I‘m recently obsessed with diamond painting and this is my current one! I have a few more on order, but I find them so relaxing. Current audiobook is tagged.

My goals for this round were low and I don‘t think I met them, but that‘s okay! I‘m definitely slumping right now, but I love these readathons because no matter how I‘m feeling during the month I‘m always inspired to read!

April was a good reading month for me! Most of my 5 star reads were new to me, and it‘s hard to choose which one I loved most.

I loved every minute of Project Hail Mary. I was so excited to find an arc at work and honestly couldn‘t read it fast enough. Andy Weir goes back to his roots with PHM and pulls everything that was fun and compelling about The Martian into a new story that will make you laugh and want to cry. As always, Weir discusses the philosophical question of the good of the one over the good of the many. I can‘t wait to buy a finished copy!

I finally made a bookstagram account! It‘s all very new to me and really only for fun, but if you want to give me a follow I‘d appreciate the support 🥰

Between starting my new job and getting my first COVID vaccine shot, I did not accomplish my #AwesomeApril readathon goals, BUT I did have a great first week, bought 7 books, and had minimal side effects to the dose. Treating myself to sushi and a Starbucks drink and reading outside feels like the perfect way to end my weekend before going back to the real world.

Done my first arc of the #AwesomeApril readathon! I... did not enjoy this. I think forbidden priest romances just aren‘t for me because I could find a single thing I enjoyed about it, but I was intrigued by the other characters to maybe read the first two books in the series.

The start of another great readathon! My goal for this round is to get through at least two Netgalley arcs. Hopefully more, but who knows how this week is gonna go with the chaos of starting a new job!

Perfect, another book for me to never stop yelling about. This was beautiful. A Thousand Ships is a retelling of The Iliad and The Odyssey from the perspectives of the women involved, and casts them as the true heroes of the saga. I think enjoyment of this tale definitely relies on the reader being familiar with the events of the Iliad/Odyssey and parts of The Oresteia, but it‘s so worth it.

I finished my MLIS in December and have been job hunting for the last few months, but I‘m so excited to share that I was just hired at one of my local indie bookstores!! I‘ll be starting in the Romance section, a genre I‘m still new to but love, so any and all recommendations are welcome (pictured is my very small collection). I‘m so happy that my day job will involve me yelling about books 🤩

Quinta Brunson is one of my favourite BuzzFeed alumni, and reading this felt like talking to a friend after a long day. Her essays span from childhood to present day, chronicling the important moments in her life and how she became the Quinta we (love to) see on the internet. It opens a door into her world, all the good and bad parts, challenges us to pursue our dreams and fall in love, counsels us on how to deal if (and/or when) we become a meme.

What a wild ride. This felt like a fairytale fever dream and I cannot recommend it enough. Super interested in reading more by Leduc!

I just? Everything about this was perfect?

This story is the perfect combination of Pride and Prejudice-esque angst, magic, and high society drama. The first part was a bit slow, but the slow burn was worth it. I will read literally anything Silvia Moreno-Garcia writes, and I'm pretty sure it'll be perfect every single time.

I say perfect a lot in this review but I have no other words.

The good news is that I‘ve read 4/6 books from my #MarvelousMarch tbr pile; the bad news is that all of them have been good, not great.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and honestly it fell a little flat for me. I‘ve been obsessed with Greek mythology and stories since forever, so I was really hoping this would be a new favourite. It was a fun read overall, and even though I didn‘t love it, I would definitely recommend it.

The spring time change always messes me up, so I‘m taking the opportunity to sit and read for a while because I‘m too tired to do anything else 😅

I started the tagged book yesterday, so my goal for the #MarvelousMarch readathon is to read at least three of the book crate/special editions I need to catch up on. Hopefully I can get through the whole stack, but who knows what the week will bring!

#MarvelousMarch starts tomorrow and I can‘t decide if I want to use this time to tackle some of my Netgalley arcs or to catch up on some last book crate books and special editions. It might be a combination of both 🤷🏻‍♀️ depending on what I start next, it‘ll be decided.

I‘ve recently become enamoured with Silvia Moreno-Garcia‘s works and I‘m so sad I didn‘t discover her sooner because it looks like most of her backlist is out of print?? I‘m just a few chapters into this one but I already know I‘m going to love it. If anyone knows where I can find physical copies of her older books please let me know!!

I‘m so excited for the Canada Reads debate to start on Monday! All of these books were exceptional; Hench was my favourite by far, but I want Jonny Appleseed to win. I read TMB as an ARC and enjoyed it, but not everything worked for me. TTMAF was beautiful but I got lost in some of the science. JA was a devastating character study, and BHPB was an intense story that spans multigenerational grief. I highly recommend all of them.

Finally picking up the last of the Canada Reads 2021 shortlist, which I will hopefully be done in time for the debates next week! I‘ve enjoyed the other 4 picks, but this is the one I think I‘m the most excited about.

So many good ones exist, but Dinos and Comics has been bringing me a lot of joy this pandemic. I also loved Saga (tagged), Fables, Nimona, and Lumberjanes, and I‘ve been wanting to try Rat Queens!

Kobo was also running a promotion that gave users 100 points for each book finished during the month, so that definitely motivated me to read books I had sitting on my account.

The #FabulousFebruary readathon was a success for me! I was planning on rereading the ACOTAR books in anticipation of the new one in the series, so this readathon was perfectly timed for me. Thanks @Andrew65 for hosting again!
