Mehso-so

I want to clarify that this review strictly pertains to the Audible version narrated by Philippe Duquenoy; the merits of Poe‘s work isn‘t up for discussion here. Duquenoy‘s narration is so monotone and stilted that it actually lessons the merits of Poe‘s writing. It took me almost two years to get through this. At nearly 50 hours it was too hard to tolerate except in little bursts. Overall, I can‘t recommend this particular recording.

So I apparently mixed up yesterday‘s and today‘s #chillingphotochallenge, so here is my photo for RAVEN. I love Poe‘s work. 1 point for #teamslaughter @Clwojick 🎃😈👻

We made it!! Cedar Grove Mansion is so beautiful that words nor pictures can do it justice!!! But you guys know I will try!!! I‘m so intrigued with it‘s history and that it‘s supposedly haunted!! Lol The tagged book is my first purchase from the local bookstore! Probably not the best choice considering... 😱😱 I placed the book on cisterns that provide water to the entire estate...

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @GripLitGrl thank you!!! It‘s so beautiful!! ❤️ 6y
JaclynW We took our kids to stay the night in the luxury ocean liner, Queen Mary (docked in Long Beach, CA). It's also known for being haunted. It has a crazy history! It also has a personal connection to my husband since his grandpa traveled on it after being injured in WWII. My oldest daughter was freaking out and wouldn't go to sleep. The rest of us thought it was an awesome experience. 😄👻👻👻👻👻😄 6y

My antique copy is currently in a moving box over 3 hours away. Poe wrote quite a few poems and short stories focusing on narrators with #LostLoves, so he was the first author I thought of when I heard this prompt. Also, I'm pretty sure either he or one of his critics once said "The death of a beautiful woman is, unquestionably, the most poetical topic in the world." #JubilantJuly #LostLove @RealLifeReading

He is the king of such torturous beautifully painful poetry ?? Ultimate fav!!! Let's face it like Edgar Allen Poe said so perfectly " If a poem hasn't ripped apart your soul ; you haven't experienced poetry "

My pick for #unreliablenarrator for #MayBookFlowers is ANYTHING by Poe. He has to be one of my favorite authors of all time. A favorite memory from my junior high school days was a trip we took to a university that had put on Fall Of The House of Usher as a play, and it was magnificent.

I feel like all the narrators are unreliable because the main character usually starts with, "You will think I'm crazy, but I'm not."

"William Wilson" was my favorite! the photo is a screen grab from my iPoe app. if you haven't seen these apps, you should totally check them out. it's a fun way to update the old classics. there are even more different authors now but i think the Poe ones are the best ??☠️????

Apologies to y'all and Poe:

Once upon a night not dreary, while I pondered ebay, weary,
Over many a quaint and curious clutch I was bored,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly on screen came a sight,
As of some thing gently rapping, right at my heart's door.
'Tis a vision, I muttered, Only this, and nothing more.

Though no velvet violet lining, this handbag is quite shining, and twas real and in my price range, buy it now or nevermore.

MMenefee Inspired by, or blame to be placed on, @Litsy app updates. There was more, and appropriate punctuation, but I ran out of characters. 8y
