Faranae The little free libraries have a noble intention, but they do tend to appear only in already well-served communities. This is probably at least in part because the non-profit costs quite a bit to officially link with, and they police their over-broad trademark rather aggressively... 3mo

I made a hard choice this past month and I took a leave of absence from my job starting today. It‘s been a rough school year and I have the time to do it. There were tears and I‘ll miss it, but it‘s time to heal from all that has happened. I‘ll be using my time to read and catch up on my #litsylove letters and my other challenges.

#LittensDressedInBlood #Day4 The top pictures are of my local library which is a modern glass box which I‘m not a fan of. I much prefer our State Library of NSW in Sydney(bottom left)which dates back to 1826 & is the oldest library in Australia. It has a huge reading room with galleried shelves & many smaller rooms housing historical records & artifacts. Bottom right is my own home library, pre covid, before it became my overfull lockdown cave😋

I have been in a slump for some months now, both with reading and with Litsy, but I have decided to make August the month where I get my literary groove back! I often tell my clients, that to change your mindset, you have to change your behaviour, so now I‘m going to practice what I preach 😅

I took a trip to my library today and bought home a big stack of books to help kick start my reading again, and I plan on reading a little bit everyday 🤞

MicheleinPhilly Nice to “see” you again. I‘ve been struggling more than a little with my reading this year and have just accepted that it is what it is. If my brain can only handle tv, so be it. It comes back in fits and starts so when it does I lean into it and enjoy it but I don‘t beat myself up anymore when it goes away. 😘 4y

I have missed it, but it just felt like too big a “task” to do, when I didn‘t even read. So it kept reminding me that things weren‘t “normal”, if that makes any sense. Hopefully, I can find some positive energy from this community again, because I have missed it!❤️ 4y

Kalalalatja @MicheleinPhilly I totally get what you mean, I‘m trying not to beat myself up too much. And I have watched so many great things on tv 😄 it is more that I really miss being able to disappear into a great book, which I just haven‘t been able to do. Maybe I just haven‘t hit the right book, maybe it‘s timing. Whatever it is, I‘m just rolling with it, but I need to get a bit into the reading habit again for my mental health‘s sake 4y

Kalalalatja @monalyisha exactly! But we went back to work pretty early here in Denmark, so I don‘t have a lot of time in my day for reading. But my mind has just been elsewhere, too. It is hard focusing right now! 4y

My state's library association sold license plate decals as a fundraiser at our last conference. Instead of the association's logo for the decal, we chose the sign you see in towns that direct people to the library. My plates were finally up for renewal, so I ordered the decal plates. I just went and got my car washed and put the new plates on. 😁

Sharing library cards with friends is, in fact, the best. My own library has a terrible selection of audiobooks. I have an audible subscription, but that‘s 1 per month. I listen to 8-10 a month, and I can‘t afford that many! Yay for friends coming to the rescue.

And since I am not a fan of the current administration, I pretend in my head that all of my taxes pay for libraries. 😝

This is a dream library/booknook space for me; a top favorite 💜💚❤️. I love that each shelf has light within and it all segues into a second area with a fireplace, comfy furniture and I love the wall color too.
