3/5
Enjoyable read overall, but kind of slow for me, sometimes boring. I won't go on with this series.

Delightful. Given the original 90s publication date, I'm particularly pleased with how female forward this story was. It might seem like feminism 101 that the princess wants more out of life than comportment and being married off, that a female dragon can be the King of Dragons, that Morwen the witch, and cat lady,☺️ is a formidable ally, but as this feels like it was written for middle grade readers, I don't begrudge it for simple, clear 1/?
Solidifying my theory that what Maleficent really needed was to loosen up. 😆
Have an unfortunate craving for dragon ASMR, now. 🤦🏼♂️
This dragon wants someone to bake for them and catalogue their library: dream job. 🍰📜📚
Going to be an old grump for a moment.
I was four when this book was first published, and the only reason I know it exists now is a Tumblr post appreciating the original cover art.
See first edition, another edition I don't mind, and the latest cover I got from the library below. There's just something about children's book art and animation from the 90s that feels like it's been lost or at least not prioritized as a form since. 🙎🏼♂️
Catch up the first.
I loved this book, absolutely adored it. I wish I‘d read it as a kid and I can‘t wait for kiddo to read it. But she‘ll have to wait until I finish the quartet because otherwise we‘ll be fighting over them! Cimorene is a great hero and Kazul the dragon is awesome. I hope to finish the remaining three this month.
I have to say, I will learn to cook if I can be a princess for a dragon. Anyways, I loved this book with every fiber of my being. Only once did I despair at the sheer volume of knights coming to the rescue. Fortunately that wasn‘t permanent
I love fantasy! Magic, dragons, the world building.
I adored this book growing up! And I love revisiting this whole series! ❤️
#SundayFunday Have a great day and remember to tag me! 💜
Did you know that this Sunday, January 16th, is NATIONAL DRAGON DAY?!?! 🐉🐉🐉 I just had to set up a mini dragon books display in the Teen room at the library for obvious reasons! 😁 #librarylove #librariansoflitsy #dragonlibrarian
They say to dress for the job you want, not for the job you have. But when you're a librarian, and the job you want IS the job you have, its a good life and you're a pretty lucky person! 😊💕📚 Happy Friday, Litsy! #librarylove #librariansoflitsy #dragonlibrarian
I just have to show off my new shirt from Out of Print! 🐉💕📚 It's pretty much perfect! 😁 Happy Friday, Litsy family! #dragonlibrarian
I felt like a kid again when I sat down and read this in a day. An amazing MG book about a princess who is supposed to do "proper" princess things.... being dragon's princess technically counts as proper princess things. Cimorene gets caught up in the politics of the dragons and must uncover a conspiracy about the wizards meddling in the affairs of the dragons. #fantasy #middlegrade #dragons
Loving this middle grade book which has a princess who is hell bent on busting all social conventions.
“He doesn‘t seem very impressed,” Cimorene commented in some amusement.
“Why should he be?” Kazul said.
“Well, you‘re a dragon,” Cimorene answered, a little taken aback.
“What difference does that make to a cat?”
“Yes, yes, but that has nothing to do with it,” Kazul said a little testily. “‘King‘ is the name of the job. It doesn‘t matter who holds it.”
Cimorene stopped and thought for a moment. “You mean that dragons don‘t care whether their king is male or female; the title is the same no matter who the ruler is.”
“That‘s right...”
Book 7 on my Top Ten Dragon books list! I love everything about this book! I read it so long ago, and the whole story really made an impression on me that it's always remained a favorite of mine. #dragonsoflitsy #toptendragonbooks
When you're lucky enough to be a librarian, EVERY day is a great day! 😊💕📚 Happy Friday, litsy family! #librarylove #librariansoflitsy #dragonsoflitsy #dragonlibrarian
What a fun book! My new favorite heroine! I'll have to track down the rest of the series

This book is all kinds of fabulous! Loving it!
As it turns out, I've read this one before, but I really enjoyed it. The MC reminds me of Tiffany Aching of Discworld, and I love her. I'm going to see if I can find more from this world at work 🤞🏻
I was able to go into work last week, and I *might* have gone a little overboard 📚😍
So. I went down the Patricia Wrede reread hole. Can't say I mind, dragons, melting wizards, and competent women wrapped with fairy tale references and light fun.
The only trouble is that now I want the glorious hardcover in the picture, it is so.. weird. I have a hardcover in finnish and an ebook, but oh I want that one. 🙈
Cimorene doesn't want to be a regular princess. She would much rather live among the dragons than sit in a castle all day sewing. In this hilarious tale, Cimorene embarks on an adventure to become a dragon's princess.
This is the perfect introductory book to the fantasy genre. Suitable for young readers and teens.

Full Review https://www.behindthepages.org/post/dealing-with-dragons-by-patricia-c-wrede
“Well, I'm not a proper princess, then,“ Cimorene snapped. “I make cherries jubilee, and I volunteer for dragons, and I conjugate Latin verbs- or at least I would if anyone would let me. So there!“
“Now, Princess, if you'll come this way, I'll get you settled in.“
I read a little into the second chapter, and she finds her way into a hovel with many dragons. I thought it was very brave of her to convince Kazul to take her on as the dragon princess to cook and organize the treasure rooms for them. It is more interesting for her than the proper princess stuff anyways.
After reading the back of the book, I think I would like it because princess Cimorene is not a normal princess. She runs away to live with Kazul, the most dangerous and powerful dragon around. In the first chapter, she hates being a princess and doing princess things. Her parents do not let her learn magic. She finds out that her parents plan to marry her with a prince who is not very smart so she takes advice from a talking frog and runs away.
And so it begins, one of my favorite partnerships in literary history. ☺️✨
Into hour three of #24in48. I haven‘t gotten too much reading done so far but what I have done has been highly enjoyable, so I‘ll take that.
Well I missed the cutoff for the first #24in48 challenge but I'm posting it anyway! 😁 When people ask me about favorite book series I've read, this is the series I think of. A princess who rescues herself, befriends a dragon, and other hijinks! Imagine my excitement when I discovered that my favorite illustrator (Trina Schart Hyman) did the hardback covers! 😍
Thor: Lizard of Thunder (Thor for short) or Kazul? Litsy help me decide!

I always seem to be a day behind on these!!
1. Honestly, probably Anne of Green Gables, but I have a huge soft spot for the Enchanted Forest Chronicles, which are just so funny.
2. Does horseradish count?? At a church dinner a long time ago they had delicious strawberry jello & I put a big dollop of what I thought was whipped cream on it - only to find out it was horseradish!!
3. Spiders!
4. 3 younger bros & 3 younger sis.

I read this 20 years ago and continued throughout .y whole life. It is one of my most cherished favorite series. #overandoveragain #reread
I have decided to forego my short story a day for kid's book chapter a day until I work through this small pile of impulse holds. Two of the three are rereads from my own child/teenhood, but I have never read Howl's.

I loved this! The characters were so interesting - I love a fiery princess who knows what she wants. It's well written and entertaining. I did the audio book and normally a full cast of characters makes things confusing for me, but this was so well done. Looking forward to reading more in the series.
Here is my favorite series for the hour 30 challenge of the #24in48readathon 😄😍 I love everything I've read by Patricia C. Wrede and love recommending her books!!! #24in48 @24in48
“No proper princess would come out looking for dragons," Woraug objected.
"Well I'm not a proper princess then!" Cimorene snapped. "I make cherries jubillee and I volunteer for dragons, and I conjugate Latin verbs-- or at least I would if anyone would let me. So there!”
I‘ve had this book on my tbr list for a really long time, and I can‘t believe it‘s taken me this long to read it because I loved it and I need to read the rest of the series.
Some light fiction to go along with my nonfiction. Wish I had read this as a kid. I would have loved it. It was published when I was 2, in 1990.
Alright I accidentally fell into rereading the whole series instead of just one. But how could one resist a book about being a dragons princess, discovering and unraveling wizards plots, and using dumb men's assumptions about women against them?
Not to mention Kazul's library! Talk about dream collections!
Also, I‘ve never been able to come up with a literary tattoo that would be meaningful enough to *me* personally, but this might change that. I mean, just picture the wooden sign from Morwen‘s porch, maybe on a bicep or a shoulder blade: NONE OF THIS NONSENSE, PLEASE
I think this series might be my ultimate comfort read, and I definitely needed it last night and this morning. Princess Cimorene, Kazul the Dragon, Morwen the witch... all still favorite characters. Time to go find my copies of the rest of the series ❤️🐉👸🏻❤️

Sunday morning 🍵🐲🍳
Nooot enjoying this narrator but staying with it. Figured I'd start putting on audios of favorite juvenile fiction in the mornings rather than leave news or cartoons on (I can't stand not having background noise when home with toddlers all day)
