I loved this book more than the first one in the trilogy. I fell in love with the characters and even cried a bit.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When I finished book one in this series, I didn‘t know where Jemisin was going to take the series, and I absolutely could not have imagined how the story would continue!
Somehow seeming both very different and perfectly integrated into the world she built, book 2 was even better than the first. I cannot wait to see what she does in the final!
Excellent second novel in The Inheritance Trilogy. Can‘t wait for the third!
I loved that this book picked up not long after the last, dealing with some of the changes and mayhem left after the huge shifts at the end of the last book. I also loved that it dealt with the realities of the common folk after the rarified lives of the elite in the last book. It was a great story/great characters, but I found myself wishing it had been set further in their future, I loved the dynamic, but it was just too soon for redemption.
4.3 ?
"One godling dead, another standing to profit from her death, and the mortals most intimately connected with him suddenly manifesting strange magic."
Love it!! Amazing character and amazing storyline.

The second book in The Inheritance Trilogy and I enjoyed it more than the first. The world Jemisin created here and the mythology is nothing short of amazing.
I realize her writing isn't for everyone, but I love it. 💚
Found time to finish this #audiobook during a busy week of intensive classes! I enjoyed this more than Book 1; we get more of Jemisin's lush world-building outside the palace, in the city below. I also grew more attached to this main character than Book 1's. She's blind but can see magic, but this disability trope isn't so egregious because of Jemisin's brilliant writing. A little darker of a vibe than Book 1. #AuthorAMonth @Soubhiville
Long and lovely #audiowalk at sunset today. Thankful that my body could handle it. 🙏 Nothing like breathing fresh air (so few people I could skip the mask! but of course had one around my neck just in case), walking on the beach, watching a beautiful sunset, and listening to a good book. 😍 This one's sucked me in just as much as the first! #AuthorAMonth
Morning #audiowalk on the beach with #Pippin! 🐾 Can you spot the three deer in the bottom right picture? 👀 Pippin couldn't! 😂 Due to various health reasons, I haven't been able to be very active this month, and it's especially disappointing while at the beach with my family. After this short walk, I've been laid up with pain. At least this audiobook can continue to whisk me away while walking and while resting! #AuthorAMonth
I enjoyed this continuation of The Inheritance Trilogy. Oree was an interesting and intriguing character and I loved following along her journey and learning more about her and her connection to the gods. #AuthorAMonth
⭐⭐⭐⭐ I enjoyed this one but it focuses on different characters.

This fantasy sequel‘s protagonist is blind, but (twist!) she can see magic. That‘s about the oldest disability trope in the book. Despite that, it‘s clear our author did not take writing this character lightly.
I‘ve been surprised that both books are prominently supernatural romances, downplayed in the marketing. I found this male lead less believably entrancing and this plot more a series of accidents, but Jemisin can create such a vivid world!
Yay! This one was really good, too! I really loved the main character. It was nice to see some characters from the first book appear again, too.
I have my doubts about book number three because I did not like the character it follows at all when he appeared in the first two. But Jemisin is such a good writer, I think I'm just gonna have to go with it...
I made some apple blondies while I finished rereading THE BROKEN KINGDOMS. This series is so good, y‘all. I‘m sorry I won‘t be able to squeeze in THE KINGDOM OF GODS for a couple weeks yet.
The “blondies” taste great but are too dry to deserve the name, even though I underbaked them as per the blondie/brownie playbook. I‘ll tell people they‘re apple sheet cake instead. #audiobaking
A pause between reading “A Good Time for the Truth” and writing year end reports.
Lands this is a complex world that N. K. Jemisin has created. I wonder if I took too much time between reading the first book and this second of the Inheritance Trilogy. She is an amazing writer and I enjoyed the story the deeper into the book I went. 4 🌟
Part 2️⃣ This is amazing and I love this entire package so much! So thoughtful and generous thank you so much!! 😍😍@Chrissyreadit So I have the Inheritance Trilogy by NK Jemisin, 2 shower steamers and body butter from a local business owned by a POC, this awesome bag listing amazing black women and a tardis book beau! I couldn‘t ask for more! #BHMSwap #BlistyHistoryMonthSwap 🤩🤩😍😍😊
Now THAT, my fellow Littens, is how it is done! I savored this book. I can‘t wait to get my hands on book 3. The MC is blind, but all the other senses are so well described you forget.
“He hissed at me. It was not a human sound. In it I heard snakes and ice, dust settling into a deep, shadowed crevice.”
The imagery is astounding. The blurb on the front from Naomi Novak sums it up so well “Lush and evocative.” Loved it. ALL the stars!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Didn‘t I already tell you to read this trilogy? Why are you just sitting here on this app. Go read it. Excellent high fantasy with main characters who are POC and femme, written by a POC femme. Put your phone down and go read it.
#febTBR #FebruaryFeels My Feb TBR goals are lofty but will include the 3 books pictured...sometime this month. I have a 2020 goal to finish as many series books as I can. I am in the middle of 29 series! Ouch. I should be able to finish a few this month (hopefully). @Eggs
Another great piece of storytelling by a master. Oree Shoth's story weaves its way through this novel of magic, demons, godlings, gods and humans. We get brief glances of the new goddess Yeine, who stole my heart in the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. Loved it!
My library is starting their Summer hours July 1st. Which means I probably won‘t have time to get there too often. So I got a stack of books that will hopefully last me all summer!
I mean, I only have 5000 other books I want to read too!
A couple of these are book club books, some are just because books and others are for challenge prompts.

1. Any fried item. There's an Indian snack called methi para that I can't stop eating once we open the package. Also veggie straws or sweet potato chips.
2. I don't feel guilty about it...I unabashedly love Miss Congeniality. And Pitch Perfect.
3. Again, no guilt about reading...a book I like to read as a cozy treat is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Or Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. ...continued in comments
Jemisin does it again!
This is my second Jemison trilogy. I have to say that in neither trilogy did the middle book seem “transitional” or “like filler” or superfluous. Instead, each stands alone as a great book. Very cool 😊
A fantastic follow up to The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. I look forward to seeing how it all wraps up in the last book. NK Jemisin cannot disappoint (me, anyways 😋🙃).
Happy Thursday, y‘all!
I‘m really enjoying this book (though I‘ve not been able to spend as much time reading this week as I‘d like) and Little Bug enjoyed his first taste of (decaffeinated & lukewarm) green tea.

I‘ve been quietly reading my way towards #25infive since Thursday (I‘m at ~15hrs right now; 🤞🏻to hit 25hrs by tomorrow afternoon), and before I start my next book, I want to take a moment to appreciate my toddler. He has been diligently assisting my #readathon efforts by bringing me All The Books from his bookcase to read to him. Thanks for the support, kiddo!

That ending brought tears to my eyes! That might be one of the best redemption arcs I‘ve read. I was worried at first because I really was looking forward to spending time with Yiene and Naha in book two but I really enjoyed Oree and Shiny journey together. I can‘t wait to start book three.
Starting my birthday readathon ❤️
I had quite a mixed experience with this book, a lot of which was because it had been so long since I finished the first novel in the trilogy. I had forgotten a lot of characters and world-building. But I did find the new protagonist fascinating, as I do Jemisin's gods. Strangely I felt like this really captured me only in the last 50 pages. My main complaint is that for most of the book Oree has things happen to her, rather than her doing things.
Mmmm pad thai and a good book (I am getting into the swing of things again with this fantasy world after a two year gap in between the first one and the second!). #BookAndDinner
It's been a few years since I read the first book in this series so I'm feeling a bit lost at the outset of this one...hopefully it'll click again soon!
2/3 finished with the trilogy and, why yes, I‘m having a lovely afternoon.
I‘m feeling a little under the weather, so I turned to Jemisin and green tea rather than getting work done.
Always a great decision😉. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another great book by N.K. Jemisin! I read this one aloud to my partner. Jemisin is so skillful at world building. It's hard to even know what to say about this book - godlings, a magical tree, demons, humans and gods trapped in a human body. Hijinks ensue! Can't wait to start the third in this series!
There are some things one can understand only by experience, and there are some experiences no one wants to share.
Having a tough night, not really able to say much about this right now. My mind is just........bleh. Story was good in some ways but confusing and a little convoluted. Liked the world building and dialogue. Characters were hard to keep straight. Will still read the third book though. 3/5 ⭐️
Love betrayed has an entirely different sound from hatred outright.
Definitely in the mood for fantasy. I loved the first book in this trilogy, and have heard this is even better in some aspects. #nowreading
A rare sequel that is not a retread of the first. Jemisin‘s characters are complex and new. #femaleauthor
