There is also a lot of world building in these initial chapters. The story opens with Darius revealing to Wrath he has a half breed daughter. Darius asks Wrath to see her through her transition. Not only is Wrath the king of the race but the only full bloodied vampire alive.

pickAfter reading Darius, I wanted to revisit the first book in the series to reacquaint myself with all the characters so I can finish the series. I have read as far as book 17. Enjoyed this just as much as the first time. Looking forward to TV series/movie. I read that filming starts this year. 5⭐️

pickSo I saw this book recommended for Vampire books. I knew nothing about it and it‘s kinda old. I also hate the cover. But I was hooked!! At first I didn‘t think the MC was going to be the male love interest, I don‘t know why. I loved all the characters and side characters. The second book doesn‘t have the best reviews, but I plan to read these when I need some quick reads! Though, it seems like the rest might be darker.
pickHow on earth is it possible to love something so much when it is so cheesy?? If you‘d read this series, you know what I‘m talking about! I adore these characters so much, even though they‘re much too macho and crass to be adorable. The world is fascinating with its vampire mythology and hierarchy. When I started rereading a couple of days ago, I knew I‘d enjoy the trip back to Caldwell, NY. But I didn‘t realize I‘d be THIS obsessed all over again.
Started this reread 24 hours ago when Hurricane Ian was coming, but not here yet. Right now, it‘s pouring rain outside and my shutters are making a lot of noise. I‘m settled in with Dark Lover, which I haven‘t read in years. Within two pages, I was right back in this world. I had forgotten how F-U-N these books are with all of the leather, the made-up words, and the shitkickers. I read this previously in 2011 and again in 2013. Still love it.

pickI didn‘t intend to finish this tonight, but I forgot to charge my watch before bed, so obviously I had to just keep listening. I‘d forgotten how much mythology and history was built into this series from the very beginning. I can honestly say that I fell in love with the Black Dagger Brotherhood all over again while reading this book. I can‘t wait to continue.

Started this last night/early this morning. This is a reread for me. I forgot how enthralling this book/series was. I‘ve been away for more than a decade. Back then there weren‘t audiobooks (and no one would have been able to afford them if they had). I have to say, of the 3 covers I‘ve seen for this book, all 3 would have been better than what they did with the audiobook. The audiobook cover is truly hideous. Why? I‘m just so curious as to why.

pickI decided to re-read this book because I liked it so much the first time. Supernatural romance at its finest. Not for the faint of heart - it‘s pretty racy. A brotherhood of warrior vampires must defend their race. Each book in the series introduces you to a brother and tells his story. Language and sex abound. This one is about Wrath, the reluctant Blind King. So good. Not scary, but if you like Anita Blake it might be for you.

I'm taking another shot at a "classic" paranormal romance for Fated Mates and now, in the first 10 minutes, I'm figuring out another reason I'm not drawn to them - there's a certain ugliness to a lot of mid-aughts fiction that puts me off. It's much easier to see in a movie, but all the leather and offhand mentions of screaming rap evokes it too. Not really for me! We'll see if I make it 13.5 hours...

I tried reading this book in July of 2017 and hated it. I even dnfed it and with knowing Sarah J. Maas and Jennifer L. Armentrout loving JR Ward, I decided let‘s give this series another try, but on audio. This time I actually enjoyed it. The instant love got to me again and I wasn‘t a huge fan of it, but the love story ended up being good. I had a little hard time getting into the writing.
