#Two4Tuesday
❄️🏝I will love to spend again some days in a comfy place admiring the snow with a hot drink and a good book, But in this part of the world, what I like of winter is that weather is less hot. Love to be at home in pj, with a hot drink and a good book. Perfect to run like today, at 4:00 am it was fresh with breeze.
❄️🏝Narnia world during Christmas, North Pole. Maybe a small village like those cozy stories

Thank you @TheSpineView 🥰

This is a simple, expected, cheesy retelling with a little predictable twist. But I took out my inner child and I enjoyed it very much. I felt that I was watching a Disney performance☺️ I needed something light after literary fiction and mystery reads. The narrator performance was fantastic specially with the witch character. 3/3.5⭐️

It is like a cozy mystery. A murder occurred in a small town. Victim was surrounded by many scandals and rumors. A secret that everyone knows but no one said. due to religion power? I didn‘t know this is the 2nd book of inspector St. John Stratford Mystery. The end was okay everything was abruptly/convenient resolved. You will see controversies between Catholics and Protestants, the story is developed in Ireland. 3⭐️I want to read the first book.

The Painted Drum: A Novel | Louise Erdrich

I really liked this story. A slow pace read, character driven with stories within the story. Some expressions were beautiful. Faye‘s mother is half Indian. They are very close and they have a business to sell antique articles. She discovered this painted drum which apparently has healing powers. The story is around the history of this drum, secrets will be revealed. The story is so much full of traditions, beliefs. Apparently is part of a series⬇️

Gissy I don‘t know if this one is going to work for some readers but definitely worked for me. I want to read more about this culture and I will try the first book in the series 4/4.5⭐️

I liked this book but didn‘t love it. I liked the characters, the different stories but it was difficult for me to see the story integrated, as a whole. I saw some parts like forced maybe because the author wanted to mention something about the pandemic situation? I don‘t know, maybe it was me. I was expecting more. But I really enjoyed those passages related with American Indian traditions, beliefs. I took my time to seek more information.

Gissy I liked this UK edition 3.75⭐️

Late reading for #LittensLoveRomance book arrived super late (December 2022 book) @Staycurious
I didn‘t like much the story, neither the ending. But I liked Nolan, his family story and how he supported them. Also, how he respected Bee‘s work. Few funny scenes. 1.5/2⭐️it didn‘t work for me but I loved this cover.

Read at the beginning of January. I liked this type of stories where characters review their lives and try to amend, or find answer to those inner questions to be in peace with themselves. This story is something like that. I found Kirsten a little bit selfish, convenient at the beginning but then you can understand her. All these characters are dealing with different types of grief. Their stories will be connected. So pretty 4/4.5⭐️

Read at the beginning of this month. This book was like a tv soap opera. A lot of drama with many family secrets, everyone deceived someone😳and everything was connected. I liked Guillermo character, a sculpture so intense in his emotions. I think the ending was a little too convenient, cheesy. Noah was lucky at the end (no spoiler🤷🏽‍♀️) but Noah‘s anguish was so sad. That scene with his dad😢Oscar just made me laugh☺️ 3.5/3.8⭐️

Read during first days of this month. For me, this is my favorite book in this trilogy but I think is because I liked the dynamic between Persephone, Calla and Maura. There is something sad that happened in this book😢I saw in this book more action. As a YA fantasy it was good 3.8⭐️

Interesting and full of action. It is a short book and in two scenes I found them abrupt or needed more explanation but I‘m not the best audience for middle grade book. It was organized in topic so it could be easy to read for young readers. I liked Vernestra and Imri powers. That ending was so interesting and the Avon‘s comment about her mother. So lovely the sense of loyalty in friendship and in Jedi‘s duties. Beautiful illustrations. 3/3.5⭐️

After an accident the Professor can only retained intact memory of what happened before the accident. His memory for new events only last 80 minutes. He used to attach notes to his clothing to remember new events the next day. His world is around maths and baseball, two fields that are not my strength but with this story you want to know to be part of that communication between the Professor, the housekeeper and Root. What a beautiful story⬇️

Gissy It is a relationship based on love, respect and caring. Beautifully written, I could imagine every place mentioned and I felt that I could smell the food. So short, so powerful. 4/4.5⭐️

This is my third book read by this author and I love her writing style. I need to read Hotel Iris,

Gissy @BookNAround @BarbaraBB Yes! Really lovely and that ending was so tender😢I worked for a short period of time in some homes for elderly persons, working with patients and families. It is so important to visit them, to take care of them. I admire how the housekeeper took care of the professor and how much she respected him. Lovely. I need to order Hotel Iris but I will buy through Bookdepository. 1mo

Due to their constant support, I haven‘t stop perusing dreams, goals. Thank you friends, Litsy community. Thank you life to allow me share these wonderful experiences.
There is a beautiful song dedicated to friends, “A Mis Amigos” “To My friends” an old song but power of words are timeless.

Gissy That translation was taken from goggle.

Unpopular opinion. Everybody seems to love this book so don‘t read my review☺️Two persons were together for less than 24 hrs and fell deeply in love. One was suffering for this love😳Something happened and during those encounters you will see a lot of cheating and drama. Main character can be annoying. The ending made me think if that relationship is healthy. They play this “honesty game” were words can be so hard. Not for me please.Good things:⬇️

Gissy I liked the unconditional friendship and support Ellie received from Meredith and even by Ari. Representation of demisexual, non-binary and lesbian. I liked also how Jack‘s family supported her. I liked how the author included how to ask the pronouns the person wants to be called. However, I read some comments indicating that the author has misinformation of what is a demisexual person. The cover is so pretty. Read the book mine is unpopular 3⭐️ 1mo

AbigailJaneBlog Yess I also liked the friendship and support but not the romance so much. I am demisexual and some of the parts were good but the obsessive part made me feel a bit icky. Can't wait for discussion this week! 1mo

Different stories but all of them connected in a very dark, creepy sinister way. I like this author‘s writing style, so psychological, love how she describes the characters and the plot. The psychological dynamic of these characters is so terrible but interesting. I really liked it. This book gave me a vibe of another author I like very much Kanae Minato. 4.5/5⭐️

Pickpick

If you don‘t want your Christmas to be a “humbug” then read this short story, so appropriate for this time of the year. However, there are some sexist comments🙁Besides that (I‘m going to try to put that aside) the story was splendid. I read it in conjunction with an audio and it was perfect. I will like to read the other writings that appear in this edition next year or maybe buy another pretty edition, I‘m a book collector🙋🏽‍♀️😜 4⭐️

Gissy This edition has notes explaining some phrases which were very helpful. Also it has some illustrations. In few pages the author is so well descriptive about the time, the festivities and characters. A stamp of that era. There are some movie adaptations that followed so well the story but I also like those funny movie adaptations.

Book 9
This was not a good thriller. It could be written in only 200 pages instead of 300, maybe less. So predictable from the beginning. That ending was so abrupt. I‘m telling you can know who was the responsible from the beginning of the story🙄2⭐️Not much success in my reading this month😬

Unpopular opinion. Love Edina and the importance to respect, help our older people. I enjoy the daily life in this small village, so beautifully described but the romance was not what I expected, I couldn‘t stand Jack, a little controller, arrogant, pretty boring in his “romantic”approaches🙄I know I‘m Grinch💚Belle was so naive almost unreal😳The funny parts were with the children, “my mam said I can be anything, are you sure Joseph was a lad?🤣⬇️

Gissy I read this book in conjunction with the audio which I loved it because I really like to listen those accents. It‘s like I‘m there with the characters is part of the culture and country/region identity. 3⭐️

TheAromaofBooks I haven't read this one yet, but I'll approach with caution 😂 My favorite Christmas book so far this year has been the tagged on by Sarah Morgan. I really like her Christmas books a lot. 1mo
Gissy @TheAromaofBooks Yes, read it because it has so many cute parts. I really love Edina character and the small village daily life...and the children expressions. It was Jack who I couldn‘t stand so I didn‘t enjoy the romance so much but mine is an unpopular opinion, most people love this book. 1mo

This was a good thriller, at least I enjoyed it but it is so violent. It has triggers some of them more graphic, kidnapping, violent death, intention to commit minor sexual abuse. It was good, one of those that put you at the edge of your seat😳Unexpected/confused ending at least for me. But then I read some reviews and understood it.

5th book read this month
Well, this one has some cute scenes very few scenes were funny and so repetitive about what was happening between them. Acting like teenagers but they are in their almost 30‘s? Another boring romance for me even in the “sexy” parts😳🤷🏽‍♀️But a friend read the second book and said it was cute. I will try it because I like Merry character. I liked Nick‘s mother, what a character. There is a long nice songs list at the end

Gissy 3⭐️
#BookSpinBingo You were right @TheAromaOfBooks a lot of unnecessary drama.

#WinterReadathon @Andrew65

Thank you @mabell for the book. This one was from last year. I need to work in my book wish list and choose better those romances🤣🤣🤣. But I needed to read this book to continue with the sequel and the cover is so pretty! I love it. I also like the song list the author put at the end of the book. Splendid!

Andrew65 This was my least favourite ones of the three books. Agree about the ‘sexy‘ parts. They were not needed. Well done on finishing it. 🎄🎄🎄 1mo

Gissy @mabell Yes! It is a good resource to find songs plus I want to read book 2 which means I need the series. I keep the whole series even when I don‘t like much one of the books in the series, they are like book family members🤣I‘m also a sucker for pretty covers🤷🏽‍♀️. 4th book read in December (GR closed but I‘m still reading this year and for me, those books counts). I don‘t know if I‘m going to continue this series. Does anyone read it? What do you think? Published in 1991, interesting mystery but you will find stereotyped women roles, work place sexual harassment, animal cruelty in one scene. Big concern is how she was treated as as a woman. I don‘t know if that issue is resolved in the other books. 2.5⭐️

Andrew65 Well done. 🎄🎄🎄This isn‘t a series I know. 1mo

Read4life I actually just bailed on a book in this series. Similar issues to what you stated plus the negative comments about overweight characters. It was the 3rd or 4th book in the series that bothered me. There are too many good mysteries and series out there for me to keep reading a series that annoys me. 1mo
Gissy @Read4life Thank you! You convinced me. It seems that the author continues with pejorative comments. 😠 1mo

Sad but beautiful novel. Well written in epistolary form where you follow these characters during the war and 50 years after the war. It took me time to read it because it motivated me to seek information about WWI. I even watched a video about Battle of the Somme. What a tragedy. It was hard to read it, about the soldiers, their PTSD which is called now, the family losts, the grief, how life change during these events. Sad😢 but beautiful 4/4.5⭐️
