I got an itch to reread this one and it was just as lovely as I remembered 💞

This morning I made brown butter cupcakes and finished I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST. The book‘s been on my library list for ages, but I always passed it over because I‘ve got such a low tolerance for American high school stories. Big mistake; Ben‘s not especially invested in the high school experience, so Deaver bypasses all the tropes that bug me. What they DO deliver is one hell of a solid emotional arc. I loved it. #audiobaking

This book felt painfully true to the coming out experience that so many teenagers face. And the pain and anxiety the main character feels about how to come out to their friends after being rejected by their parents was handled with care and honesty.
#TransRightsReadathon Book 4
Wow y'all. This was such a moving story. Ben comes out to their parents as nonbinary and is immediately kicked out of the house. Ben moves in with their estranged sister & transfers schools but doesn't want to come out again outside of their household. This really delved deep into some hard topics of gender, toxic relationships, & mental health. I think a lot of young queer kids will really identify with the characters
I wanted to read this for the #transrightsreadathon but my hold time was still a month's wait so I didn't think it would be possible. But just got this notification and it's ready early! Considering I've been devouring another book by this author today, I'm even more excited to read it now 🤩
Insofar as struggling for personal and familial acceptance is never easy, and starts out particularly rough in this case, there's a lot here that's treated gently, carefully, and I really appreciate it. Found family is key, love interest is wonderful, therapy on page was comforting. I can't say Ben's experience echoes mine because we came to certain truths at different times in our lives, but I think it's a beautiful piece of my own puzzle.
This arrived today from the fund raiser Mason ran in Devember and I'm so excited. I forgot this was coming and it was such a treat to find in the mailbox today! #BookishTreasure
Loved this book. It was an emotional roller coaster. I loved that the author was able to make me laugh one paragraph, and make me want to scream with frustration at the idiotic characters in this book.
I'm so excited to read this short holiday story! Mason Deaver used (or is using?) It to raise money for The Center for Trasngender Equality.

An excellent book about a non-binary teenager's experiences, written by a non-binary author. This book is a lovely exploration of teen love, art appreciation, mental health, and being non-binary. I thought it was a sweet and satisfying story. Content warnings for family abandonment, one instance of familial violence, and descriptions of panic attacks. #lgbtq #lgbtqauthors #nonbinary #YAliterature #ownvoices #mentalhealth
My new succulent bucket keeps me company while I listen to my audiobook out on the patio. #pridebook

June #ReadingwithMaja prompt=YA fiction. Ben decided to come out as a nonbinary person. They didn't receive the support from whom they expected but there were plenty of other persons that supported, loved and respected them unconditionally. I was expecting more at the end of the story but it was my expectation and not necessarily author's intention. I will rate the novel for its message. Love it specially in this time. Cute romance.3.9⭐️ @maich
This book made me realise how ignorant I was about people and their various sexual orientations. My knowledge was limited to heterosexual, gay, lesbian and bisexual. But there's a whole other world out there, who use specific pronouns for themselves.
This book here is about a non binary teenager who's decision to come out led to them being kicked out of their own home which however led to reconciliation with their estranged sister of 10 years :)
Finally got to reading this and through it real fast. I was getting worried it'd be another stock high school/coming out story and it obviously it was in a way, but also had enough in its own right to be a really beautiful read. Plus, nonbinary rep AND #ownvoices is something I've been needing for a while.

A debut novel by a queer author: non-binary protag by a non-binary author! #readharder2020 #quarantinereading
I wanted to like this book about a non-binary kid coming out to their parents so much but it felt like nothing was happening and it was moving too slowly for me to stick with it.
The beginning was painful and helped me see what a family may experience when a child comes out but the rest fell apart and I couldn‘t stick with it.
A story about being non-binary in high school. Finding yourself. And finding a relationship. I liked the book but it was definitely not made for me.
A great YA book about healing from trauma and the importance of friendship and finding a place where you belong. But more than that, it‘s an important book for those who identify as nonbinary and for those who want to understand what that means. Recommend!

[#BookReview] I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver. This book is the first time I‘ve read a story where the main character was non-binary! I think it‘s a great book to pick up to learn more about enby experiences and for any enby readers wanting to see their identity in a book. It‘s a great debut and I cannot wait to see what Deaver writes next!

💜💜💜💜💜 Loved this book about Ben, a non-binary high school senior who gets kicked out by their parents and has to start over at a new school. I was totally absorbed in the story and wanted to see how everything turned out for them, including with their new friends at school, their sister, their art, their anxiety, their plans for the future, their romantic interest, etc. I think the author did a great job and I recommend the book!

A quiet, contemporary #ownvoices YA novel set in the American South with a likeable #nonbinary main character dealing with very hard things. The foremost of these is being kicked out of his home, the second is mental health issues. The #audiobook is narrated in the appealing voice of MW Wilson, who doesn‘t overdramatize the angst. LGBTQ
The “Be who you are” Dr Seuss quote I spied while having supper in a café/liquor store/clothing & gifts shop in Field, BC is apt for the tagged audiobook that I was listening to at the time.
When Ben comes out to their parents as nonbinary, they are kicked out of the house. With nowhere else to go, Ben turns to their estranged sister for help. While the writing in this book is that of a debut author (there is definitely room for improvement), the book is a solid addition to the library. A quick read which has an important story to tell.
Spending this “excessive heat warning” ⚠️ day in bed 🛌 with air conditioning 💨 and an audiobook. 🎧
I wanted to love this one but it felt like a lot was cut out. Like, a LOT.
Really disappointed in this. Loved how it was accurate about the trauma of coming out. Not so much that it got what being Asexual and Bisexual completely wrong. Or the fact the character was their trauma and not anything past that.
my slowest read of the summer but that‘s just because I‘m enjoying the sun and living in a beach town ☀️
good lunch and a good book.

this book is and will be so important for people who identify as nonbinary.

Scrolling through my kindle app and there are just SO MANY queer YA books this year. I decided just to pick one at random for today‘s reading, and ended up choosing this.
This book is going to be important to so many people who identity as nonbinary. It is going to let them know that they are not alone as well as educate people who don't know a lot about this. This includes me. This book was heartbreaking. My heart broke for Ben and everything they had to deal with. They found a support group who showed them that it is okay to be who they really are!
1. Tagged book is my current read.
2. My last completed LGBTQ book was Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian and it was AMAZING. But my current book is also a LGBTQ book. It is also really good and heartbreaking.
3. Going to watch my nephew play baseball and hopefully lots of reading!

Today was teacher in service day at the school I teach at so we could get our classrooms ready for summer camp that starts Monday. We could go in early, which means we could get off early. Means extra reading time and cuddles with my girl!
I loved this book. Listened to the #audiobook via #scribd for the #queerlitreadathon. Ben is non-binary, and when they come out to their parents in their senior year of high school, their parents kick them out. They then have to navigate their path to graduation as well as becoming comfortable in their own skin. Written by a non-binary author. Great writing, compulsive story, and I learned a lot
⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
I Wish You All the Best is an ambitious and personal exploration into a person dealing with many important issues, including gender identity, anxiety, depression, coming out, and nonbinary definition. It‘s a lot to take on in one book and while at times I felt the narrative was stilted, I respect and appreciate the ambition of such an undertaking.
#Scribd #audiobook TBR for the #queerlitreadathon #queerlit
I am not sure that I will be completing a bingo on the board, but am just using this readathon to read more queer lit, since it's not a subgenre I read often.especially since it coincides with the start of pride month!
I will also be posting a digital TBR and physical TBR. *I'm not going to be able to read all of these - just giving myself options between what I own/library loans/scribd
Had a big day today! Even though I graduated in December, I walked in the grad ceremony today! When I got home, I did week 3, workout 1, of Zombies, Run! 5K training and did about 30 minutes of yoga. #BFC
Had a busy couple of days, so here‘s Saturday‘s #BFC checkin! Finished “The Life and Lies of Rukhsana Ali” and started the tagged book. Did some stretchy yoga after spending most of the day packing and getting the house ready to put on the market (with a lovely midday break to see some friends).
