wife for a Talbots catalogue model. From the outside, Sam and Annie are building a picture-perfect life. But when Sam disappears and his secrets are exposed--including a house facing foreclosure and a mountain of debt he hid from Annie--everyone assumes he's following in his father's footsteps. Of course, assumptions being what they are, the truth is far more complex--and shocking. Showcasing Aimee Molloy's deft ability to subvert norms and expectations and culminating in the kind of unexpected twist that is becoming her trademark, Goodnight Beautiful is a thrilling tale of domestic suspense that explores just how far individuals will go to protect the ones they love--and to hide their own secrets.

I liked this one. It had a lot of good twists. I felt like it consistently kept me guessing which I really liked. I loved the references to Misery throughout. It reminded me of the show The Patient that was recently on and I enjoyed that. I did think it was a bit unbelievable in parts, but overall, I did like it and once I got time to read it I couldn‘t put it down.

Going into this one blind is the way to go, so I‘ll keep this vague and short. Molloy takes you on a wild ride, flipping the story on its head just when you think you know what‘s happening. It‘s twisty and fast-paced, part mystery, part love story, and part psychological thriller. I listened to the audiobook, and it added so much to the experience with multiple narrators and entertaining performances. ❤️📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I ate this book up. The first half of this book has two really good twists that took me by surprise. Near the end, it started to become one of Stephen King's novels (I don't want to mention which one for spoilers). It just got a little too close to Kings' original for me. This author did change some things. It wasn't exact, but I felt a little let down that it felt like a re-telling. Still enjoyed the first half, and the rest was still fine. 4/5

I‘ve had this forever and finally read it. Decent thriller, but I kept thinking this particular trope is a bit overdone, plus the Misery references just didn‘t gel? But, it kept me reading and I mostly enjoyed it! One backlog Kindle read off the TBR!

I was warned to not listen to this one but I did anyway. One of the narrators definitely ruined the experience but I was able to set it aside and enjoy the story. Pretty twisty misery-esque storyline.

This is one of those fascinating books that keeps your head spinning until the bitter end! Therapist Sam goes missing and wife Annie is shocked and devastated as his car can‘t be found and he appears to have simply vanished. Of course there are twists and turns you couldn‘t predict, so get ready to be mystified!

A quick fun read with a mystery, a few sharp pointy twists that I didn‘t see coming, a thread of King‘s Misery, and an ending that wasn‘t predictable.

I dunno. Maybe I need to take a break from thrillers for a while. Sam ( a therapist) and Annie (a professor) leave their big city lives for Sam‘s hometown in upstate NY where they are closer to his mom who has dementia. All is not as it seems for this crazy-in-love pair, though. Secrets are being kept and then Sam disappears. It was okay, but as often is the case for me, it fell like a soufflé at the end. #doublespin for Dec

Wow! This book was crazy good. At several points the author completely shocked me, causing me to question everything I‘d just read. There were so many revelations and they were all done so cleverly. I‘m seriously impressed! I read a lot of thrillers but this was a cut above, in my opinion.

The current packing view lol.
This was entertaining- unreliable narrator(s) and a Misery theme. The first twist comes soon, thankfully, in a way.
The end went differently than I had imagined it might and it was a bit refreshing.

January‘s book report! I want to make an effort to read more romances for the month of February. All these books are psychotic or sad, or both (except for The Unhoneymooners!) I need some light reads in my life. I started the tagged book tonight, and the amount of times I‘ve said “Wait… WHAT?!” is alarming. I can‘t put it down.

BookLineNSinker I love your taste in books! Very similar to mine with a little bit of everything mixed in. How did you like City of Girls? 2y

147 of 2021. Annie is a newly married woman who‘s husband disappears. Many think Sam, her husband, just got in over his head financially and took off. Is everything as it seems though? This book has plenty of twists to make this an entertaining read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Read in September 2021 for Litsy Markup Postal Book Club #LMPBC Round 12 - #GroupC

An irresistible psychological thriller featuring a newly married woman whose life is turned upside down when her husband goes missing. A handsome psychotherapist. His lonely wife. And in his home office ceiling, a vent … You‘d listen too…

Filled with twists, turns and misdirection and told by an unreliable narrator it kept me up way past my bedtime.

🎧 Quick easy thriller ... there‘s a twist that I didn‘t see coming that knocks this book on its ear.

Sam & Annie met & got married in a matter of months. Sam convinces Annie to move to a rural town to spend time with his aging mom. They‘ve been married for 6 Weeks.

Sam‘s inheriting $2M from his absentee dad that‘ll help establish him in his psych practice in the small town. Or is he?

Sam has disappeared. 😁

Just a fun read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was the perfect thriller to pull me out of a dumpy mood. Quick read, great twists and suspense that ramps up. Really enjoyed this one. The only knock I have on it is that one POV is written in 1st person and the other in 3rd which was a little jarring at first.

Book2 #marvellousMarch.
This was an interesting twisted story. Split into three parts that pull the story together to an ending that is very well done. The story jumps perspective and at the start you're not sure who is who but thats the way its meant to be and I liked figuring out who it was each time. This story does follow similar paths of another well known story which happens to be a favourite of mine. #Netgalley 4*

I never really expected what I got. Sam and Annie are really great characters to follow along. They move back to chestnut hill to visit sams mother and watch over her to make sure she‘s taken care of while he opens his own psychology practice in the Lawrence house thanks to a generous landlord. This book genuinely reminds me of the silent patient in the way the twists and turns are. The second half of the book is something new at every corner.

TheBookAddict I enjoyed this one as well. Every time I thought I had it all figured out I was shown that I was wrong. I immediately handed it over to my husband so he could read it and we could talk about it. 🙂👍🏽 4y
