So, my 86 yo mom is not a huge reader…mostly the Bible and magazines/newspapers.

I want to see if I can get her interested in some cozy mysteries…but I‘m not really very familiar with them as they‘re not a favorite genre for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Any suggestions as to a good cozy book/series to start with?

Yeah, I‘m bailing on this. It probably has some useful points about how we make our spaces and our minds “cozy” to be comfortable in our worlds. But the tone of this book has set me on edge from the first page in a way I can‘t quite put my finger on, and 40 pages in I don‘t foresee that changing. Cutting my losses and moving on.

I was so excited for this book that I found at the library, but it was quite a disappointment. Overall it just felt like a rambling list of things the author felt were cozy and her humble bragging about her life. And I‘m so sad that I didn‘t like it now that I realized the author played Stabler‘s wife in Law and Order: SVU. 2⭐️

My #cozyswap package is here! In all the hurricane craziness recently, I‘d forgotten about it. Now to obsess until opening day😄

In the middle of pre-hurricane errands, I stopped at the post office to mail my #cozyswap package. Forgot to take a picture of the box, but I have my receipt to track it to a part of the country not threatened by Dorian.

I didn‘t want to let #cozyswap get away from me. Deadlines have a way of sneaking up on me 😎 Anyway, my shopping is done and everything is wrapped, although I‘ve proved once again that I failed gift wrap 101! Probably won‘t be able to get to the post office until next week, but then it will be off in plenty of time - I hope 🤞

2. Either? I‘ve actually not read Poirot or Marple- but I love Midsummer Murders and I wonder if they are similar to those characters/detectives?
3. Nancy Drew? Clearly, I‘m a newbie ready to jump into the genre!

I did some shopping this morning for my #cozyswap package. It‘s hard to think about fall in South Florida when it‘s 92 degrees and the heat index is 104😄 I had lots of fun, though, and I resisted temptation: no books for me! I got these instead.

1. More modern, maybe because I‘ve read more of those.
2. Poirot, although I guess I never thought of him as “cozy.”
3. Lord Peter. I think I‘ve read all of the Sayers books.
4. I‘m an earring and pendant person but am really particular about earrings because they must be light.
5. Red, but any deep, vibrant shade.

Last two additions for #cozyinthsun. Accidental Werewolf had a few laughs but was just ok. Murder Plain and Simple was slow, the only good thing was the neurotic French bulldog😁 Both were 🌟🌟
