And Prince Phillip took Queen Aurora Rose in his arms and kissed her, deeply and passionately, and she held him tightly, and they drew strength and love and support from each other.
And they did live happily ever after. . .
. . . if not, exactly, the way they had originally expected.

I enjoyed this book more than the first book. I have always like the story of Sleeping Beauty. It felt like the book was more fleshed out. I rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars. This is the sixth book completed for #RushAThon readathon hosted by @Andrew65

This Twisted Tale was an "also ran" for me. It was too long and could have had some tighter editing. I found myself skimming quickly through whole sections to find parts to read more slowly.

Gina's the best character - she stole the show - though Rapunzel is very likeable. Not a keeper for me but I will try some more Twisted Tales.

This was fun, I liked it a little better than the Jasmine story, really enjoyed the discussion around Aurora's mental health and depression that ran through the story

4✨ What is sleeping beauty never woke up? How about this twisted tale in her dream. There was a few details that seemed sudden and unnecessary, but overall this was a fun adventure.

This is my second offering for this month‘s #FairyTaleReadingChallenge. I really liked the premise of this Disney retelling, but the execution left something to be desired. There was a serious lack of editing. The beginning was really muddled and confusing and the middle meandered for way too long. I did like it more than the Maleficent film, but that‘s a really low bar. @Charityann

kspenmoll Katie. Apologies. I just responded to your email re poetry swap. I think the heat has addled my brain! So sorry! 3y

I have now read 2 books in this twisted tales series ( my other one being Straight on till Morning (Peter Pan)) and have come to realise that these are quite dark books for the target audience to be reading as especially in this book it explores the themes of mental health and death. In a way it might encourage conversation in kids about these issues.

Good. Love how this book plays with the concept of how dreams can become reality and you can't tell what is real and what is not. Also I think that even though this is aimed at kids I think that reading it as an adult who grew up with the classic Disney movies gives it more context. I also think that these books are probably more suited to an adult audience as it deals with heavier issues such as mental health.

#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #LittenListen @aperfectmjk #fairytalereadingchallenge @Charityann

My rating for this might have more to do with my dislike of Sleeping Beauty, although I do love Maleficent.

This story takes place inside a dream world while the princess sleeps. Things are very slow paced until the last few chapters when action finally starts happening.

TheAromaofBooks It's funny, I was literally just looking up these books this morning to add them to my TBR! 3y
Addison_Reads @TheAromaofBooks some I love, some have just been okay, but I think that mostly has to do with how much I like the original Disney story too. 😁 3y
aperfectmjk I actually received this book as a gift, and I've never gotten around to reading it, Sleeping Beauty has never been my favorite, and I've seen some mixed reviews, but I definitely want to check out some of the others in this series. 3y
TheAromaofBooks I can see that for sure. They all sound rather intriguing so I'm definitely going to give them a try!! 3y

It should be simple — a dragon defeated a slumbering princess in a castle, a prince poised to wake her. But when the prince falls asleep as his lips touch the fair maiden‘s it is clear that this fairytale is far from over. With a desperate fairy‘s last curse controlling her mind, princess Aurora must escape from a different castle of thorns and navigate a dangerously magical landscape— created from her very own dreams.

I'll have to give this one a 3.5/5 stars. I really did enjoy the play on a classic. I loved how the author poked fun at the classic. But I wasn't really rushing to the end. It was just kind of a meh story for me. The author made Aurora a dumb princess who always doubted herself and finally rise at the end. I wish she would have been an amazing heroine throughout the whole story. I actually was leaning toward liking the prince more than her.

Finally finished this book after a long reading slump. It was a great escape for me. It‘s a fun and creative alternate ending to my favorite Disney princess‘s story. I loved the world building and the fleshing out of Aurora‘s character. I enjoyed the darker themes of depression as well. I‘d love to revisit this book in the future and it got me excited for the rest of the twisted tales.

Quarantine is the perfect time to dip into TBR piles. I‘m picking Once Upon a Dream, a Sleeping Beauty retelling that I took a break from a few months ago. I love all things Sleeping Beauty and so far it acts as a great distraction for me!

Bit of a slow start but then it really sucked me in. Great to read a new take on a Disney classic. The growth of the characters was really well done. Looking forward to reading the other 2 I have from this author.

I have been wanting to read this series for a while. I loved the twist at the beginning of the story. I love how it shows more of who Aurora is as a person. And how her character grows as a person through the story. This was a fun read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I missed posting for #screamathonphotochallenge yesterday so here‘s another twofer. My favorite #costume was the Maleficent one, complete with horns, that @dsfisher made for me in my teens. In the animated film, the scariest part IMO, is when the fireplace #glows. I find myself yelling “No, Aurora! Don‘t follow the light!” 😆😆🤦🏻‍♀️

The Aladdin one was much better. I found myself skimming the last third of this one. It's way too long and I'm thinking maybe some stories just shouldn't be messed with.

StephanieMarie Uh oh this is on my tbr for this month. Hopefully I have better luck with it! 5y
Rachbb3 @StephanieMarie I got impatient with it and didn't like the characters much but everyone is different. I hope it's different for you. 😊 5y

Rats. Starting May on a DNF. I got 60-some pages in and just don‘t care at all. I flipped ahead to see if it picks up, and still don‘t care. Moving on.

Today‘s #labsoundtrack is getting me through a bad case of the Monday‘s. This is my third twisted tale - Sleeping Beauty was probably one of my least favorite Disney princesses so I hope this story improves my view of her.

I have been reading this entire series and this one was the hardest one to read. It was good and had a good ending but the middle was a little difficult for me

1. I prefer to qualify these, like the classic shorts are different from the classic feature lengths which are different from the Disney Renaissance which is different from Pixar... BUT if forced to choose one I go with Pinocchio.
2. Jiminy Cricket 🎩
3. Flounder, completely useless 🐠
4. Gus Gus 🐭
5. Elsa was originally a villain. I think most people know that though. Pretty busy day at work so can‘t come up with anything better.

SailorMoon Thanks for playing!!! 💕🌙 and for forcing yourself into choosing Pinocchio 🤣 5y

BethM They are coasters and are sealed with water tight sealant so you can use them :) there should have been a second book sent to your kindle as well. I‘m glad you liked everything! 5y

An adorable twist on the classic Sleeping Beauty full of fun, humour and charisma. A totally fun spin on what would happen if Maleficent wins. I really enjoyed this whole book and can't wait to read the others in this series. I wanted a bit more time with Maleficent herself rather than focusing as much on the protagonists. I loved the depths and realness that the author broke to Auroras character. Definitely great!

I was never a big fan of Sleeping Beauty. This reimagining/retelling is good though. I like the way Braswell changes the story and makes it so it‘s not the Prince‘s kiss that saves Aurora/Briar Rose. I like how she addresses some of the issues with the original Disney telling. This series of Twisted Tales are well worth the reads so far.
