I cant say that this book is one of my favourites, I loved the romance and the storyline, but I felt the characters were a bit flat and the plot had a few holes, however it was interesting and fun to read, its just the kind of book where you have to leave your brain outside the door.

Hmm, well, this was just okay. I enjoyed the WWI tie-ins at the top of the chapters, and the fact that it‘s a darker retelling of Peter Pan was cool, but it didn‘t really hold my attention. The storyline was written in what I guess would be considered first-person-present-tense? Not a huge fan. There were also some editing issues that really bugged me (see comment below). Anyway, I didn‘t hate it, but it definitely left me wanting more.

Love this! A Peter Pan retelling, but not any Neverland you had ever imagined. Adventure, mystery, and a roguish pirate to boot!

I really enjoy retellings, so I quite looked forward to this. I liked that everyone was a little shady, and that Gwen as the protagonist was super aware of this. She had great motivation and her focus on her goals was delightful. I think it would have been more meaningful overall though if she and Olivia got to spend more time together throughout the story. The story also seemed to lose momentum and become less satisfying as the end closed in.

This book has adventure, mystery, and a little romance mixed in. Is this book perfect? No. There are some chapters that felt rushed while others dragged on.
This story breathes new life into the fairy tale by reimagining the world of Neverland and putting a spin on the classic story.

I hear Lisa Maxwell speak a few weeks ago at a local book festival and her description of this book made me pick it up. It is what it says on the cover, a new look at neverland. But I found the action hard to follow and too quick. Some of the characters were well done, such as the captain. Others, like the main girls, were not developed.

I'm currently on a Peter Pan/Neverland kick. If anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them! I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and a completely different take on some of the characters I thought I knew so well. I do wish the characters had been a bit more developed as in some ways I found them lacking. The concept of this story is intriguing and does pull one in, however for the reader it would have been better fleshed out a bit more. The story seemed rushed with an all too quick and ubrupt ending. I could see where the author was going and wished it had more substance. This could have worked out to a longer book or two novels. Still worth a read.

I'm going to agree with others that the characters weren't overly developed and the story seemed rushed. It felt a bit like I was dropped into the middle of the story. The book came out of NaNoWriMo so that could explain some of this. However, it's an interesting take on the Peter Pan mythology and Hook's story is compelling. It's a quick read and if you're a Neverland fan this book may be for you.

Dark retelling of Peter Pan with an incredibly naive, annoying main character, other undeveloped characters, instalove, and predictable story. The saving grace was Hook. I would recommend giving it a chance if you're a Peter Pan fan wanting a quick read, but don't go into it expecting too much.
