Hugh was so disgusting that I bailed on this book. I hope he gets punished, but I still don‘t want to continue because I predict there will be more scenes of Hugh being a pervert, and its not worth my time.

The Summer Wives was a birthday gift from my aunt in 2022 and what a great gift!
✅ historical fiction
✅ Montagues and Capulets romance
✅ seaside summer home

This book is nsfw/ nsfm.Mom‘s library friend fucking lied to us about it being a good book. I am pissed at my mon‘s friend and I am getting a refund on this book. Hugh is an evil pervert and I refuse to finish this book, but I hope she gets revenge on him. It is extremely frustrating how many pornography “romance fiction” books I have had the misfortune to read. I‘m not finishing this. Don‘t buy this pornography book!
Time for my #JubilantJuly wrap up!
My goals were to:
✅ finish The Summer Wives = 122 pages
❌ read Quicksilver by Dean Koontz = 304/356 pages
❌ start Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather = 53/122 pages
🟰 479/600 pages
🦞 My favorite was The Summer Wives by far!

Very interesting story line and twists that are very believable. Great read.
This is my first time reading a novel by Beatriz Williams. I have come to love historical fiction novels in the past few years and her books have piqued my interest, so I decided it was time to give her a try. I absolutely loved The Summer Wives! This novel has so much depth and intrigue. I didn‘t want to stop listening as I wanted to know how all of the pieces to the puzzle fit, and I didn‘t want it to end.

Chemo treatment #2 reading. I really like this book so far, especially the three different timelines.
Not doing very well with my goal of reading books with #SummerintheTitle this summer. I‘ve only read one! Here‘s what‘s left for August. #summerreading
Finished my first Beatriz Williams book! I always forget how much I actually like historical fiction. I stayed up late last night to finish because I only had like 20 pages left and needed to see how the story ended.
I guessed the “secret” pretty early one. I don‘t know how much of a secret it was actually supposed to be though. I‘ll definitely read her again though.
Thanks for the book @BibliOHIOphile ! #LitsyLove
My August #bookspin #bookspinbingo. This book has a little bit of everything. It is historical fiction that takes place in 3 different decades, and has a decades old mystery involved. It is a great summer read, and I throughly enjoyed it.

A couple #BeatrizWilliams books I own as well as a bunch on kindle. #AugustAuthors @OriginalCyn620 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks today is your day!
Here are 10 #beatrizwilliams novels I‘ve read and enjoyed❣️Love her books💕

A bit slow but I finished it. I would read more from this author even though I didn‘t love this one. It did have a strong sense of place which I really like. Now on to #doublebookspin.
This is a quick historical fiction (set in 1930, 1951 and 1969) read with some romance and a mystery. Also my #doublespin for August.
#bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks
Trying to get a jump on #bookspin. It‘s a beautiful day today and I have a lot to do but I really don‘t care I‘m just going to read for a bit.
This one is a total #blameitonlitsy but even more specifically blame it on @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I never would have known about this author if not for you Misty. 😄
#bookspin #bookspinbingo
I bought the purple footrest at ikea, everyone who sees it asks me if I crocheted it! Lol, no! Maybe someday!
This is a fun summer read. It combines historical fiction and romance. If you're looking for something light, I definitely recommend this.
#summerfun "summer" in the title
#BookSpinBingo square 24
I enjoyed this more than I thought! It was a lazy, summer romance mixed with a bit of mystery. Some parts dragged a bit, but it was an enjoyable read for a hot Saturday afternoon. And I finally got my first #bookspinbingo which was one of my goals for #jubilantjuly !!
Hoping to start and finish this one today so I can get my first #bookspinbingo on the chart!! Anyone read and loved this?
😳 Imagine my surprise when I opened my copy of Beatriz Williams‘ The Summer Wives to find that not only was it an Advance Reader‘s Edition but also a signed copy!!
Nicely intersectionally (told during 1930, 1931, 1951 and 1969) written novel about a young girl who visits Winthrop Island for the summer due to her mother‘s impending marriage, meets a boy and falls in love. Tragedy occurs, she leaves and he‘s arrested. Drama ensues
This book sat atop by TBR for months last summer but I never seemed to grab it. Finally, with thanks to #BookSpinBonanza, its a done deal. ...It was slow going at first but then the whole summer wives thing took shape and it was fun to read the crooked path to its end. ...And then I googled Fishers Island NY. My Google history because of books would surely baffle investigators!
This was my first read in May and I very much enjoyed it. Also first time I have read a book of this writer. I will be trying to get my hands on some of her other books. Now that the libraries have reopened! #books
Finished my first book for May. This was my first book from Beatriz Williams, but it certainly won‘t be my last. This was a very enjoyable story, with different timeframes, and focuses on the decisions the characters make. There was a very good twist right at the end of the story. Recommended.
It may just be me, but I have lived in three different locations in England and don‘t think I have ever really heard the term smash used. The regular word I would use and hear people using is an accident.
If a privileged white community that summers on the coast while the less privileged brown community earns their keep year-round is your kind of story, read this. Also, really long. I found myself repeatedly going back to re-read a passage because I zoned out.
I circled back to this book. I first tried to read it a couple of years ago but then my world fell apart. Strange how I am able to finish it during a pandemic.
Beatriz really makes you work for a payoff. Her books start off soooooo slow. Always finish with a bang and tug on the ol‘heart strings.
Wasn‘t sure if this one the entire first half, but ended up hooked by the end. Only wish I could be on a beach right now with this beach read.
3.5/5 ⭐️
This is my review for an audiobook that I listened to on Scribd because Scribd has a 30 day free trial going on right now. I own a physical copy of this book but I decided to listen to it on audio instead.
I‘ll admit I bought this because I loved the cover. Starting the one today.
Next up - anyone read this? Thoughts?
11-16-19: My 94th finished book of 2019! My partners in crime couldn‘t hang😻 but I couldn‘t put this one down! #thesummerwives #beatrizwilliams 👍🏼📖#️⃣9️⃣4️⃣

🤦♀️I‘ve been looking for my copy of The Summer Wives for a while. My niece finally found it! She also has my copy of The Glass Ocean - it got wet. Ugh!
My first Beatriz Williams book! And I have to say, she‘s a good writer and has well developed storylines. Her historical accuracy is interesting and it doesn‘t dominate the storyline. This book reminds me of The Boston Girl, Susanna Kearsley, Sarah Addison Allen, Maeve Binchey, and Kate Morton.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Summer is for reading Summer Wives! Williams draws you into the story so gently, bewitchingly, and completely that time stops until it‘s hours later—you pop back into reality and realize you‘ve finished it in 1 sitting
A gift from the fabulous @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
