Shadow and Bone | Leigh Bardugo

Hello Littens! I‘ve gotten away from posting here and also haven‘t been reading much other than ARCs. Finally got to the library and got a stack from my TBR list, yay! I confess I did watch Shadow and Bone on Netflix (Ben Barnes 🥰🤩🤤) before reading the book, so I‘m thinking I‘ll tackle that one first. Any rave reviews for anything else in this stack? Which is the best Halloween season read??? 🎃👻💀 Thanks! #lookingforrecommendations

I‘m thinking I‘d like to give audiobooks a try this year, and I could use some good nonfiction recommendations. 😬

#lookingforrecommendations

vlwelser I like funny ones read by the author like Yes Please by Amy Poehler but Unbroken read by the dad from Gilmore Girls was also stunning. 3y
Bookwormjillk On Writing by Stephen King, Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowel, and A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson are some of my favorites 3y
Amandajoy Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer (though I did speed it up to 1.25 or 1.5), Troublemaker by Leah Remini, Education of Idealist by Samantha Power, In the Country We Love by Diane Guerrero, Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb. I really like nonfiction on audio. 3y

Scochrane26 I like audio nonfiction. I read Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks, The Radium Girls, & a lot of celeb memoirs on audio. Love Retta‘s book, Busy Philipps, Mindy Kaling. 3y
BarbaraBB You should definitely ask the NF audio queens @Cinfhen and @Megabooks 👸👸 3y
Megabooks Thanks for the tag @BarbaraBB ! I‘m a bit exhausted today, but I can make suggestions if you narrow down a bit what kind of nonfiction you like. Memoirs? Narrative? Pop sci? Social sciences? I listen to it all! 3y
Cinfhen Same!!! Im not exhausted but I like SO MUCH NF!!!! If u give me some NF you recently liked or loved in the past I‘ll be happy to come up with suggestions 💕 3y
shadowspeak17 @vlwelser @Bookwormjillk @Amandajoy @Scochrane26 Thank you all for the suggestions! I‘ll check them out 😃 3y
shadowspeak17 @Megabooks @Cinfhen Thanks! 😊 I don‘t read a lot of nonfiction, so I haven‘t read very widely in any of these categories, but I am really interested in social sciences. I‘ve also enjoyed some true crime and memoirs.

Evicted, Dear Ijeawele, Tears We Cannot Stop, In the Dream House, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Born a Crime are some I‘ve really liked.
3y
Megabooks Oral history - also this is a super awesome multi-cast recording!! (edited) 3y
Megabooks Okay I‘ll stop!! Anyway, if you ever want more recs, historically my split is 50/50 fiction/nonfiction, so I always have recs! 3y
Megabooks @Cinfhen did I cover some of it?? 😉😉 3y
Megabooks Oh and a few of us audiophiles just read this one thanks to Cindy 3y
Megabooks Also this is my current listen. Antiracism. Good so far!! (I switched to the audiobook.) (edited) 3y
Megabooks Also @Hooked_on_books and @britt_brooke are great people to follow for frequent audiobook recs (in addition to @Cinfhen and me 😉😉) 3y
Cinfhen Wow @Megabooks how did you rattle that off so quickly!!!! I‘ve listened to 12/15 of your suggestions and I would 💯 agree with many of them!!! (edited) 3y
Cinfhen Here are a few off the top of my head... social justice 3y
Cinfhen Celebrity memoirs 3y
Cinfhen I‘m blanking on True Crime 🤷🏼‍♀️ 3y
Cinfhen I‘d try your library services and borrow as many as you can...this way if you don‘t like the content or narration it didn‘t cost you anything but a little bit of time. Also I always listen to at least the first chapter before I decide if the book is a good fit. Sometimes I need a few minutes to adjust to the narrator. Good luck and let us know what you decided on...THERE ARE LOADS of GREAT RECOMMENDATIONS here!!!! 3y
Megabooks @Cinfhen I always feel like I miss some favs, but I try to mention the ones that made an IMPRESSION when I make recommendations. I‘m adding the Syria one. I don‘t have one for that country yet, and I don‘t think I stacked it when you originally posted. 3y
Cinfhen I don‘t know why that audiobook really touched me @Megabooks i hope you enjoy it too xx 3y
britt_brooke @Megabooks Thanks, friend! 🎧💚 3y
shadowspeak17 @Megabooks @Cinfhen Wow, thank you guys so much! These recommendations sound great! 😄 Now I‘ve just got to figure out which one to read first. 🤔☺️ 3y
Cinfhen Keep us posted on your quest!!!! 3y
shadowspeak17 @Cinfhen Absolutely! 😄 3y

Does anyone have any recommendations for good graphic novels appropriate for 11 year old girls? Thanks in advance! 😁 #lookingforrecommendations #graphicnovels

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Not my genre, but I've seen Baby Sitters Club books in graphic novel version. I loved those books when I was around that age. 🤷‍♀️ 5y

alisiakae My 11 yr old likes Amulet, LumberJane‘s, and Raina Telgemeier. 5y
alisiakae Everything @BookishTrish recommended too! Also 5y
kgriffith I‘d have to reread but you can take a look, perhaps it‘d be age-appropriate and also have adult themes that the reader would pick up on later? Don‘t recall how expressly they‘re included. 5y
BookishTrish Anytime! 5y
alisiakae @shadowspeak17 Happy to help! My daughter reads a TON of graphic novels. 😃 5y

While being home sick (still 🤬🤧🤬🤒🤬🤧) I found this book in an email.

Has anyone read this or any of the books in the main series? Any good? I am realizing I might like fantasy after reading The Name of the Wind for #EpicBuddyRead and looking to see what other books I might enjoy.

cobwebmoth Hope you're feeling better soon! 6y
Cinfhen Hope you feel better soon ❣️ (edited) 6y

MinDea Thanks @cobwebmoth! Just so you know I didn't send the package to you and &TK421 as I didn't want to also send my germs. I'll send it as soon as I am feeling better. Hopefully next week. 6y
MinDea Thanks @Cinfhen! 6y
MinDea Thanks @TrishB and thank you for the recommendation! 6y
Kaye Get well soon. 💐 6y
Christine11 Hope you are feeling better soon! 🌼🌻🌼 6y
MinDea @DebinHawaii I love your vegan avoglemon soup recipe and I was wondering if there was a similar just rice and lemon soup you'd recommend. Not necessarily vegan as I don't happen to have any of those ingredients for the other soup handy to make today while I am home sick. 🤧 6y
DebinHawaii Do you eat/have eggs? If so Ruth Reichl's version is really good & simple if you have broth, eggs, rice & lemons: http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot.com/2017/03/ruth-reichls-avgolemono-soup-simple.h... 6y
MinDea I do! Thank you @DebinHawaii! 6y

I am going to Disney world next month and will have 10+ hours of fly time plus downtime when my kids sleep. Has anyone read the Forbidden Hearts series by Alisha Rai?!? It has been a while since I read a real romance novel/series.

LizzieChantree Have a fabulous holiday. Happy reading! 6y
CoffeeK8 I just finished the first and am in the middle of the second one. I am loving them! It‘s recommend downloading a sample, it gives you a good idea of the feel of the book, and if you like the sample you‘ll probably like the book 6y
Jas16 I have read the first two and really liked them. 6y

I‘ve read some really good short stories recently, and I would like to read more. 😃 What short stories and/or short story collections would you lovely Littens recommend?

#shortstories #lookingforrecommendations #recommend

AmyG I am not one for short stories but I do love 6y
2BR02B This collection is terrific, and the audiobook is available for free in the Audible app. 6y
2BR02B I've also discovered some really phenomenal short stories/authors by listening to the podcast Levar Burton Reads. 6y
Meeko93 I loved this one and don't read very many short stories. 6y
shadowspeak17 @AmyG @2BR02B @Meeko93 Thank you guys so much for your suggestions! I‘m going to look into these. 😃 6y

Origin | Dan Brown
post image

My boyfriend‘s mom is a huge Dan Brown fan, so I‘d like to get her his new book for Christmas if I can figure out whether she‘s read it or not yet. I‘d like to get her a couple other books too, so I‘m trying to come up with other ideas for books to get her. What books would you guys recommend for fans of Dan Brown? She also likes thrillers too, I think, so if you know of any good ones please shout them out too. 😄

#lookingforrecommendations

jenniferw88 I'm a big Dan Brown fan and can recommend Scott Mariani for fellow enthusiasts - the first book is tagged 6y
2BR02B I'd recommend Caleb Carr. Specifically, 6y
shadowspeak17 @2BR02B Oh, I loved that book! ❤️ 6y
shadowspeak17 @jenniferw88 @swishandflick Thanks, I‘ll check those out. 😃 6y
