This book annoyed me. I remember @LauraBeth had similar feelings, so I should have listened to her. All the characters are so catty & about nothing interesting. Elinor is obsessed with a boy that is clearly manipulative and controlling, & it's not efficiently addressed anywhere in the novel. She's so defensive about everything, naive, & I just want to yell at her through the pages! I did appreciate the power dynamics at work which is too accurate.

Trying to read this book to distract myself from the worst pain I've ever experienced. The doctor says it's a ganglion cyst and I need to see a hand specialist, but not sure I'll make it to Monday's appointment. Also I'm so sorry to all the people who have sent me #LitsyLove and #jb mail to whom I haven't responded! I'm hoping I'll be able to use my hand again soon so I can respond to all the lovely notes!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unless you‘re in your early 20s and just entering into your post-college career, you can skip this one. It‘s a lot of “OMG!”, “LOL!” and “HAHAHA” dialogue as a young woman describes every little issue of office politics. It could be a breezy beach read for the summer.

LauraBeth @lea I‘m beginning to think it‘s a combination of both. I‘m too far removed from the station in life that these characters are in and the book probably isn‘t written for me anyway. 😀 7y

LauraBeth @Kaylamburson the dialogue is terrible. Most every sentence that is meant to be a statement ends in a question mark to emulate the tone. If you can sit through reading endless dialogue where statements end as questions, followed by, “like, really, you know, like, OMG! Hahahaha! Like working in an office is like really the worst?” 7y

Kaylamburson That‘s awful! I‘ll admit that I‘m guilty of my share of OMG‘s in texts and posts, but I don‘t think I‘ve verbally said it in forever. I‘m in my mid-20s so probably this “demographic” and I think that would come across as offensive. 7y

LauraBeth @Kaylamburson I completely understand it if it‘s shown as a text as opposed to dialogue. I didn‘t mention what I liked about the book. I did like the satirical send-up of current-day journalism (a la sites like Buzzfeed and other click-bait farms). That was interesting to me. It‘s akin to The Knockoff, but from the 20-something perspective as opposed to the 40-something perspective. 7y

LauraBeth @saresmoore it comes easier with time! I‘ve had to re-shift my spending priorities. The here and there Costco book purchase, the Kindle daily deals, the Barnes and Noble sales annex, the full-price splurge - it all adds up. I realized how much I LOVE calculating the small things to healthier gains - like a mile here and there, a 5k, the gym day, the banana instead of the chocolate - and wondered why I don‘t do the same with books and money? 💡 7y

saresmoore Yes! Tapping into that achiever strength is such a good strategy! I like to think I‘m preparing now for having plenty of money in the future. You know, stewardship. From the beginning, Bryan and I had the goal of never living above our most modest means so that every bonus, raise, etc. will add to our savings, not to our stuff. I‘ll let you know when we break through the “modest” level. 😆 7y

This book is hilarious. The people in this book are all self obsessed, terrible, horribly annoying people. I laughed out loud constantly. I would never want to be friends with any of these people. It‘s pretty much a book making fun of millennials so if you are one just be warned. I thought it was very funny. Trixie liked it too 🤣
