Fun audiobook to listen to. I liked the relationship between Amy & her FIL, Steve. Amy is protecting Rosie & then suddenly Amy becomes the prime suspect of several murders. It was a fun murder mystery book.

Read this 4 book club. I haven‘t read Thursday Murder Club (TMC) series yet, but plan to on audiobook. Idk what Osman‘s style of writing is in TMC but at times here it came off as trying too hard to be funny or maybe I don‘t have the right sense of humor. It was overall enjoyable & I liked the characters enough although at times there seemed like too many. I would read the 2nd in this series, but don‘t think I‘d buy it. I‘m eager for TMC though!
1-19-25: My 5th finished book of 2025! Written by the author of The Thursday Murder Club, is a new series. Amy, a body guard, Steve her father in law and Rosie the famous author, set out on an adventure around the globe to solve a case involving the murders of several influencers on Instagram. Steve is a retired cop and not involved in much until Amy starts getting implicated in the murders. And Rosie, she is along for the ride. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣5️⃣

See, I knew I‘d end up flying through this one. It was a fast read and so, so good.

I enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club, but I thought ehhh, this one probably won‘t be as good as that one, right? No. Wrong. It‘s top tier, really hilarious and touching and action-packed and very English (but in the endearing way, not the annoying way). I‘m enjoying it so much that I can‘t stop reading it, and that makes me sad that I‘ll be done with it too soon.
Up next on audio! 🎧
Looking forward to his new series!

Very much enjoyed this launch of a new series. I loved these characters and Osman's humor and style are very much intact. And while I'm not a big audiobook person, more like this might help convert me. We recently moved and it's certainly made the unpacking more enjoyable.
I was a little worried I wouldn't like this since I fell in love with Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim, and Ron, the Thursday Murder Club bunch, but I needn't have worried. Steve, Amy, and Rosie are wonderful, and the somewhat madcap adventure felt familiarly entertaining. Now I have two series by this author to look forward to continuing! It was a great book to start 2025!
November was probably my best reading month & it was so hard to pick just one #12BooksOf2024 but I‘m going to go with *We Solve Murders. The Thursday Murder Club is a favorite series & while this one isn‘t quite there (yet), it was still delightful.
Honorable Mentions are: *Neighbors and Other Stories, *Annie Bot, *Shark Heart, Somewhere Beyond the Sea, Dinner for Vampires & The Age of Magical Overthinking
*All on my #AuldLangSpine list.
Nothing will ever be able to compete with the Thursday Murder Club but this was still fun and I will absolutely check out the next book in the series whenever it comes out.
I did not have any 5-star reads in October, and my reading pace really decreased at this time, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Osman‘s other series is on my to read list, with the books staring at me from my shelves, so this was my first encounter with Osman and his writing style. So humorous! There were enough red herrings and twists, and some surprises too, that made me fly through this. #12BooksOf2024

I thought this was a good start to Osman‘s new series. His books are dependable to me. Not the best, but dependably satisfying and entertaining, which I appreciate
Delighted to start a new read. Also reminding myself that this will be nothing like “Only Murders in the Building” so that I get Martin Short and his dips out of my brain 😆😂
I placed a library hold for this as soon as it came out, because I loved the Thursday Murder Club books so very much. And for me, it isn‘t yet quite on par with Thursday Murder Club, but I can see the series growing on me as Osman develops these characters further. And I did really enjoy it! I liked the father-in-law/daughter-in-law mystery-solving duo of Amy and Steve, but Rosie stole the show. There‘s a lot to explore with all of these ⤵️
Last weekend's book haul while Christmas shopping - whoopsies ✌️ Tagged book is a signed special edition 😊
The mystery is entertaining but the characters, including the cat, are really the best part.
New series with a new murder solving team. As others stated the back and forth between very different and new main characters was a bit confusing initially, but the narrative soon evened out and the short snappy chapters propelled the story forward. With an engaging cast and the knowledge that Steve and Amy could drive to Cooper‘s Chase and meet the TMC gang it earned a 4 of 5 ⭐️ rating from me.
Richard Osman‘s thriller (the first in a new series) couples jet-setting action, wry observations - particularly about ageing and dealing with grief - sharp one-liners and an interesting trio of central characters. However for me, neither Rosie nor Amy quite rang true in terms of their characters and the plot - though entertaining - was too easy to guess. That said there‘s a lot of potential here and I will definitely read the sequel.
I had so much fun reading this one!! My first introduction to Osman‘s writing, I already can‘t wait to dive into his earlier books! While my #bookclub didn‘t love this one as much as I did, I‘m so excited to give a copy to my own much loved, soon-to-be-retired FIL in the hopes that we may go solve murders together! Funny & gripping— though I solved the biggest twist pretty early— I loved scene-stealing Rosie & want the sequel right now!! So fun!!!
Is it a cosy murder mystery? Or a spy thriller? Or a gangster story? To me none of the above. I really like Richard Osman but he needs to stay in one lane. This is all over the place. A few laughs yes but a totally ridiculous plot. I couldn‘t anymore so bailed.
At first this felt literally all over the place since the two MCs weren‘t in the same location and then the plot took them around the world. But once I settled in I liked the story and will definitely read more of the series. Amy and Steve are interesting characters so it will be fun to see what happens next. Nicola Walker‘s narration was great as always. She really adds to the story for me.
It‘s no Thursday Murder Club but it‘s not bad. The characters all felt a little one-dimensional with the same character trait being brought up over and over, which is what made this a so-so for me. It‘s zanier than TMC, which will work for some people but didn‘t pull me in enough to keep going with the series.

Read as one of my November #Roll100 picks (#8 Any #BOTM) I was sad when I heard Osman was detouring from writing his Thursday Murder Club series to start a new one but I need not have worried, this series has a similar style & humor & I have a feeling it will grow on me even more as it unfolds. As it was I had a blast with Amy, her father-in-law Steve & especially Rosie, a world famous author not just along for ⬇️

I was going to spend my #HyggeHour with Trixie Belden but I really wanted to start this one. Accompanied by white chocolate with peppermint chips from Maui.
Tonight‘s mood is mellow & a little sleepy. Gearing up for another busy week & a trip to Kauai for the day tomorrow to finish up helping with benefits open enrollment. It makes for long days-but it‘s a good way to meet people & see our branches.
The humor, detail, knowledge, and character development are similar to the Thursday Murder Club series. I like the duo of Amy & her father in law. A bit like Only Murders in the Building, but with people more familiar with investigating & the seedier parts of life.
You know, I really don't much care about the plots (although they are pretty good) in his books, I'm too busy enjoying the characters who are always quirky, complex and funny in one way or another. And, a cat called Trouble.
Looking forward to book 2!
A marvelous time. If you love the Thursday Murder Club books and enjoyed Killers of a Certain Age, I think you'll love this. Rosie is a treasure, I want to hug Steve, I am not chill enough to hang out with Amy, though I hope she gets more time with her husband soon. I definitely want to see more of the quiz club crowd. Now eagerly anticipating the next entry in this series, as well. 😊 1/?
I had fun reading this!
There was initially far too many characters for me to keep up with but it did all fall into place nicely. I loved the relationship between Amy and Steve but the absolute highlight of the entire book was Rosie! I just want to sit on a private jet with Rosie drinking Guinness and Tequila 🤣
Great fun! If you love the Thursday Murder Club series, you‘ll find new characters to love here with Osman‘s trademark wit and whimsy. Some parts were a touch slow for me but mostly I found myself eager to keep riding the subway so I could continue the audiobook (which is saying a lot for me, lol) ☺️
Addictive! Highly enjoyable and fun and clever. Amazing fast paced, mystery filled with a new cast of likable characters and great writing.
1. Sunsets because I grew up on the west coast of Florida!
2. Bumbling assassins, mystery

This makes me so happy!!!!
Just got home from my first ever book club meeting and I had a blast! I appreciate that it‘s held at a local brewery (I love having a little liquid courage in unfamiliar group settings). Being able to talk and listen with other people was so much fun! It‘s one thing to talk with another reader and be like, “I liked this book!” But another to actually have the space to be, “I liked this book because…”. I‘m making the November meeting a priority 👍
Like everyone else I‘ve read this book now
Amy works as a bodyguard and is protecting the famous author Rosie who a Russian is trying to kill. While on the job, Amy finds out that someone is trying to kill her too. Amy turns to her FIL, who is one of few people she trusts, for help. Who‘s trying to kill Amy?
I loved these characters and am already looking forward to the next book in this series
This is written in Osman‘s hilarious way
#WickedWhispers
I love a good #Mystery but I am having to hold myself back from these two that are at the top of my #TBR until November as they aren‘t on my #HauntedShelf TBR
I chose the tagged book as my #BOTM birthday pick this month as I love the author‘s previous series & Cold As Hell is an ARC & next up in a favorite mystery series.🔎🩶
Obsessed so far! Can‘t stop listening! I‘m about 1/3 through and so happy to be back in Osman‘s (albeit new) world. SO glad I decided to do audiobook rather than wait for the library hold list—the narrator is epic.
Black cat bookmark for the win! This was another hilarious and heartwarming tale from Richard Osman. Loved it and can‘t wait for more!! His sense of humor is just, perfect 😂😂👏🏻👏🏻
Another fantastic cast of characters that I can‘t wait to follow! I snagged this on Audible to keep me company whilst gardening and it did not disappoint. Nicola Walker‘s performance was wonderful. If you like the Thursday Murder Club books, this will probably enjoy this as well.
A new series by Richard Osman? Sign me up! This first book starts strong and definitely makes me want to read the next one. Great characters thrown together under unique circumstances. Funny and clever with an interesting trio of personalities at the core. Looking forward to more.
Possibly my favorite Osman yet (which is saying something). . . . [full review to come]
Low pick. There were too many characters that needed introduction which dragged on.
Will certainly read the next in the series.

Over the top, ridiculous, and so, so much fun. Took a bit to find its groove, but overall I loved meeting Steve, Amy, and especially Rosie. I will definitely read on to their next adventure when it comes.
But first, a new Thursday Murder Club book coming in 2025 🎉
