🎄🎄🎄 This was a perfect little Christmas read to wind down with after a busy day of baking. If you enjoy the movie you‘ll enjoy the book as the book is based on the movie written by screenwriter Valentine Davies. I wrongly assumed it was the other way around.

Finally posting a much-belated review of this classic—getting back on Litsy after the holiday rush! This was a lovely holiday read—basically a retelling of the movie. I‘d hoped for a little “more” than the movie, perhaps a deeper look into Doris or Fred, but I enjoyed the simple, sweet, heartwarming story. I‘m glad the #ibelieveibelieve buddy read got me to pull it out of the Christmas books & read it this year (unlike the other book pictured!)

Finally watched Miracle with my teens. #wintergames #teamfestivus @wanderinglynn the comments- they could not believe Susan was allowed near Mr Galey- let alone in his apt before the mom even met him. The entire movie was one of teens explaining proper parent roles to me. I am exhausted from movie watching- and still hope to see Little Women and Star Wars before they leave the theatre- but then I will have met my movie quota for 2019 and 2029.

It's raining out here at Casa Tubac, I've had breakfast, and now I'm in a comfy chair in front of the fire. Don't be surprised if I fall asleep.

I finished this a few days ago and enjoyed it. Now I want to watch the old movie. 😊🎄 #IbelieveIbelieve

It took me a bit but I ending up enjoying this mid-century American Christmas fairy tale, in part because it spoke so much of its time when one could believe in both Santa Claus and the goodness capitalism. (My own faith in one of those things faltered awhile ago 🤨) But who can resist a good court case defending St. Nick?!

Good times with this buddy read! I remembered the remake movie, while just seeing the original this year for the first time! 🙂 I wondered a bit (after the movie) if some parts summarized by, but all was well done, within my shorter time through the winter work and shopping days. I enjoyed it!

After a busy weekend, I‘m catching a few moments tonight between work and my EfM group at church, to get a quick start on this one for the #ibelieveibelieve buddy read! My copy is the 1947 edition—I love old books with inscriptions from previous owners!

Started my buddy read at karate class this evening. Seems appropriate as, on the way here, my 8 year-old informed me he believes in Santa but NOT elves or reindeer. Sounds like a smart insurance policy. 😏

I'm starting in with the Miracle on 34th Street buddy read. I'll have this coming week mostly home, on easy reading time. 🤓 Today at the lakeside restaurant (I'm with kitchen staff) they'll have Santa in for the kids, with our bakery cook's best gingerbread cookies!

This is one of the books I got from the library. While I liked the movie, I loved the book. It has been a while since I read the book and I had forgotten some of the details. Reading the book, you would never know the movie was first. Still a great feel good story. Timeless! 5 ⭐
