pickThis book was written in the 60‘s and you can tell, but it was still a lot of fun.
pickGood fun. (Okay, a little questionable in language and a little predictable in plot, but still: fun!) It turns out reading about an anthropomorphized moustache is nearly as much fun as reading about a cat with uncanny if not supernatural abilities to communicate with humans and possibly solve crimes. I'm used to unlikeable reporter characters, it was nice to encounter an amiable cat lover instead. Will continue in series.

I love reading aloud to my cats ☺️. It could be I miss reading to kids or I‘m just trying to stimulate them intellectually 😉. This fabric is so adorable. I wish I saw it being used to make more things. The stickers are very cute too, however I almost wrote to the seller to say they‘d sell more if they lowered their shipping a wee bit.

3️⃣ Following one, but I love when an author publishes novellas/short stories from another character's POV. Or a retelling from another POV.
While at the library today after school with my daughter, we saw a table with bags of books. They are "old" books they remove and are Free to take!!!!

pickThis really is a cosy mystery. While i enjoyed the story it lacked a little something that I just cannot put my finger on. It was by no stretch a bad read but it was not great either.
pickThe idea of a murder mystery involving a cat seemed very charming. I was very fond of Koko (the cat) who was very charming. The rest of the characters were also a lot of fun, mainly consisting of eccentrics from the art scene in a small town. About half the book focused I setting the scene rather than they mystery but I didn‘t mind it. Would read more from this series.

The ending was a little disappointing but I enjoyed the book overall.
Started this last night 30 pages left. I love it! The pacing is great and the characters are both grounded and just over the top enough to make me smile. I am a huge Murder She Wrote fan and this feels like a cousin or older sister of those stories. ❤️

so-soHave to admit I was a bit disappointed. I kept wondering where the cat from the title was! He was introduced about 1/3 of the way in to the book. Then, his name (Kao Ko-K-something); sadly, when I want to shorten a long name like that, I tend to use initials – not so good in this instance. The main character, luckily, shortened it to Koko, but every time I saw the name written out entirely, my head went to KKK. Cont in comments...

🖌Definitely dated w/language that has sprinkles of sexism, misogyny, racism, & homophobia (a passing comment or two shared very sporadically).
🖌Cosy mystery that‘s comfy w/progression, plot, terse prose, & interesting premise.
🖌Cat had fancy intro I adored.
🖌MC & cat have a cute bond.
🖌Nostalgic as it was my 1st cosy back in junior high.
🖌Good for Autumn reading.

It‘s been a hard few days of grieving but I checked out some cozy mysteries with cats to cope. After I move I think I‘ll look into adopting another cat from the shelter!
Our old but new to us kitty, Hannah. My plan is to start calling her Hannah Montana, and then eventually drop the Hannah part. Our other cat is named Alabama (after a character in True Romance, not the state) so it could work.

so-soA cute mystery in the Christie vein (when the sum-up happens it happens quickly and the murderer is definitely unexpected). I liked Qwilleran and KoKo‘s interactions but those were a small part of the book. It is a slow read, the mystery doesn‘t kick in until halfway through, and it‘s very stuck in 1960s gender roles and descriptions of women (there‘s a female artist who is coded as lesbian and her name is Butchy...¯\_(ツ)_/¯).
#libraryhaul plus #newbook - I've never really read a "cozy mystery" (outside of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple) so I decided to try out a couple for a reading challenge task. I borrowed the Pollifax and Tea Shop books but none of the libraries had a copy of the first Cat Who book, so I bought that one.
pickThis book was very good, I finished it way quicker than I had wanted too!

Not far from my home, there used to be an awesome used bookstore, Starlight Books. My mother-in-law introduced me to them and I was hooked from the start! Sadly, they're no longer in business.
