Although I would not have guessed that this book is considered adult fantasy (it has a very YA feel), it was a great read. The story and its characters captured me from the first page. It felt as if I was reading something different rather than the typical tropes that are popular. I'm glad the second book has also been published.
Thank you for the tag @dabbe!
I am excited.to read The Berry Pickers this month. I do not have any books on pre order.
Wanna play @DinoMom , @DebbieGrillo

I adore Rebecca‘s writing, and this story and its world had me hooked from the very beginning. I loved everything about this book and cannot wait to start reading its sequel.
“I am but a verse inspired by your chorus, and I will follow you until the end, when the isle takes my bones and my name is nothing more than a remembrance on a headstone, next to yours.” - A River Enchanted
A great recommendation by @HOTPock3tt - I just started the sequel and cannot wait to see how this story ends.

Fantastic recommendation from @HOTPock3tt ‘s #auldlangspine list!!! I absolutely loved this book ❤️ Top notch world building with complicated magical rules. The final twist caught me completely by surprise (under spoiler below). I have already borrowed the second book from the library and cannot wait to see how it all ends.
@monalyisha
Loved, loved, loved this story. It‘s taken me a while to read it as I didn‘t finish it the first time I had it out from the library and had to wait ages for it to come back in! I can see why so many say it‘s a cottage core book, but one filled with the wonders of magic.
Spending today napping, playing games with my youngest (albeit adult) kid, and resting.
This is an odd Xmas.
No tree because Salem cat was interested in eating it.
No mum here cause she has been seriously ill this week.
And we started the day with covid testing the youngest )albeit adult) kid. Negative but she is feeling awful.
But all trials aside we are making the most of a quiet day.
Merry Xmas all.
But I‘m reading these first because they‘re due in 9 days. 😅
Soccer Saturday with a book in the car
A cold and grey morning by the beach this morn. A perfect day for snuggling with a book and resting.
This morning I am going to start reading this one. Fingers crossed it‘s good!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Beautiful and well-written fantasy. This thick book reads quickly, and I found the characters to be honest and likable. It was a unique setting and I loved the lore of the isle! Highly recommended. So happy I already have the sequel in my possession! #ariverenchanted
Dove right into one of my #staycation treats (thank you @Catsandbooks ) and absolutely found a new author to love. Immediately looked up her other books and ordered the 2nd one in this series. What a great story of warring clans, magic, forbidden love, and music. Exceptional storytelling and characters who you can‘t help but root for. #serieslove2023 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I wasn‘t bought into the mystery and didn‘t really love the two main characters, but the fantasy setting was lovely and I enjoyed spending time in this world that Ross created.
I did not know a lot going into this one - a friend said, hey, I liked it, and then let me borrow the book. I usually need more than that, but I gave this one a shot and enjoyed myself! Rich world and fun characters, led along by an engaging plot. A good time, and I'm curious about the sequel.
I‘m not sure what I was expecting from this, but it was a pleasant surprise. The plot was pretty predictable, but I loved the magic and the writing. It was a very pretty fantasy, if that makes sense lol
Now I just need to get the sequel!
Rebecca Ross is a master of words. Each of her books beautifully unfolds a story of bravery, loyalty and love. I completely adored all the characters in this book, especially Jack, Adaira, Torin and Sidra. The concept of an enchanted island and nature spirits was so cool. I can‘t wait to read A Fire Endless!u
Also, this Illumicrate version is so gorgeous! I wish I had the exclusive sequel.
This was so much fun, a great story, wonderful world building and fantastic characters. Now I have to wait my hold for book 2 to come through! And the #audio narrator was amazing! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #BOTM

This book was so wonderful. Had me hooked from the first few pages. Can‘t wait to read the 2nd one
This is a very pretty story. The world of the enchanted isle is so perfect. After reading, it ends up being one of those places you want to visit. Quiet and atmospheric, it's not a fast-paced story but beautifully written.
I definitely liked it although not as much as I thought I would based on the reviews I‘d seen. That being said, I loved the world building & the characters in this story about a young bard who is summoned home—a place he had no intention of ever returning to—only to learn that young girls are going missing & his help is needed to find them. Its an interesting enough world that I‘ll read the sequel to find out what happens.
Cover of my next book matches well with the rain in the forecast—such unusual weather for February…should be snow. 🌧️❄️🌧️
I‘ve read good things about this one…
My fantasy book club meets in 10ish days so I figured I should actually start the book 🤔😬🤦♀️😂
I need to wax poetic about this book cover. So damn pretty! Now to my thoughts. I enjoyed this quite a lot. I am mildly annoyed but I think that mostly stems from my not having immediate access to the sequel. But the story was gripping and had all kinds of layers to it. 4.5 stars.
Book shopping at B&N 🤪 luckily I didn‘t have a lot of time to shop
Word for Day 18 of #OminousOctober was Enchanting.
Looks like an intriguing read.

This was a lovely new fantasy based of Celtic folklore. It was a very cool fantasy world and unique magic. There were moments where it dragged and there are moments that feel YA, even though is an adult book. This would be a good first foray into adult fantasy. I look forward to book 2! 4⭐️

I didn't get through all of these challenges in August, so some will go back on the shelf. Looking forward to starting fresh!
I rather enjoyed this one. It felt a little slow, but i love the plot, the setting and a slow burning romance. The second book is due to come out later this year and I‘m looking forward to it.
I originally picked up this this book because of #BOTM. I had never heard of it before I picked it. There are only so many books I can read, so I decided to try it on audio. Loved it! Loved the accents and the different voices for everyone.
Jack comes back to his home island after being gone for 10 years. Someone has been snatching their girls. He helps to solve the mystery and a lot of other things I don‘t want to spoil. This is a light fantasy
In this first book of a series, Rebecca Ross has given us a beautifully built world and crafted characters that I truly loved. Jack Tamerlane, a musical bard, is ordered to return home. Believing he will make a quick visit, Jack soon learns that his skills are all that can help Adria, Heir of Cadence find girls that have been kidnapped. His music summons spirits, and there are other deeper secrets to be revealed. I can‘t wait for the next tale.
Jack Tamerlaine returns home to help his childhood rival speak to the spirits and uncover what is causing the disappearance of young girls on the island.

Reminiscent of Outlander, this magical story immerses you in the world of the Folk and the people of the isle.

▫️ A tad slow
▫️ Cliffhanger-y. BRING ON BOOK 2!
Apparently Book 2 is slated for a December release! Love these characters, love this world.... especially after a bunch of "meh" reads lately. Can't wait to see how this duology unfolds ?
I loved this so much… a very well-written fantasy with Scottish elements and a fairytale feel, complete with elemental spirits, a beautiful magic system, and a freaking bard. I enjoyed the characters and how they developed with the story, and the audiobook is fantastic.
The only thing keeping this from being 5⭐️s for me is that it‘s definitely a ‘book 1‘ of a series. I‘m going to need the next book ASAP, because that ending… ugh. 💔
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
This was so good and I‘m already excited for the 2nd one! I especially loved how the big twist wasn‘t something I foresaw and how the folk/magic were rooted in lore without feeling tired. I do hope they‘ll sing for fire in the sequel, though, being ever the completionist.
The first in a series set on a magical island called Cadence. Girls have been going missing on the island Adaira, heiress of the East ask Jack Tamerlaine back from the mainland to help with finding the girls. As he is a bard and capable of singing to the spirits to get information. There are secrets, rival clans and romance in this Scottish themed story. I really enjoyed it.
🎧📚 Annoying YA trope but it didn‘t realllllly bother me.
A bastard bard is sent away for nearly a decade to learn his craft. He‘s summoned back to the isle as girls are disappearing.
Mysteries involving the girls & the question about his parentage then the tropey YA romance but thankfully no awkward sexy time.
It‘s a story with a bit of magic & earth, wind, fire & water elementals can be summoned from nature.

I really loved this book. Jack is called back to his childhood home by Adaira, the clan leader's daughter, after some of the girls in the village go missing. Jack has become a bard and Adaira is hoping he can use his gift to call the spirits of the isle to help find the girls.

The naked hardcover is really pretty with the sprayed edges. The back has the same red foil design & the spine has red foil writing.
The picture doesn‘t do it justice.

I just noticed that the endpapers are also nicer than usual. This is pretty accurate.
