It took a long time to finish this. I wouldn‘t consider it a bad read, just boring at parts that were crucial to the continuation of the plot. The beginning and ending were the roughest parts. It was hard to feel for the characters and I honestly didn‘t care about them. I ended up reading it just to finish it. If I had been younger then I may have enjoyed it, but the book never really sparked any intrigue in me.

This is by one of my favorite authors: Amie Kaufman. I could definitely identify her writing style. Kaufman just blew me away. If you are a fan of Across the Universe by Beth Revis, you will enjoy this journey with Tarver and Lilac. Tarver is steady. Lilac is a whirlwind. All they have are each other. Just WOW! I loved the twist and turn.

🎧 Oddly I LOVED this book! It‘s YA. It‘s a super fast, easy, engaging read!

Tarvas is an 18 yo decorated soldier. Lilac is the 16 yo daughter of the richest man in the Galaxy. They‘re on her father‘s spaceship, dressed for a ball when the liner is ripped out of hyperspace & crashes on the nearest recently terraformed planet.

This was great fun! The best way I can describe it would be if the Titanic was a spacecruiser that crashed and Rose and Jack had to survive on a unknown planet. I will definitely be continuing this trilogy.

This book fell a little flat for me. It started out strong then became a big disappointment. The plot was just too far out there for Sci-Fi. If the plot had been reworked and sold as Fantasy I could have gotten behind it. 3.5 ⭐

This was a good book, but nothing spectacular. I really enjoyed the main plot of the book. It was like Hatchet, but with romance in space. The characters were a bit of a let down. They were very cookie cutter, especially the boy.

Continuing my Amie Kaufman and outer space obsession with this one. The audiobook brought the dual point of view to life. The premise is a shipwreck but in space. Super gripping and swoony romance. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is my current exam read for the #OWLsReadathon2019 , These Broken Stars for Arithmancy. I'm almost done with this one and I'll be starting my History of Magic exam shortly. I'll post what I'm reading for that later!

A quick, fun read, just what I needed at the time!

I really really like her writing. I've read the first two of the Illuminae series plus this one so far, and they're well-spun stories.

This fulfilled my book set on another planet prompt and I loved it. Tarver reminds me of my first love. 💕

I liked this audiobook a whole lot more than I expected to.

I sometimes (ok often) rant about books that are just a little too YA and full of tropes. This one does have some of the usual for the genre, and at the beginning I was rolling my eyes at Lilac and Tarver (those names 🙄) and their angst even before anything happened, but it got better! The sci-fi elements and the whole Titanic-like vibe put it solidly in the pick column.

After my current audiobook, this one is next up... library loan only lasts for 5 more days so I‘m going as fast as I can!

I got mad with this one, and that‘s rare. I might have gone on an angry late-night rant awhile ago (which was when I finished this book) and it wasn‘t pretty so for that I apologize. In a gist, this book had SO much potential, but then imploded in on itself about 75% through. You either love or hate this book, and sadly I fall in the latter.

This was slightly disappointing. It wasn‘t great, but it was interesting enough that I finished it and will read the next one. It was pretty slow, and it had an uncomplicated (ok, simplistic) plot. I feel like there was a lot of potential here, but it just never quite made it. It was better than “meh” but I wouldn‘t go quite as far as to call it good. It was ok. 2 1/2 - 3 stars.
