It‘s that time again! April is just around the corner, and with that brings the 2nd annual #ThingsinCommon challenge. As it states above, you‘re simply choosing your next read based on it having ANY similarity with the previous book. You could make this as broad or specific as you like. This challenge really helped me to looks at my shelves,& I found I read way more from my personal collection than impulse downloads from the library.

I managed to connect 26 books to completer a FULL circle!!! I was able to knock off lots of “older” books from my TBR & some ARCs too!! While I enjoyed the challenge, I‘m ready to go back to less rigid reading choices.

After experiencing the incredible mind of Amos Decker who has an infallible memory, I moved on to Genealogy about a discovery of a batch of love letters from the past - memories. #ThingsInCommon This is fun!

Is anyone else shocked that today marks the end of the first 1/4 of 2022?! I can‘t believe how fast the year is going by!

Along with the end of March, comes the start of the #ThingsinCommon #readingchallenge which runs all throughout March! Which book will you be starting off the challenge with? Is it a book you didn‘t finish in March, or are you starting the month fresh?

I couldn‘t wait to make a #bulletjournal spread for the #ThingsInCommon reading challenge, even though it doesn‘t start until April! I immediately envisioned a game board style spread, so I went with it. The purple boxes will hold the book covers, and inside the blue boxes, I‘ll write the linking similarity… in this example “blue covers”.

Yasmin is a lonely, fat, outcast teen who has never gotten over her father‘s death when she was nine. She tends to form unhealthy attachments to people, obsessions really, and is currently obsessed with beautiful Alice. The book description is for a thriller, and there are components, but this is really a character study of a disturbed young woman. It‘s creepy but drags in places and the ending is unsatisfying. Low pick.

My reaction to this book was: WTF did I just read?! It's worth the time. The writing style was something I had to get past initially. But that is because it was written from the point of view of a teenager, so the style reflects the voice of the main character. None of the characters are particularly likeable... But that doesn't make it a bad read.

Couldn't put it down. Quick read cause you just can't stop. Read it in two days. You're kind of cringing but feel like you can't look away the whole time. Right from the beginning.

This was definitely YA. Yasmin is a teen who's just a little obsessed with Alice. Yasmin lost her father recently, and now she has issues with food and is bullied. Alice is your typical English Rose and popular. Yasmin sees a man watching Alice when they are at school. When Alice goes missing Yasmin sets out to befriend this man & becomes obsessed with him.

I didn't find the ending very satisfactory. Lots of unanswered questions.

Things we have in common - bit of an odd story about teen obsession. This reads as a YA which is a genre I don't read a lot, but this is readable. #netgalley #justgettingroundtoreadingit

I'm 100 pages in and just don't care- about the characters or the plot. This sounded good, but I just can't get in to it.

My book club is reading Things We Have in Common this month. I know not a single thing about this book. Hope it's good!

#TBRtemptation post! This is a coming-of-age thriller. Yasmin is a 15-year-old overweight outsider whose father died & mother remarried. She only has 2 comforts, food & Alice. She's obsessed with Alice. And then she notices a guy who keeps watching Alice too, all the time. She figures he wants to abduct Alice, in which case she'll be Alice's hero by providing the lead that finds her. Then Alice really does go missing. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Yasmin thinks a man is watching Alice and is going to kidnap her. She plans on being the one to rescue Alice. She begins to investigate the man and finds some connections with him. So when Alice does go missing, Yasmin has to make some choices. Definitely YA. #LitsyAtoZ #LetterT @BookishMarginalia

Review copy: A dark YA novel from the UK with an obsessive loner protagonist that I still empathized with! Nicely done. I had to read to the ending, which I won't spoil but warrants some discussions if you've reached it! #costa

So I know something bad is going to happen. (I try now to read blurbs or reviews right before I pick the book off my #TBR shelf. Yes, I picked them because I either like the author or I've heard good things about the book) Anyway, avoiding the bad. 😣

Started this one. It was a #Goodreads giveaway. So far it's definitely YA.

Read a killer review of this and since I had a crap day, my book and I are cuddling in bed early tonight.

I've been racing through this book like a hot knife through butter (but have to keep putting it down due to ferrying kids about for early dismissals and delayed openings! 😫). I can't wait to see how this resolves itself. If this is an indicator of YA fiction this year, I'm all in for 2017.
