Two down. I love crawling around inside Neil Gaiman‘s imagination. “And then she woke up.”

This was maybe my least favorite, but I really loved the inclusion of the “minor” characters in Rose‘s storyline. I really appreciate the willingness to tie in previous stories, to “tie up loose ends” you didn‘t even know were still unraveled. As always, Gaiman‘s sense of humor keeps me coming back. Also, this side plot of Hob Gadling. Proof Morpheus really does care sometimes, even if that fact pisses him off. 😂
I was introduced to Sandman with this volume that was assigned for one of my college courses, and it‘s still the one that fascinates me the most. #Scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash @StayCurious #Spookoween2022 @TheSpineView #31by31 @Catsandbooks #PointsAThon @dieareader @GHABI4ROSES #OutstandingOctober @andrew65 #bodycountbingo @PuddleJumper
Kicking off my #Scarathlon2022 #readathon with the brand new full cast audiobook of The Sandman: Act III(which is not the tagged book coz it‘s not in the database!)I‘m a bit late, tonight‘s been kinda crap. First I come out in an all over rash from covid(yay)then we lose all water to the house(double yay)then I get into it with the hubby(and not in a good way😒)can this week be over already? Please?? #TeamSlaughter 1pt
Rose Walker finds out she has a grandmother she never knew about, and then she starts to look for her king lost brother. On the why she meets many peculiar people and off course the Sandman is lurking in the shadows.
So true

3. I yell at the characters while hiding my eyes. I don't handle scary too well 😅
4. 💀 Skeletons on Parade by Ludo & Spooky, Scary, Skeletons the undead tombstone remix
5. Van Helsing(2004), it kickstarted my love for dracula and my interest in vampires 🧛🏻♀️
@wanderinglynn
Interesting story so far. The main story was about a girl who is a vortex. Her brother is missing and her grandmother is sick. Dream watches a lot from the sidelines in this one. My favorite story was the man who wouldn't die. Artwork was okay but story was better.
Morpheus, the lord of dreams, is back to his full power. However, a new menace threatens his dream world and all the dreamers‘ safety. Can Morpheus figure out where, and who, this vortex is? An enthralling continuation of the Sandman saga.
Neil Gaiman spares no details as he dives into the dark side of humanity. From humans that will create nightmares to amuse themselves, to the nightmares themselves that use humans for entertainment. It's an adventure into the heart of humanity‘s darkness. I look forward to the second audiobook.

My favorite quotes: (+ quotes in the comments)
📌 For love is not part of the dreamworld. Love belongs to desire, and desire is always cruel.
📌 — There, in the flames and the darkness, they made love. All that night they stayed together, and every living thing that dreamed, dreamed that night of her face, and of her body, and of the warm salt taste of her sweat and her skin… And every living thing that could dream dreamed of love. (BEAUTIFUL)
Book 6
Rated it 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm obsessed!! ❤️ It's SO FREAKING GOOD!!!!
I finished reading Volume 2 of Sandman The Doll's House by Neil Gaiman.
I need to read something lighter to get out of the DARK spot I am. 😂 😂
Episode 20: Isn‘t it wonderful that #neilhimself has given us definitive proof of Shakespeare‘s authorship. Case closed. Carry on.

Episode 14: I haven‘t posted about ‘The Sandman‘ in a while but I have been listening to it. It really is a fantastic production. This chapter sees Morpheus confront the last of his lost dreams — the ones that left the Land of Dream during Morpheus‘s imprisonment on Earth — the Corinthian.

Not my favorite episode. Mr D is using the Ruby Dream Stone for his own entertainment, holding a group of strangers hostage in a diner. This episode can be triggering. ⭐️⭐️

Episode 5 starts with a visit the Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane. Dr Destiny‘s mother comes to visit, setting in motion Mr D‘s escape and retrieval of Morpheus‘s Ruby Dream Stone. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Episode 4 sees Morpheus descend into Hell to reclaim his helm from a demon who acquired it from a human. He finds Hell is no longer ruled by Lucifer alone, and must contend with the Triumvirate to find the demon. Gaiman at his best twisting so many theologies into one story.

Constantine helps Morpheus track down the first of his three Dream Tools — his pouch of Dream Sand. With every passing Chapter/Episode, I enjoy this production more and more.

Episode 2: Morpheus escapes and begins the search for his Tools of Dreams. Things are starting to heat up, so of course, the Prince of Dreams must seek out Constantine. So very good.

Hob, Gilbert, and the spider ladies are just as delightful as I remember. The cereal convention is just as delightfully horrifying as I remember.
A graphic novel to start the day. #Scarathlon #TeamHendrix #Wickedathon #Screamathon #ReadWithUs #SpookOWeen
I'm continuing with the Sandman comics, but I might have to take it slowly because I'd honestly forgotten how grim and gruesome it can be. For some reason I remember it as being dreamy and speculative, but there's a lot of elements of crime, noir and pulp fiction cleverly incorporated into the comics. This volume brings us close to some of the worst of humanity; though, at the same time, Gaiman never loses sense of how people become fucked up.
FYI, Act I is currently free on @audible and you know you‘ve been dying to hear it.

Nice try audible
(Side note: one chapter in and this is amazing!)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I didn‘t have a clue how anything in this volume was connected until the end & then it was like 🤯.
Still dark & occasionally gross & much more Gaiman-like than the first. Definitely looking forward to continuing on!
It‘s a do nothing but read kind of Sunday. I‘m enjoying some shade while Lenny basks (never mind, he didn‘t last long in this Alabama heat; he‘s already back inside lol). Happy Father‘s Day to all the dads out there 😊
That was more confusing and less engaging than the first I think. The convention of serial killers was messed up. The roles of Desire and Delirium are not clear to me yet. Some loose connections to the first volume.
Just finished my first Sandman graphic novel (I know, I should have started with the first one but this was the only one at my library and it caught my eye) and absolutely loved it. The artwork, the story, everything. Awesome!
Also finished What Dreams May Come: liked it, not loved as I've seen from other reviews but it was OK. First half had a bit too much afterlife detail for me but glad I stuck with it though, the second half was worth.
#5⭐reads2020
Thanks for the tag @Chrissyreadit ! This has been a terrible reading year for me, but I've managed to listen to a bunch of audiobooks and get through several graphic novels. These are my 5 star reads from this year. The full cast Sandman and Northanger Abbey were fantastic, Amanda Palmer is amazing, and I learned that the best way to fight evil necromancers and a zombie horde is with an undead T-rex.

It‘s here! My Collected Sandman finally arrived!! I can‘t wait to reread and compare while listening to the audioplay. This will be gooooooood 😍🎶🤓🛌💀💤
Now this is more what I had in mind when I picked up this series. I couldn't put this one down. I just had to know what happened next.
The brilliance of making people whom fell prey to the Sleepy Sickness part of the main story. That's the kind of thing Gaiman does that blows my mind.
I'm growing really fond of Morpheus as well - and bonding with characters always makes me love stories more.
I was right to have high expectations!
Listened to the audiobook version of sandman. I love love love the graphic novels so this was super fun. I could picture the art as I listened to some amazing voices.
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙫𝙤𝙡. 2: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚 follows a young woman named Rose Walker, who is being carefully watched by Dream. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚 was creepy, strange and gave me the heebie jeebies and yet I couldn‘t put it down! It was just as good if not better than volume 1. I liked how characters from the first book had important roles in this one. I also liked that we are introduced to Desire and Delirium.
Very closely adapted, well cast and grandiosely scored! Once my aniversary editions will arrive in september i‘ll do a simultaneous read/listen and subsequently dread the netflix series to come...
🎧 I thoroughly loved this production!
Adult language & situations! The cast was amazing with Gaiman playing the narrator. It‘s probably different from what you‘re used to listening to. It‘s like a full cast radio play. So yes, each act starts with a short scene then music & the name of the episode. Lots of appropriate sound effects.
An acquired taste? Bizarre. Plot interspersed with DC characters. So many awesome voice actors!

#sundayFunday ... @ozma.of.oz
1 - I‘ve listened to both & enjoy both! Examples? Daisy Jones & The Six ... Harry Potter series.
2 - So many! RC Bray, Jim Dale, Ron Perlman, Bronson Pinchot, Ray Porter, Sean Runnette, Catherine Tate, David Tenant, Bahni Turpin, Wil Wheaton.
3 - Currently listening to an Audible Original, The Sandman by Neil Gaiman 🎧
Yaaas! The audio adaptation of the sandman comics was finally published today and I‘m already getting chills from the opening lines. THIS IS SO GOOD! #audioporn
I am having difficulty getting into the graphic novel so this was released on audible this week. Full cast. Music. Shall be entertaining. And it‘s a purchased present for myself for making it through my dr appt this morning.
I normally don't read graphic novels, but can't not read everything by Neil Gaiman. I read the first volume over 10 years ago and wasn't so blown away by it that I was dying to read the next, but Neil's writing and the spell it weaves on the imagination have grown. Reading this was a different experience. The smaller stories interspersed with the main plot make for very entertaining read.
The artwork is gorgeous. The problem with the glossy pages is that it is all too easy to turn over several pages at once, which had me very confused for a while in several places.
There was a doll's house, but I have no idea why this volume was called that apart from a nod to the title of Ibsen's play, which I haven't read or seen so I'm no further forward.
The bedroom seems an appropriate place to read about the Lord of Dreams
Much better than Vol 1. The same mesmerizing artwork, but this time the story arc is more cohesive and stoked my curiosity as it went. I also thought the stories within each issue were stronger: I'm not a big fan of serial killer horror stories, but the 'Cereal Convention' was a creative take on this genre. I enjoyed the trip through time in 'Men of Good Fortune', even if it had little to do with the main story. And The Corinthian... 😨
