I enjoyed this book though I am not a soccer fan. It is honest & painful. While listening, I could feel the pressure myself. I can‘t imagine how much it takes to be a sport star esp to represent a women team. At places I felt it is rushed otherwise narration was good. 3.5🌟#nonfiction2022 #athlete

This was so good! One of the best memoirs I‘ve read, sports related or not. Honest, sad, endearing and beautifully written. I listened on audio and enjoyed hearing it in her own voice. At different places, I cried, cheered and worried for Wambach. Highly recommend!

I liked, but didn‘t love, this book. Abby has had some AMAZING accomplishments and has stood up for women, women in sports, and lesbians for the betterment of all of humanity, and for that, we should be thankful. Plus, she‘s an amazing soccer player.

That said, this didn‘t really work as an #audiobook for me. Her voice was really flat and didn‘t imbue passion into places that could‘ve benefited from it. 3.5⭐️ #Audible 🔽

Which #audiobook should I listen to next? I‘m leaning towards the tagged one. I‘m leaning away from The Gifted School right now because it‘s so long! Hmmmm...

A great memoir from an amazing athlete. Brutally honest and self-reflective, giving context and results of both high and low life moments. Very engaging listen.

I really enjoy female athlete memoirs and this one did not disappoint. It‘s got some great bits of wisdom, while also maintaining Abby‘s tough personality throughout. 👌🏼💪🏼

I have always said that Pinoe is my favorite player, but Abby is my hero. It turns out, I didn‘t know her. This was nothing I expected. She laid her heart out. Her vulnerabilities, relationship to her body, the game, her exes, friends, and mom. I loved the play-by-plays of games I‘d watched live. Even though it was none of my business, I appreciated an inside look into what happened with Sarah Huffman. And the DUI. I can‘t say enough good things.

My first completed audiobook! It was engrossing and sad and I related all too well to the theme of pretending to be okay when you're not. Highly recommend. #queerbooks

Honest, tough, much like you'd expect but also insecure, and troubled. I liked her before ready by but admire her more after. Jester thing like better no honest and putting it out there.

I am an unabashed USWNT fangirl. Abby Wambach is IMO one of the greatest athletes the world has ever known. I was THOROUGHLY unprepared for this memoir. It is raw and vulnerable and as much about Abby's demons as it is about her athletic accomplishments. I admire her even more for her perseverance and wish her peace and serenity in her new life. 4.5⭐️. #pantslessreadathon

I don't think I'd like this as much if I had read it on paper, but it worked really well on audio.

Growing up watching women's soccer I remembered many of the event she talked about in the book. It was an interesting, fast and easy read. Would recommend it to women soccer fan.

This was awesome for the following reasons:
1. She's from my town, so it was super interesting to read about people I know and work with 2. I cried through the whole thing. 3. Utterly inspiring

Such an emotional rollercoaster! She conveys the intensity of her life in a bold and straightforward manner that really gets to me.

This is my sports book challenge. It made soccer palatable and I really enjoyed the author. #readharder2017

Really interesting. I wasn't emotionally moved, but you sense there was something healing for her to write this. I cared to see where her story went. It was interesting to read all the athletes are doing and going through that you are not aware of. I would of liked more of that. I used to work in the music industry and am sensitive to the unseen demands put on them by agents/labels/fans/the industry. How ppl push themselves to meet the demands.

I'm enjoying Forward quite a bit, considering I'm not a sports fan. There is of course soccer talk in it, but it's much more about her personal struggle with depression and finding balance between her career life and life off the field. ⚽️🍻

I was only vaguely familiar with Abby Wambach before reading her memoir. It was interesting (and infuriating) to get an insider's view of professional women's soccer. Also an honest look at the author's battle with alcohol and drugs. #ReadHarder

Just finished this one. Unexpected, unapologetic, and definitely not a sports memoir. Wambach opens up about her successes and failures, her addiction, broken marriage - everything. Well worth your time. I listened on audio.

Received this gift from my friend and coworker at our little department Christmas dinner last night! I can't wait to read it (But I will, because she's my F in #LitsyAtoZ )

I'm not a person who really follows sport so I only heard about Wambach when she was interviewed for the Stuff Mom Never Told You podcast, but I knew I wanted to learn more about her.

This is a blisteringly honest memoir about her time as a soccer star, but also her battle with alcohol and pills.

You can tell she approves. 😜

3.5/5 ✨✨✨? finally got this back from my teen boy (he really liked it). Finished it in under 2 hrs. Good read about someone who can admit they effed up and grow. It wasn't a "Look at me! I am the GOAT of soccer! I did ALL the amazing things because ME!!" I told of the why she behaved throughout her life as she did. FYI I'm not a soccer player (fan, not player) I read this because Glennon (Love Warrior) recommended it.

I MADE IT TO THE LIBRARY AND I AM YELLING BECAUSE I AM EFFING HAPPY!!! (I needed some happy today!)

Must pick this hold up from library today or they take it back!!! New job is eating reading time. 😒
