mcctrish I honestly feel dizzy after that chapter but my favourite part is “the slight sense of degeneracy induced by reading novels before luncheon” and I wish Veronica Godspeed #dontletthedoorhityouonthewayout 3mo
Bookwormjillk @mcctrish that was my favorite part too! 3mo

Bookwormjillk V seems like the type that can only feel good about herself by making others feel bad. 3mo
willaful I found this an absolutely fascinating chapter. Veronica is asking Sydney to help her accept what she thinks is her inevitable dreary lot in life, but refusing to see whenever Sydney suggests to her that it's not and that she has choices. And *she* feels sorry for Sydney! Sydney is in for a world of hurt, most likely, but she has the better chance of actually achieving happiness in her life. 3mo

I did it! I finished a book! 😁 This is a tough one to review given that it took me more than a month to read what would normally take me a week, but at the same time it's perfectly suited to read in small chunks. This was like if you distilled the laments of every Jewish friend, comedian, author, etc. I've ever known into a single, highly concentrated screed about the effects of a guilt-based upbringing (will feel familiar to Catholics and 👇

The_Penniless_Author ...certain strict Protestant sects as well.) Very funny in places, though probably not a book I'll revisit multiple times. 6mo
Ruthiella I read this 100 years ago, but definitely recall being able to relate to the guilt! I think some of us just come out of the womb that way! 6mo
RaeLovesToRead @The_Penniless_Author @Ruthiella At least in Portnoy's case he should feel guilty about screwing his family's dinner 🤣🤣🤣 (I was going to write #relatable as a joke, but don't want anyone to miss the sarcasm haha) 6mo

I don't have children myself, but I find myself relating and understanding quite a few quotes in this chapter.

I can't even imagine the anxiety. I already have it bad enough. If I had a child, it would be tenfold.

This was a really fun book, full of awkward yet lovable characters. Nina is adorably an anxious mess #relatable
I loved watching her connect with her newly discovered family and learning to embrace change and put her trust in others. I hate that I waited so long to read this but definitely looking forward to the next book set in this bookish community!

Daisey @Cinfhen So true! It‘s a constant dilemma. I think I may need to use #overbooked as a hashtag more frequently. 2y

Game night with the kids with a game I got from Santa- AZUL. It's SUPER fun. 🙃 #gamenight

Patchshank Ive had my eye on this game. Would a 7 year old be able to play it? 2y
SheReadsAndWrites I think so @Patchshank It's for 8 and up but it's not super complicated - it takes a round or two to grasp. Also, we found a 4 min instruction on YouTube on how to play that was super helpful. 😊 2y
Cinfhen I recently purchased this game too for my family 🧡 It took a few rounds to get the hang of it @Patchshank and I think the YouTube tutorial is super helpful 😊 2y

SheReadsAndWrites The YouTube was key for us to understand. 😂 @Patchshank We also taught two of our adult children the other night and it did take a round to have them get it - however, I'll admit that was teacher error on my part. 😬😂 @Cinfhen (edited) 2y
Patchshank Nice. I'll look into more and see what my partner thinks. Thank you @SheReadsAndWrites @Cinfhen ❤️ 2y
