I had picked this up for a breezy beach read and while I didn‘t finish it on vacation, I enjoyed this a lot! The characters were great! The male lead dreamy. It did have some heavy moments to it I wasn‘t expecting that honestly hit a little close to home which made me lose a touch of the escapism. But I still loved it and while I‘ve always wanted to go to Ireland, this made me want to even more

My kitty Rory in her favorite spot as I finished up this one. I‘ve been a fan of Alton for years and I found a lot of his essays interesting. He made some great points with stuff while also giving a little peek behind the curtain to some of the projects he worked on. I definitely enjoyed this

Finished the 5th book in the Percy Jackson series. I really enjoyed it. Always a nice, easy read that‘s fun. Also, some of you may recall I lost my kitty back in March. A little over a week ago I adopted a new fur baby. Meet Aurora (“Rory”) - she‘s pretty shy and still skittish at times but she‘s warming up nicely

It‘s that time of the year - March Madness and reading. I always get so much read while having the games on in the background. I‘d picked this up as my mom continues to explore the more holistic approach to cancer treatment. I thought a lot of what he said was interesting but I think the chapter on faith could be problematic for some. I appreciate his messages of forgiveness and that was his experience but he shouldn‘t have pushed God so much

Went to a book signing today for the tagged book with my parents. I can‘t wait to read it! I‘ve been a fan of Alton Brown‘s for years and it was so fun to meet him. He was super nice!

My Sammy crossed the rainbow bridge today. After a couple rough days, decided it was time. Poor guy had two tumors in his lungs and hadn‘t been eating much lately before stopping entirely yesterday. Two months shy of his 17th birthday. I‘m gonna miss my reading buddy. So heartbroken but hoping he‘s at peace now

This was another #buddyread with my bestie. The first in a trilogy about two friends. This first book was about their childhood and growing up together. Overall, it was a soft pick for me. The characters were fleshed out well and unique, but there truly wasn‘t as much in the way of friendship for the girls as I expected

Did a #buddyread with my bestie for this one. We haven‘t discussed it in its entirety yet but I‘m kinda disappointed how this turned out. We‘d read Fourth Wing and weren‘t fans, but thought this might be better. I liked most of the characters much better, but the general plot and narrative was lacking so much depth. I think the ideas were mostly great but the author didn‘t go deep enough. Didn‘t feel much suspense/drama

A soft pick for me. The afterword explained the author‘s choice in the way she structured the story which made total sense. I just like books that are a bit more linear. I‘ll never understand why books get banned - always great to expose yourself to different lives/experiences that your own and open yourself up to conversation

My mom recently received a diagnosis just before Thanksgiving of Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Stage 3. She waited on test results before making a decision on treatment, which she‘s still trying to decide. We‘ve been gathering info and I gave her a few books to read while I read this one. It has a lot of fascinating info on alternative methods of care. Some stuff is maybe a little out there but it‘s hard to refute some of the stuff he cites

Finished the January buddy read of the #MidwinterSolace and I did read at a much slower pace. Just a chapter a day so I could reflect a bit on what I was reading. Quite a few things struck me and resonated. I even took a picture of one of the quotes to send to my parents as it reminded me of them - the one about putting your wealth in other people. I‘ll definitely try to keep the things I learned in mind

Emily goes on a Jane Austen tour in England and runs into the “real” Mr. Darcy. They have a handful of encounters while she‘s having her own version of Pride and Prejudice on the tour. There‘s a bit of a whimsy with a fictional character coming to life, and ultimately this was ok. I saw where it was going a mile away, and even though I understood the point the author was making, I didn‘t agree with how Emily saw Darcy. Wasn‘t a fan of Emily either

I thought this was great! Really dissected the wellness culture/trends and while I usually consider myself pretty good at not falling for the hype, a few things I‘d had my eyes opened to. Definitely makes you side eye some of the wellness fads more and question if you really need it/they‘re right for you

Just returned Sunday from Disney World. It was my nephews‘ first time, and it was fun sharing it with them! The weather didn‘t always cooperate but we made the best of it. And I‘m getting over another cold after getting one a few weeks ago. This hasn‘t been my month as far as staying healthy 😂

This book had been on my bookshelf for a while, but the mood finally struck. I enjoyed this a lot! A Native American woman getting caught up in a drug investigation. The characters in this were so well developed. Maybe a little slow going at first but once it hit its stride with the investigation I didn‘t wanna stop reading

This guy has been hanging with me while I finished up this one this week. I liked the characters in this one a lot! Thats really what sells these romances for me. If I don‘t like the characters, it‘s game over. I actually laughed at some of the banter between Shep and Eve. A fun one to be sure

Finished up this audiobook during work today. I didn‘t do too many of the exercises but I loved the message the author conveyed and the tools provided to help you actually care for yourself. There was one part in particular that resonated with me - talking about how you‘re not entitled/deserving of help/charity/whatever because other people have it worse. I do that all the time. So yeah makes you self-aware about things and how to change it

My reading buddy. I finished the tagged book - overall was enjoyable. Lexi honestly annoyed me for a while towards the end. Felt like she just kept fighting with Jake about the same thing. Also I couldn‘t understand her relationship with her dad - just didn‘t get her feelings on that at all particularly since it clashed with the rest of her personality. All in all, I‘d say low pick

I got 87 pages in and I‘m just not feeling it so I‘m gonna bail. Normally it‘s not something I do, but I‘ve seen so many Littens take this route when they‘re not feeling a book because our TBRs are long and life is short - and they‘re so right! Story about two best friends but I‘m hardly convinced they actually are. Definitely more character driven which is fine if I like the characters but not the case here

Finished this up on audio today. It was pretty interesting. I definitely learned some things I never knew before

This was SO fun. At times I was annoyed with Annie, particularly in the beginning because she seemed to take immediate offense to Drew and never even considered she might be approaching the situation wrong. But she grew on me. What I enjoyed most about this though was I had literal laugh out loud moments - pretty rare for me with a book. It surprised me every time but in the best way. It was a lot of fun

Finished this up before bed. It‘d been on my shelf for a while. A story about a pandemic that wipes out most of the world leaving some people with magical abilities as well as without. Not my first pandemic book since living through the covid pandemic but it‘s still so weird and eerie - the stuff the author describes hits different after living some of it. Overall, I liked it. Likable characters and I‘m intrigued. Gave The Stand vibes

I never used to be much of a romance fan but I had a couple good ones hook me a year or two ago and now I like to throw one in every so often as it‘s nice to just blow through a book. I liked this one - not a favorite but mostly enjoyable
