so-soI‘ve not seen the ballet or read any of the retellings, and I didn‘t really enjoy this original work. Not sure if it‘s lost in translation, I wasn‘t enchanted by the story or warmed up to the main character. It is said the Alexander Dumas retelling, which the ballet is based on, is less creepy.
so-soAnother one I wasn‘t too impressed with. I have so many memories of the movie versions of this story. However, I didn‘t get the same feel as I would watching an adaptation. Maybe I would have had a better appreciation if I read the book first when I was younger. Another one I will have to read again in the future.

pickNutcrackers are my absolute favorite thing about Christmas. I have always loved the tale of the Nutcracker, although I had only ever grown up having seen the ballet performances (I adore the ballet performance) and movies. The book is different from both of those versions but I still absolutely loved it. The Nutcracker will always hold a special place in my heart!
