2001: A Space Odyssey | Arthur C. Clarke

Pickpick

For such a small book, only 224pges, it sure packs a lot in. It has 4 distinct parts, the 1st with prehistoric man, the 2nd the finding of the slab on the moon, 3rd the journey with HAL the homicidal AI then the evolution of the star child. It reminds me a great deal of the movie Contact with Jodi Foster it some ways, the last section particularly. Its one of those books that I‘ll find myself thinking about for a long time.5⭐️ #MarchUnshelfing

Clwojick Way to go! 4y
vivastory You probably already know this, but Clarke wrote this based on Kubrick's film. One of the earlier, & probably more well-known, novelizations of a movie. 4y
vivastory Well I should say he wrote it as kubrick was making his movie & then published it afterwards* 4y

Mehso-so

Bk5 of my #MarchUnshelfing #readathon & #challenge is done! This has been on my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom since it was released in October. It‘s a so-so for me coz while the idea had potential, there was something just a bit lacking in it for me. I‘m not sure what, I was left feeling unsatisfied, like there was more to be told. Here‘s hoping Bk2 helps answer those questions🤞 #LitsyAtoZ2020 #LetterN #MandMChallenge #NewSeries #MountTBR2020 #No6

Clwojick This is on my TBR too 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Wowza—all those prompts! I have this on my shelf and hope I like it ... 4y

One more down in my #PhryneMarathon This sees Phryne & her maid Dot take the lovely Lin Chung on a house party weekend in the Australian Alps. But like all of Phrynes adventures, things get lively, a maid is assaulted then goes missing, there‘s death threats & snares laid for the unwary. Just another weekend for the unconventional flapper! #phryneappreciationclub #LitsyAtoZ2020 #LetterU #PopSugar20 #PublishedInThe20thCentury #MountTBR2020 #Bk3 👇👇

Bk4 of my #24B4Monday #readathon is done. Bk4 in a series, about a reluctant partnership between a sceptical Scotland Yard detective & a belligerent Scottish Inspector who believes in the paranormal. Set in Victorian Edinburgh, it‘s hilarious & enthralling in equal measure. Like Rebus with a spooky twist. Loved it. #Booked2020 #TartanNoir #PopSugar20 #AtLeast4StarGRRating #MandMChallenge #Twins #ReadHarder2020 #HistoricalFictionNotSetInWWII👇👇

Bk3 of my #24B4Monday #readathon is done. Another fabulous addition to the “Wayward Children” series, it definitely lived up to the rest. This was a continuation(and maybe the end?)of Jack & Jills story, with Kade, Christopher, Cora & Sumi along for the ride. I absolutely adored it, it opened up The Moors a bit more, which sound terrifying especially for a child! 5⭐️ #Booked2020 #CoverCrush #LitsyAtoZ2020 #LetterC #ReadingWomensChallenge2020👇👇

Lizpixie @jb72 thank you! I‘m living on painkillers & stories right now🙃 @Cinfhen it‘s the only thing keeping me sane atm. I‘m hoping this year is better, I‘m finally getting married in October!!👰🏻 4y
Cinfhen Wow!! That‘s wonderful, not the painkillers but the upcoming nuptials 😘 4y
Lizpixie @Cinfhen thank you lovely. It‘s only been 27yrs in the making, not a long engagement at all!😂 4y
Cinfhen Only 27 years!?!!? @Lizpixie that‘s like 4x longer than most marriages 😂😂😂 4y
Lizpixie @Cinfhen I thought I‘d better make an honest man of him while I can still walk down the aisle. Plus my dad should get to marry off one of his daughters before he‘s gone👴🏻 4y
Andrew65 Great 👏👏👏 4y
Andrew65 @Lizpixie We‘re on Year 33 of our engagement. Have a great wedding.@cinfhen (edited) 4y

Bk2 of my #24B4Monday #readathon is finished. Bk2 also of the “Child Finder” series, it definitely lived up to the expectations from Bk1, it continued Naomi‘s story brilliantly while weaving it with that of another lost girl. While Naomi is driven to find the sister she‘s only just remembered having, Celia is driven from fear of what her stepdad will do to the sister she left behind. #Booked2020 #AnimalOnTheCover #PopSugar20 #MeantToReadIn2019 👇👇

Cinfhen Would also work for #CoverCrush 💚🥰 4y
Cinfhen I love the idea of #AntiAlphabetSoup / I‘m guessing it‘s titles that omit a letter???!!! 4y

Wow. This book completely drew me in. I finished it & looked up to realise it was 7am & I hadn‘t moved from the same spot since I‘d started at midnight. Loved it so much I was completely overwhelmed with jealousy that these literary characters were in a perfect part of the Scottish highlands, and I wasn‘t.😩 if you love Scotland or any of Colgans other books, you‘ll love this one. 5⭐️ #LitsyAtoZ2020 #LetterB #PopSugar20 #WithAnMCInTheir20s 👇👇👇

This book will be staying with me. A perfect story of The Troubles,it weaves together the past & present of NI, the stories of perpetrators & victims and why peace is such a delicate thing. It ends in frustration, not one person has paid for Jean McConvilles murder & no-one ever will. Her children were the only innocent ones in the entire story, it‘s them I feel for the most. Tragic. #NonFiction2020 #AboutSocialJustice #LitsyAtoZ2020 #LetterK 👇👇

Lizpixie And if anyone believes that Gerry Adams was not a member of the IRA, I have a nice piece of “slightly wet” land to sell them!😉 4y
Suet624 I loved this book. 4y
