After nearly six months of searching, I have finally found a copy of Moxie that is not the movie cover. Plus, it‘s brand new and hardcover! I got so lucky!
I finished this book a last week and read this book of school. The book has a very strong message of equality and I liked it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I read this book for school and overall really enjoyed it, I liked the feminism and the ‘fighting against injustice‘ aspect of the book a lot. I think that it raises awareness about sexism and I recommend it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I finished this earlier in the week. It‘s a good read, a story of ‘normal‘ (stay-out-of-trouble, not politically active) girls empowering each other to stand up to the toxic, misogynistic culture of their school.
My one criticism, I suppose (as a non-parent, not involved in the school system) was that the culture described seemed a little over the top, almost unrealistic.
Then yesterday OFSTED (UKs inspectorate of schools) released a report into
What a super cute, coming of age novel. I‘ll be watching the movie this weekend, although that makes men‘s totes because I liked this book. Book #20 in 2021
Soooo good!!! This book was a real page turner. Vivian lives in a small town in Texas, population 6,000, and she is fed up with football team getting special treatment. She‘s fed up with the principal‘s son wearing gross T-shirts and having no consequences. She‘s sick of the bump ‘n‘ grab game the boys play. And she‘s sick of the random dress code checks. I loved every second of this book. Cant wait to watch the movie now! 5⭐️
This audio book was fantastic! I love reading a book about girl power and the characters being really sure of themselves. I enjoyed the main protagonist and the agenda she had set out to change the school setting and what females have to deal with due to the football team being all mighty and powerful. I love the message this book sent and females sticking together. Oh and excited to watch the Netflix show now!!!
I wasn't prepared for how much I really enjoyed this empowering page-turner. I'm always on board for a smart, well written YA novel about budding feminists fighting back against toxic rape culture. Gimme. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I thought it would have been more realistic if there had been some parental involvement in that high school horror show. (Also, some law enforcement would have been nice.)
Being a young adult librarian aide, I can‘t stress enough in how much we need these types of books, especially in the YA genre. Books that encourage girls/ women to find their voice, and take a stand against sexism and rape culture. Reminders that women CAN take up space, and your voice matters- It is powerful, and has the ability to make changes. This book is a CRUCIAL read that needs to be discussed in academia. 📚⬇️
Another audiobook—I think I‘m finally getting into listening to them! Book 3 finished for #MarvellousMarch 🎧 🌼
Power to the girls!
I loved this, I loved the movie and of course I got the book.
I need more books like this.

It was pretty good. I like the message of it and it was so easy to read this in 2 sittings.
Has anyone watched the Netflix film Moxie? I really loved it, and my inner teenage girl has a big crush on Seth. It gave me laughs and happy tears. Immediately moving the book up on my TBR.
Just started this today and I am already half way done. So far this has been very easy to fly through.
Girls sometimes have to deal with ridiculous dress code rules but boys can wear shirts that say that at a pep rally in front the pep rally?

Anybody else had a rough week? Moxie and I are realllyyy looking forward to a long weekend full of snuggles and good books 🐾
♀️✊🏼 I wish I had books like this to read when I was younger! Loved it.
This was just what I needed! A fun, quick read about a young girl finding her voice and girls coming together to support and encourage each other, all inspired by the 90s Riotgrrrrls.
#YearofReadingLitsy - thank you to @monalyisha for this gem!
#ReadwithMrBook - one word title @MrBook
After the emotional rawness of On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, I needed something fun and uplifting. So I'm starting on this one for my #YearofReadingLitsy. This was a gift from the one and only @monalyisha (and her Moxie) and I'm excited for some fierce riotgrrrl reading!
Bonus: it's also a #OneWordTitle for #ReadwithMrBook @MrBook
Littens are, by and large, a generous bunch! Over my years on Litsy, I've received quite a number of excellent reads thanks to this generosity. I've read many, but have equally as many that I haven't gotten to yet. So, as part two of my #YearofReadingLitsy challenge I resolve to read at least one book each month that I've received from an awesome Litten 👊
“Moxie” analyzes how adolescents create their voice and identities when small minds have power. The main character Vivian‘s voice—at first quietly, but louder as she evolves—emerges through her desire to confront the sexism at her school. Mathieu recognizes that change for individuals and a community is not always easy, but the first small steps are important. Read it for the female empowerment and the references to the 90s‘ Riot Grrrls!

Possibly one of the best parts of my job is Silent Reading. 15-20 minutes at the start of nearly every English class to read independently chosen books. I often get to read along with my students. Today I'm reading this. #teachersoflitsy
1. Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu
2. Rest, relax, and read!
3. Yes. I like eggs cooked any way, as long as the white is fully cooked.

I flew through this one! Overall, a really good book that teenagers will love. A nice intro to feminism for teens. It was, however, a bit cliched. I found the depiction of the teachers a bit annoying and unrealistic. I don‘t think anyone who works in education can really be that clueless. Well, not all of them at least!
This was a book about a group of kick ass girls who where sick and tired out the boys of the school getting away with touching them inappropriately and talking to them like they were nothing. Also the men that were administrators telling them basically to get over it. I loved that the stood up for themselves and in the end got the changes that they deserved. I can't wait to see the movie that I heard is being made based off of this book!
This book is really something special. It is something that I think should be on the must read YA list because it really makes feminism into something to be proud of and to fight for with cause. I really liked the way this was written because it was engaging while attacking serious issues and being objective. Loved this book.
Jody! I love everything! That bag is amazing and the personalized keychain- guess how many times in my life I have found my name (spelled correctly) on anything!! Zip, zero, nada!!! I wore the socks today, i already opened the chocolate, and I am excited to read the book! Thank you! Happy Valentines Day!!! 💚💚💚 #jb @JoScho
WE ARE MOXIE! I loved this feminist YA call-to-arms. So good!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This book is unquestionably a 5 ⭐️ pick! I am sure it will be a 2019 favorite. If you want to read an uplifting book about strong women who work together to fight systemic misogyny, this is the book for you. Julep says, “MOXIE GIRLS FIGHT BACK!” 👊🏼
Only 4 chapters in, but I am loving this book! It‘s exactly what I need after reading many, many thrillers. I can already tell this is going to be a 2019 favorite!
