MatchlessMarie I did finish it this morning. I found myself enjoying parts of it but it felt disjointed but that‘s probably my fault. I think this one is probably hard to follow without taking notes. (edited) 2y

vlwelser I finished. And I'm wavering back and forth about whether I actually liked it or not. 2y

Simona I didn‘t finished it, but I really did try. Twice in English with different translators … I thought that my huge non interest is consequence of translation, and for my third attempt I was reading Slovenian translation. I finally gave up around page 300. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2y

TheKidUpstairs I'm still reading it. I find I enjoy it in small bits, so it will likely take me months. But I'd rather continue that way and enjoy it, rather than force myself to plow through and dislike it! 2y

Librarybelle I‘m still reading! It‘s stark, dark, and the abruptness of some of the language seems like the usual Russian literature translated into English prose. I‘m liking it so far, but I still have quite a bit to go! One thing - I forgot that it‘s best to read books like these with breaks. 2y

Deblovestoread I bailed early. I probably didn‘t give it a fair shot but it wasn‘t holding my attention. 2y

BookwormAHN I finished it. I liked the parts with Yury and Lara but felt rather lost with the Revolution. 2y

BarbaraBB I read it a long time ago and really enjoyed it back then. Looking back I think I read it without knowing too much about its context, I mostly enjoyed the romance parts! 2y

Billypar I'm 2/3 of the way through it. I've appreciated the writing and historical detail, but there is too much description for my taste without the narrative advancing quickly enough as it went. 2y

Mirazzles I‘m about over half way through. So far I am enjoying it. It just took a while to get into it because I kept confusing the character names. 2y

peaKnit I bailed, too heavy for me as it starts getting so dark and cold in the Midwest. Light reads only for me it seems. 2y

vlwelser @TheBookHippie I get that. It's soothing because you realize your own life isn't so bad. I may be projecting there. I maybe was in a cheerful place and not ready for this. 2y

Hooked_on_books Nope! 😂 I think I would have tried it if my hold had come in midway through November when I expected it, but I finally got the book after seeing lots of bail posts, so I ended up not even trying. Maybe I‘ll try it someday now that the idea of reading it has been planted. 2y

Bookwormjillk I was trying to read the audiobook, but the voice was so soothing I kept falling asleep 🤦‍♀️ I want to try again in print. 2y

This week I need to reread A Children‘s Bible for bookclub ( I‘m not enjoying it at all on the retake) and I‘m focusing on my #BookSpin #DoubleSpin & #ToB 🐓

BarbaraBB Children‘s Bible is not a book I‘d want to reread. Looking forward to your thoughts on the #ToB22 reads. The Trees is brutal but I loved it. How are @TrishB and you doing on the Lamb? 2y

Cinfhen I think Children‘s Bible will make for good discussion @BarbaraBB and it‘s short, so it‘s not too terrible. I‘m LOVING the Lamb but it‘s super long, with wayyyyy too many sub storylines and certain parts feel dated. The good news is both @TrishB and I haven‘t bailed, yet!!! 2y

Megabooks I don‘t think I would‘ve liked children‘s Bible as much if had read it in print. The audiobook was quite enjoyable. 2y

Book Report: Publishing Strategies, Writing Tips, and 101 Literary Ideas for Aspiring Authors and Poets | Mark Shaw

I have literally been forcing myself to read at least a few pages of something every day. I‘m still really sick and it took me 3 days to read the 70 page short story, The Battersea Barricades, but at least I‘m checking books off my TBR. #bookreport Super sad that I‘m not going to be able to even attempt #DrZ, but I barely have brain power enough for St. Mary‘s. There‘s no way I can handle a Russian. 😭

This is a difficult book. It's continuously hard to get into and the names are difficult to keep straight. But I still enjoyed the relationship between Yury & Lara. And I'm glad I finally read it. Although in this case the movie may be better 🤦🏼‍♀️

Keeping my forecast brief as I‘ve got three books in progress and it‘s a busy week with Hanukkah 🕎 #DrZ will probably be a bail, the Lamb is 900 pages, but I‘m loving it and my current audio is good not great, I‘m ready for it to be over! I‘m looking forward to my next 2 audios that were both gifted to me ( thank you @KarenUK & @Megabooks ) and The Millet is a re-read for bookclub on the 7th. I‘d like to add a #ToBLonglist but waiting to borrow😁

#NonFictionNovember continues to be providing me with some AMAZING reads!!! I LOVED both the Will Smith & Cicely Tyson memoirs. The wreckage of my presence was also good. I‘ve started listening/ reading books from the #ToBLongList - 3 this week - the best for me was The Echo Wife. I really hope it advances to the next round. Didn‘t care for Dream Girl & found Crossroads just ok. #DrZ is NOT going well, I think I‘m OUT. My other 2 in progress 👍🏻
