Helen and Rose are very different women married to equally opposite brothers. They share a 2-family house, as was often the case years ago. They wind up sharing far more than their residence. This was an enjoyable, heartbreaking story about two families spanning a few generations. Rose was a hard character to like, but a lot happens to both women that changes them. The twist wasn‘t hard to predict, but its execution was believable and realistic.
Our book club selection for August on this August eve is up next!
I haven‘t posted my #bookspin review yet, I‘m still hoping to read my #doublespin book this week, but of course, I have my March list completely ready to go. 🤦🏼♀️ It‘s a (mostly) random selection from my physical TBR, and really, I‘m kinda hoping to get most of them read. We‘ll see how that goes.
1- done ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
2- puffy ☁️
3- both! 🌄🌇
4- a vacation! Someone mentioned a cruise and that sounds wonderful. 🛳
5- 5th. We moved between 5th and 6th grade and I had a hard time adjusting.

Thank you so much @blondie !!! This has been on my TBR for such a long time. I can‘t wait to read it! I love #kindlitsy and the unexpected times you get emails like this ❤️❤️❤️
I liked this generational tale of two brothers and their families.
Thank you so much Julie! These arrived yesterday and I love it! The bookmarks are so cute and I can‘t wait to read these books! You are so sweet!! #litsyfriendsarethebest. #bookmail
I loved the family dynamics in this book and the tragedy and redemption!
In today's #womenshistoryreads interview, Lynda Cohen Loigman shares her source of inspiration, news about her next book, and more! Greermacallister.com/blog
Have I ever said before that I just LOVE family dramas! This was good on so many levels. Mort started out being my least-favorite character and I grew to appreciate and even enjoy him. I love when an author can make me change my mind about a character. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
1. Apple-although I refuse to follow the iPhone upgrade trend. I‘m sticking to my iPhone 6 until it literally dies.
2. I have an Amazon Fire tablet that I just use for e-reading
3. YouVersion Bible App
4. Laptop-I no longer own one but I have a work laptop that I use. Really don‘t have a purpose for one other than work since I can take care of most things on my phone.

I loved this book! It had everything that I enjoy family dynamics, secrets, drama & love. It starts in 1947 and ends in 1970. The chapters are short and alternate from different character perspectives, which I loved! As the years progressed and the children grew up, we were also able to read from their perspective within the story. The story although heart wrenching at times was a beautiful story about the power of love and family.
Anyone read this one? Found it in a pile of books I was going through. Haven‘t read it myself but it looks pretty good! It‘s about two babies who are born in this house minutes apart from each other. Over time they become close friends but then cracks start to creep in and their friendship gets pulled apart in tragic way. It has a pretty high rating in Goodreads, 3.93.
Looking forward to starting this new book from my #cupidgoespost match. Now, how to get Little to give up some space in the reading chair... 🤔
I could not stop reading this once I picked it up. Watching these families deal with the aftermath of an impulsive decision that only two of group even knew about was painful yet compelling. I liked most of the characters, even Mort- though he made it difficult! The multiple POVs worked very well. Will watch for her next book.
#NovemberByTheNumbers It‘s a fairly obvious setup of what‘s to happen to this family, but what I really enjoyed was how the family reacts and grows from the situation.
Helen and Rose are sister in laws, married to brothers Abe & Mort Berman. The couples reside in a two story family home in Brooklyn; Helen & Abe with their 3 sons live on the top floor, Mort & Rose below, with 3 daughters. On a snowy night their lives are altered.
All I'm saying is you've never seen me crying & drinking #coffee at the same time. 😆♥️🙋🏻

Took a #selfcare weekend. Hardly read (on Sunday) or posted & I feel so refreshed! I'm ready for Monday & even the dreaded #daylightsavings time this weekend.

This weekend I shopped a little, watched movies/Netflix (still haven't finished #strangerthings) a lot & carved pumpkins with my youngest.
One for me and two for my #halloweengoespostal match! I hope her list is updated!! Ran across these two at the Goodwill store today! Do you guys think it's acceptable to send "gently used" books? I can send more if that's acceptable mixed with some new ones! I totally don't care!!
It seems appropriate that I would read this book now. My sons just bought the house that I have an apartment in. They will rent out the bottom half of the house for a few years. Eventually they'll settle in themselves. My daughter and her family live 4 houses away. We're taking over this tiny town! 😂😂
This was not my favorite book group selection but it is a decent read.
I read this book twice. Once on my own and again when it was chosen for my book club. I liked it both times. You kind of know what is going to happen from the beginning but you keep reading because it was good and you want to know how it affects the 2 families. It was a very fast read. I would recommend it for both an individual as well as a book club book.
The story takes place in Brooklyn, in 1947. Friends by proximity, sisters by marriage, two women of the same family give birth on the same day, within a few minutes of one another -at home-during a blizzard. The only two people present- a harrowingly brave midwife and daughter of one mom. Two healthy babies are born, for anyone else, a cause for celebration except on this particular day, the worlds of these two women collided and changed forever.
Loving this audio during our road trip!!
☔️ Raining all this weekend... No problem. My new book stash just arrived. May the reading begin! 💦
The author not only followed me but also DMed me on IG tonight! 😱 😍 I just love down to earth authors, don't you?
I told her how I included this in a reader's advisory for a library patron who returned to say how much she enjoyed this book. Lynda replied with a gracious thank you.
Satisfaction of a job well done. 👍 #happyreaders
A good read about trials and tribulations of an extended family
One of the characters is driving me nuts ! Sign of a good book!!!
Day 9: Rarely do I find someone who spells their name like mine....Lynda "with a y". #authorwhosharesyourname #riotgrams
Felt this was rather boring. Never really cared much about any of the characters. I figured out the big secret way early on and it's hard to tell if the author meant for it to be so obvious or not. I don't know...just really meh on this one.
I just realized I've been calling this The Two House Family in my head all this time. Anyhoo, has anyone read this? I'm about 49 pages in, starting chapter 10 and it's just .....slow. I'm not sure I'm feeling this one 😒
Tonight's reading. Chapter 5 for the #hpchapteraday and The Two Family House. It's good so far.
My current library reads. I swear, I return one, bring home 2 more (one I already had here). I'll never get to the books I already own at this pace 😂 #booknerdproblems
"Love is always forgiving." in THE TWO-FAMILY HOUSE BY Lynda Cohen Loigman. A family secret and its consequences play out over 23 years in a brownstone in NYC. A must-read debut novel.
Finished listening to this on Audible yesterday. Loved it. It will not disappoint if you are into historical fiction as I am these days.
#LitsyAtoZ #letterL I really enjoyed this book. It was such an interesting look at women's and family relationships and how they can change and distort when emotions run high. It made me question what I'd do for those who are most important to me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Nacho really enjoyed all of the lap time available to him while I read this one. 😆 #catsoflitsy)
This storyline is officially ripping my emotions apart. Tears. . . I didn't think there'd be tears! I have 100 pages left and once again, I'm avoiding finishing because I don't want it to end! There might be another #bookhangover in my near future.
Because now that I'm done with grad school I'm reading all the books at the same time. #booknerdproblems
Interesting tale of a family breakdown, but doesn‘t really start clicking until the end. The characters are mostly unlikable. I would definitely read another book written by the author as the writing was good. I just couldn‘t connect with the characters, and that makes enjoying a book difficult. However, it was truly an excellent discussion book. It was one of the liveliest discussions my group has had!
4 1/2 ⭐️ I love this book! I flew through it and thought the story had a perfect pace. The characters were well drawn and complex. I did have the twist figured out just before it happened but I believe you're supposed to as it informed many choices in the story. Would highly recommend!
I found this to be a touching story about family love, emotional decisions made with good intentions yet destructive consequences and yet...
#Birthday festivities about to get underway! First up, Naomi Jackson, Lynda Cohen Loigman, & Matthew Thomas panel. Books ready to be signed afterward 😆👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻!!!
Predictable & sentimental but not necessarily to its detriment.
